Corrected entry: When greeted by Tomar-Re on Oa Hal Jordan knows all about Tomar-Re's sector. He now knows the number of galaxies in it and number of inhabitants, because his ring has fed the information to him from its database. Yet, it doesn't make sense the ring's database doesn't seem to have any information about Oa, the green lantern corps or the guardians, and Hal has to ask Tomar-Re.

War of the Worlds (2005)
Corrected entry: The fact that alien weapons and vehicles were planted thousands or millions of years ago and no one detected any of them, even in the middle of cities, is quite a stretch but I'll accept it. What I can't accept is that these vehicles and weapons are literally eons of years old that they are using. That doesn't make any sense. We wouldn't go to war with equipment that is only 70-100 years old. why would they use equipment against us that is thousands or millions of years old? You mean they haven't improved on anything?
Correction: (1) The eons-old equipment is what's buried there for them to use. With no apparent method of bringing updated equipment along, they're stuck with what they've already put in place. (2) We wouldn't go into battle with 100 year old equipment because we know that said equipment couldn't possibly compete with the more modern stuff that our opponents would have available. The alien invaders, however, have no such concern - despite their equipment being millions of years old, it still outperforms human technology by a considerable margin, so it's simply not necessary to use anything newer.
The machines wouldn't even be operable if they were really millions of years old.
Pure speculation, if you don't even know how the machines work in the first place.

Sunshine (2007)
Corrected entry: The first ship would not be called "Icarus 1", but simply "Icarus". It makes sense to call the second ship "Icarus 2", but when the Earthlings had all faith in the original "Icarus" being successful, why tempt fate by adding the numerator "1"?
Correction: Historically, space programs have almost invariably numbered their first mission as number one, even though it's technically unnecessary. Naming the ship Icarus I is simply following space-flight tradition.

X-Men 2 (2003)
Corrected entry: In the scene in the museum food court when Professor Xavier freezes time, just before the shot cuts away from the boy who has been set on fire by Pyro and extinguished by Iceman you can see a big drop of the SFX "ice" fall from his chin. If time was frozen for him then obviously it wouldn't do that.
Correction: Time isn't frozen - Xavier has no power to do that. What he's done is mentally freeze all those present in their tracks, effectively locking their minds so that they aren't capable of movement and they aren't aware of anything going on around them. Time, gravity and so forth are all fully in operation as per normal, so it's entirely reasonable that ice could fall off the boy's chin.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010)
Corrected entry: When Lupin says "Voldemort" in the Burrow after they rescued Harry, shouldn't Death Eaters have arrived? The name is already taboo, as proved when the trio is in the cafe after the wedding.
Correction: As the Burrow is heavily associated with the Order of the Phoenix, it's likely that the name is said there quite frequently. The house is also extremely well-protected, both with enchantments and by those wizards and witches that might be present, making any attempt to take a look at who said the name hazardous without a large force. On the other hand, the name being said in an unprotected and unremarkable Muggle cafe in the middle of London would stand out as an anomaly, warranting swift investigation.

TRON: Legacy (2010)
Corrected entry: In the very end of the movie as Sam is about to walk out of Flynn's Arcade, he walks towards the door which is visibly bright. After he opens the doors the light come into the arcade. But after he is outside the sky is still dark. Then he takes Quorra to watch the sun rise.
Correction: The porch area immediately outside the doors is well lit, as is the intersection in which Sam and Quorra are standing. More than enough to have a considerable amount of light shining in through the door windows.

TRON: Legacy (2010)
Corrected entry: After sending his father to take a ship for escape Sam goes to retake his fathers disc,a door opens and two guards get out to see what is happening,Sam jumps behind them, kicks one to the cliff and trips the other. From the shot from the top it can be seen that second guard actually falls to platform but then rolls himself to cliff.
Correction: He's spinning as he falls - he lands on the platform, but momentum carries him over the edge.

Unstoppable (2010)
Corrected entry: In the closing scene during the press conference, the 777 is parked on the tracks in the background with what appears to be the same cars it was hauling, indicating this is shortly after the incident ended. Connie is arriving in a rush and it appears as if she has not met Colvin and Barnes before, reinforcing that image. Yet Ned is now wearing a suit and tie, while Colvin and Barnes are still in the same clothes. On the other hand, Colvin's leg is now in a cast indicating he has had time for at least an emergency room visit.
Correction: So what? Doesn't take long to put on a suit and tie, and Colson would undoubtedly have been rushed to a hospital as a matter of priority, so he could quite conceivably have made it back for the press conference within a few hours. Likewise Connie would initially have been busy dealing with the aftermath of what happened, making her only arriving on the scene at this point entirely reasonable. There are no indications that would suggest that this could not be happening within a few hours of the end of the incident.

