Corrected entry: When Ethan Hunt is running up the wall of the Vatican, climbing onto the top, and then jumping over onto the other side, in front of so many windows, how could not a single person notice him?

Mission: Impossible 3 (2006)
Corrected entry: In the final fight, Ethan hands Julia his gun. From what he tells her, it is clear that she has never really handled a gun. He probably carries a pretty powerful gun. However, when she shoots it, Julia seems experienced in that she doesn't react at all to the backlash, which is enough to knock an inexperienced handler to the ground.
Correction: (1) We don't know that she's never used a gun. She's certainly not experienced with them, which is why he gives her a quick rundown, but it cannot be said with any certainty that she's never handled one. (2) He 'probably' carries a powerful gun? This is speculation. (3) She's not stupid - most people are aware that guns have a recoil, even if they've never held one in their lives. She'd be prepared for some degree of kick.
4) Videos of what happens with inexperienced handlers shooting powerful handguns are common on the internet; worst case it snaps back and hits the shooter in the face. Getting knocked down is completely out of the question. 5) It's a gun taken from one of Davian's men, e.g. not the "powerful" gun he "probably" carries. 6) The gun is a Baretta 92FS firing 9x19 mm, a cartridge with a balance of power, capacity, and manageable recoil.
Corrected entry: As the children are escaping down the beavers tunnel, the ceiling is about 5 feet tall, way bigger than any beaver would dig a tunnel. This was obviously done so the children could stand in the tunnel, none the less it is not factual.
Correction: You're seriously looking for 'factual' in a film with talking animals, witches and fauns? The beavers entertain from time to time - it would hardly be sensible, in the case of emergencies, for them to have an exit route dug that larger guests couldn't fit down. As such, they dug it larger than they themselves would require.

Mission: Impossible 3 (2006)
Corrected entry: In the scene where Julia is giving Ethan CPR, she gives him 15 compressions between breaths. New CPR rules (I just had CPR training a few months back) state 30 compressions between breaths. Strange a nurse wouldn't have an update like that.
Correction: As these new rules are only a few months old, then her actions were correct at the time of the making of the film. As such, not a mistake, unless you're seriously suggesting that they should have gone back and reshot the scene purely to take the new rules into account?

Desperate Housewives (2004)
Corrected entry: It could be by mere chance but the four main housewives; Susan, Bree, Gabrielle and Lynette all display characteristics of Tarot Card Queens;each being of a different suit. They are the Queen of Wands, Swords, Cups and Pentacles. Susan is most like the Queen of Swords. A card of an independent woman who can be bitter, malicious, jealous and is often divorced - which Susan is. She like the Queen of Swords should also not be underestimated. The Queen of Wands, a red haired woman who is creative, warm natured, has a responsible reputation but dislikes Independence in others which can make her tyrannical. This is obviously Bree as she wants to run her kids lives. Gabrielle is most comparable to the Queen of Cups. As she can be vain, immoral (cheating on Carlos) deceitful (lying about her affair) and constantly requires attention. On the plus side she is very imaginative, and as seen in the second series loyal and devoted - backing up the Tarot connections. Lastly Lynette is most like the Queen of Pentacles. This Queen represents a woman who has a head for business and is motherly and very caring. On the negative side she can be possessive and mistrustful. Clearly Lynnete because of her high position as boss and the fact that she has lots of kids.
Correction: The four characters simply represent four distinct character types, as do the cards. There are probably several other analogies that could be made to other groups, fictional or otherwise, with a similar mix of individuals. Without specific evidence that a particular analogy is intentional by the programme makers, this sort of thing cannot be considered as valid trivia.

Poseidon (2006)
Corrected entry: In the scenes where you see the back of the ship, you see the name of the ship itself (Poseidon), and underneath the port of entry (Southampton). The Titanic also left from Southampton.
Correction: Southampton is a busy port - it's hardly trivia-worthy to point out that two ships both carry that marking. And, frankly, pointing out things that can be read by anyone who watches the film is also not remotely trivia-worthy.

Mission: Impossible 3 (2006)
Corrected entry: In the final, celebratory scene, the lead female is in the IMF headquarters, meeting all the agents of this supposedly top secret organization, as well as being shown the location of their headquarters. Quite unlikely for a spy agency to reveal so many identities to a non-cleared person.
Correction: The moment that it became clear that she was in a relationship with Ethan, they would have run every security check under the sun on her, to ensure that she wasn't an enemy agent trying to compromise their operation or other potential security risk - had she not passed those checks, Ethan would have been instructed to ditch her long ago. Of course, ideally she'd never find out about the IMF, but given that she has (in a quite spectacular fashion), it's hardly unreasonable that they might choose to allow her to learn at least some small details about what her new husband does.
Corrected entry: In the film King Peter is shown riding a Unicorn but book 7 of the Chronicles of Narnia "The Last Battle" makes it clear that no one, not even the King, would dare to ride a Unicorn.
Correction: By site policy, differences between a film and its source material are not considered to be valid mistakes.