Tangled (2010)
Corrected entry: When Maximus finds Flynn sleeping in the forest, Flynn says "Well, I hope you're here to apologize," and then the next shot brings our attention to Rapunzel and Pascal who awake as they get startled by Flynn's loud scream. At that point, the frightened Pascal strangely turns red when he's just laying on grass (nearly as green as he is)and is in no contact with any red object. (01:40:05)
Correction: Chameleons change colour according to emotional state and social triggers. It's actually a misconception that they do it purely to blend in with their surroundings, although certain species have developed the ability to do so as a by-product of their colour changing.

TRON: Legacy (2010)
Corrected entry: During the light cycle battle, there are five participants on each side (four white plus Sam, four red plus CLU). By the end of the battle, all five of the white bikes have been wrecked, but only four of the red, including CLU's yellow cycle, were wrecked. This leaves one additional program that should still be on the grid tooling around on his cycle.
Correction: It's not necessary to show every single incident that takes place - the remaining program was simply dealt with off-camera.

TRON: Legacy (2010)
Corrected entry: Sam acquires a second Light Cycle rod during the cycle fight. It's the one he was going to hand off to his teammate when Clu derezzes the guy. Sam sticks it on his right leg. Then Clu destroys his bike and Quorra rescues him and takes him to Flynn's hideout. The rod can be seen attached to Sam's leg in the elevator ride up to the main room of the hideout. However, it's gone in the wide shot of Sam and Quorra arriving at the top floor. It's seen again in the shot of Sam from behind, but after that it is never seen again despite being a more logical choice for transport back to the city than Flynn's older Light Cycle. (00:48:25)
Correction: As we've already seen in the film, standard light cycles are not equipped to go off-grid, which is why Rinzler's unable to chase Sam and Quorra after she rescues him in the arena, so the baton's effectively useless to Sam. In order to return to the central Grid, he has no choice but to use one of his father's specially designed vehicles, either the Light Runner or his father's older Cycle. And Sam's just more of a motorbike person.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Corrected entry: Andy Dufresne was the vice-president of a large Portland bank before his high profile murder conviction. After escape, he visited nearly a dozen banks in the Portland area. Banking is a close-knit industry know for honest people working long careers. It is unbelievable that even after 20 years, Andy could avoid being recognized as Andy in local Portland area banks. He removed an average of almost 30 thousand per bank (in 1966 dollars)- a fortune. To receive cashiers checks in that amount, he would have to deal with senior bank officials. Even though the Portland area is a fairly loose term, the banks must have been close, as he visited them before word of the escape became public knowledge. In the 1960's, Portland had a population of about 75 thousand, indicating that Warden Norton had money in almost every available bank in the area. It is inconceivable that Andy could have avoided detection of his true identity under these circumstances, even with false identification. He would have been recognized by an employee in one of the dozen banks.
Correction: Entirely speculative. It's been twenty years, Andy has aged significantly and is believed to be serving a life sentence behind bars - as you yourself observe, his visits all occur before word of his escape gets out. Even with, as you say, banking typically being a long career, most senior officials at the time of Andy's original offence will likely have retired, with their places filled by people who would be less familiar with him. And finally, he possesses impeccable paperwork identifying him as Randall Stevens, who is a rich and therefore likely a powerful individual. It's entirely possible that some employees that he encountered that day might find him familiar, even vaguely connect that familiarity to Dufresne, but there's a long way between "familiarity" and "suspicion", and nobody would be so stupid to risk offending a powerful individual by suggesting that he might be a convicted murderer. Once word of his escape got out, of course, likely a number of people were kicking themselves, but, at the time, there's no reason for any of them to suspect that he wasn't exactly who his paperwork said he was.

The Christmas Invasion - S2-E2
Corrected entry: When the Sycorax leader is talking to the humans they need to use a translation device to understand him because the TARDIS isn't translating. When they talk to the Sycorax leader he seems to have no trouble understanding their language without any apparent translation device.
Correction: Just because it isn't "apparent" doesn't mean that it isn't there. After all, the TARDIS translation circuits aren't visible either. Safe to say that, as a star-faring species, the Sycorax would have some method of understanding the races that they encounter.

Stasis Leak - S2-E4
Corrected entry: Just after Lister first enters the Stasis Leak and ends up in the shower, there is a shot of a man standing in front of the sinks. Above his head is a digital notice board. The date written on it is Wednesday 2nd March 2077. But 02/07/2077 will be a Tuesday.
Correction: The calendar has been altered since the present day, as evidenced by the newscaster in "Better Than Life" giving the date as "the 27th of Geldof".

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010)
Corrected entry: The story unfolds at a time when the Persian Empire is still strong. At that time, Persia was not yet subjugated by the Arabs who later on adulterated their Persian language with the Arabic script and the Islam religion. Why then, can the Arabic language be heard spoken by the background actors? Why then, is the decree signed by the newly enthroned King (the eldest son)in the Arabic script, which was not yet invented at that time?
Correction: For the same reason that the primary cast members are all speaking modern-day colloquial English, which is not only inappropriate for the time period, but also for the geographical region. Historically set movies routinely use present-day languages and writing for simplicity. This is a standard movie convention and is not considered a mistake.

Inception (2010)
Corrected entry: The music heard in the dream(s) played on characters' earphones, to give them a hint the jerk was coming, should be time-distorted. If 5 minutes of reality is much more minutes of dream-life then the time of music played in reality and the time of music played in dreams should differ likewise. The music in the dream would be heard at slower tempo, and the music in the dream within a dream (or the dream within a dream within a dream) would be distorted massively and perceived probably only as a widespread rumble.
Correction: You're assuming that things work that neatly. They don't. It's clear that outside stimuli are incorporated into the lower level dream, but there's no particular suggestion that the time distortion consistently comes into play. For example, Cobb being slapped in the face at one level sends him flying to the ground in a lower one. If the time distortion applied, that wouldn't happen - Cobb would feel pressure on his face drawn out over a period of time, not a sudden slap sending him to the ground. Some form of stimuli occurs at one level - the dreamer's brain picks it up and manifests it in the lower-level dream. How it manifests can vary. That's just how it works.

The Social Network (2010)
Corrected entry: In the final scene, Mark Zuckerberg asks his ex-girlfriend to add him as a friend on Facebook but he, as Zuckerberg, should have been already able to contact other users and view any other user's profiles.
Correction: Wow, talk about missing the point. Yeah, he could look at everything she's put on there, he could sign them up as friends, do whatever he wants, but that's not his aim. He's asking her if she's willing to be friends with him, giving her the choice to accept or not. If he forced the issue, it wouldn't mean anything.

Contact (1997)
Corrected entry: When they contacted Australia to confirm the signal before Vega set, you can that hear Ellie's team still has the signal tuned in when they are talking to Australia. This couldn't have happened because Australia and US are opposite each other, therefore only one country could have been pointing to Vega at one time, not both. So Ellie's team shouldn't have been able to hear the signal because Vega was past the horizon and appearing on Australia's side.
Correction: Rubbish. Australia and the USA aren't even close to being opposites. Ellie is based in New Mexico, the antipode to which is in the middle of the Indian Ocean, approximately halfway between the western coast of Australia and Madagascar off the coast of continental Africa. It would entirely possible for the Australian team to pick up the signal before Ellie's team in New Mexico lost it.

Sunshine (2007)
Corrected entry: As they approach Mercury the planet moves from the right to the left in front of them. Given the angle, direction towards the sun, and the counterclockwise rotation of all planets this is entirely impossible. The planet would move from left to right in front of them.
Correction: Unless they were upside-down in relation to what's generally considered "up" in solar system terms, in which case everything would be reversed.

Hollow Man (2000)
Corrected entry: It is the height of insanity that the underground laboratory does not have an emergency exit; even a top secret government facility would have one. This lab handles highly inflammable and explosive substances and would have a clear and well rehearsed evacuation procedure. Having said that, at the end of the film the survivors of Sebastian's rampage simply open the roof hatch of the lift and climb the ladder that is on one side of the lift shaft. Why didn't they all do that in the first place? Beats getting killed by an invisible, overacting psychotic.
Correction: Why didn't they do that in the first place? What, and leave an invisible overacting psychotic alone down there, all ready to escape and wreak havoc on the world? Yeah, that would be sensible. They stay down there to try to correct the huge mistake that they made, either by talking Sebastian down and curing him or, once that proves to be a non-option, by killing him. They're attempting to take responsibility for their actions - the fact that it doesn't work, leaving them at his mercy, doesn't make their initial decision a mistake.
They were perfectly fine leaving in the beginning :D also just take the glasses climb up, wait for him upstairs to show up and neutralize him since there is only one exit.

Correction: It's reasonable to assume that the Green Lantern initiation process specifies that the basic information should be supplied by another member of the Corps, and that only subsequent information can be downloaded straight from the power ring. After all, Hal finds it bizarre enough to suddenly know the information about Tomar-Re's sector - had the ring simply info-dumped the whole thing into his head right from the start, he could have completely freaked out, which could lead to him rejecting the ring entirely. A far more reasonable approach to start with a one-to-one chat, then let the ring do its thing after that.