Flash Gordon (1980)
Corrected entry: After Barin and Zarkhov have killed General Kala, the Colonel appears on the video screen and proceeds to report on how Flash Gordon is in control of Ajax. He asks General Kala to show herself on his screen. But surely he would be able to see Barin and Zarkhov, and therefore would raise the alarm? (01:36:45)
Correction: He's reporting in, but, at his end, he's just looking at a blank screen while making his report. He's asking Kala to switch on her camera so that they can see each other.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
Corrected entry: In the scene where the army is lining up in front of the Black Gate in preparation for the final battle, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are seen riding on Arod and Brego. This is very convenient considering these horses fled in terror from their masters at the Door of the Dead.
Correction: Arod and Brego fled back to the Rohirrim encampment, then were taken to Minas Tirith - on a long high-speed journey, a number of spare horses would have been taken along to act as replacements in the highly likely situation that some horses could become injured en route. Once the siege was lifted and the Mordor army defeated, they were reunited with their normal riders.

Face/Off (1997)
Corrected entry: Near the end, when Archer is just about to turn back, he asks the doctor not to put the scar back. It was a top secret mission. Troy says the files and everyone who knew about it were destroyed. There is no way they would have know how to put him back together, let alone put the scar back.
Correction: Why would they need the files when Troy's body, which currently looks exactly like Archer's is supposed to, is in their possession?

Star Wars (1977)
Corrected entry: Han Solo uses the word "parsec" as if it would be a temporal unit, like "second", but "parsec" describes distances.
Correction: Kessel is surrounded by a maze of black holes and other astronomical hazards. The challenge for smugglers is to fly fast enough and precisely enough to bypass as many of these obstacles as possible without being destroyed, thus saving time. Han's bragging that he found an extremely short route and that the Falcon was fast enough to get through unscathed.

King Kong (2005)
Corrected entry: When the Venture is approaching the wall of Skull Island, there is a shot of the Venture gradually moving towards it, and as it does the wall becomes more visible through the fog. However, the camera angle is locked in one place; the wall should've remained obscured by fog the entire time. (00:48:10)
Correction: Fog isn't a static entity, it changes all the time. It would be completely normal behaviour for the fog to have simply thinned out a little at that point.

Life on Mars (2006)
Corrected entry: After Sam wakes up on the building site, the Police Constable replies sarcastically, "You were driving a military vehicle", when Sam claims the car isn't his, and that he was driving a jeep. This isn't strictly true - the Range Rover went into production in 1970, and the Land Rover Defender into production during the 1940's, so it's not implausible that Sam Tyler could have owned/been driving a "jeep".
Correction: Nobody in the UK would ever refer to a Land Rover or Range Rover as a jeep. Even these days Jeeps are not common in the UK; in the timeframe of the series privately owned Jeeps would be practically unheard of and nearly everybody would still associate Jeeps with the military. What the policeman says is hardly unreasonable.

V for Vendetta (2005)
Corrected entry: V tells Evey that he had gotten the papers from from a woman named Valerie while he was in the camp. He leaves the camp after the 'accident' with the entire place in flames. How is it though, that he left there with the papers if the entire place, including his body, was in flames?

Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Corrected entry: While crossing the desert to attack Akaba, Omar Sharif reams out Peter O' Toole for wasting water shaving. However, Sharif somehow remains clean shaven throughout that campaign.
Correction: It's not the actual shaving that he's objecting to, it's the use of water while doing it. It's quite possible to shave without it.

Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003)
Chapter 20 - S2-E10
Corrected entry: In the Star Wars Expanded Universe, the furry Jedi Master K'Kruhk (a Whiphid) was said to have actually survived the wound Grievous inflicted on him due to an ability to go into a healing trance. He reappeared in the Star Wars Republic comic series, and is allegedly one of the few surviving Jedi's after Order 66 had been executed.
Correction: Information about the comic series is not valid trivia for the show.

Gladiator (2000)
Corrected entry: Rome was not on its peak during Marcus Aurelius as the film claims, but during emperor Trajanus.
Correction: Rome is generally considered to be at its peak during the reigns of what were referred to as the Five Good Emperors, of which Trajan was the second, who did indeed extend the Empire to its greatest size. Marcus Aurelius was the last of these 'Good Emperors' and thus is still considered to have presided over Rome during its peak period.

Gladiator (2000)
Corrected entry: Cicero lived at the same time as Julius Caesar (the 1st century BC), not during the 2nd century AD as the film claims.
Correction: There is never any suggestion that the Cicero who appears in the film is intended to be the historical individual of the same name. Cicero was a family name shared by hundreds of people.

Apollo 13 (1995)
Corrected entry: In the scene where Tom Hanks' wife is in the shower and drops her wedding ring down the drain, when she bends down to try and catch it, you can see the stick-on bra and light green underwear she is wearing for modesty purposes. Hard to catch it in full speed, but try frame by frame. Guess she (or director Ron Howard) didn't want to take any chances of nudity getting into the film.
Correction: As is stated in the rules of this site, if a mistake requires frame-by-frame to spot, it's not considered to be valid.

Correction: If your window looked out on something as uninteresting as a large wall, I doubt that you'd look out of it very often. It's the middle of the day, so residences are likely to be unoccupied and in offices people are going to be working rather than staring out of the window. Ethan's up and down very quickly, too, so the chances of anyone glancing out at precisely the right moment are pretty small.
