Corrected entry: When Tom Hanks first meets the woman he is staying with, he mentions the University of Mississippi in Hattiesburg. The University of Mississippi is in Oxford. The University of Southern Mississippi is in Hattiesburg.
Corrected entry: In this scene, Adam, Jessie and Paul are sitting down to dinner. Note the piece of cucumber that Adam has almost finished eating. Paul tells Adam to "go to your room" and in the next shot, Adam is now holding a whole, uneaten piece of cucumber.
Correction: If you look closely he grabs a new one before the angle switches.
Corrected entry: At the beginning, Ray is waiting to board a bus to Seattle and the words "Northern Florida" are displayed on the screen. When Ray gets to Seattle, someone asks him where he is from and he replies that he is from Tampa. Tampa is not in Northern Florida, it's in Central Florida.
Correction: Where he's from has nothing to do with where he caught the bus. He went to school in St. Augustine which is in Northern Florida.
Corrected entry: Rosalee's hairstyle changes, particularly her bangs, between the date with Tad scene and when she and Tad are admiring the night lights of LA, which occurs immediately after the date.
Correction: This could be because the wind has blown it, when they get out of the car they are on top of a hill and it could have been breezy.
Corrected entry: At the end of the movie, Farrah tells Yancy that she was lucky to be at the party, because she wouldn't have been invited if Staci hadn't cancelled, because Julie was only allowed to invite three people. But Julie invited Yancy before Staci cancelled.
Correction: Julie invited Yancy before Staci cancelled because they saw Liz's party invitation and knew Staci would be going to that.
Corrected entry: When Timon and Pumbaa hear all the animals singing "I Just Can't Wait to Be King", they get at the bottom and cause all the animals to fall. But in the very first "Lion King", Zazu the bird caused the fall.
Correction: Duplicated and corrected.
Corrected entry: The story takes place in the summer of 1958. During the scene where Jeff Bridges describes the auto accident that killed his two sons, Jeff states that the shoe on the foot of his son's severed leg at the scene of the accident was an Air Jordan. Michael Jordan was not born until 1963, never mind the fact that he wouldn't have shoes named after him until many years later.
Correction: The movie takes place in the present; the novel takes place in 1958. A lot of the things that happened in the movie wouldn't have happened in 1958.
Corrected entry: As Mary is close to graduation (and her 18th birthday, if I remember right) when her pregnancy is discovered, then there is no way her mom could send her to Mercy House. She's 18, so her mom has no legal control over her.
Correction: Her mom was going to send her to Mercy House during her pregnancy, not after. She has the baby right after her 18th birthday, (approximately two days). So Mary was actually 17 when she could have been sent to Mercy House.
Corrected entry: Topher Grace is shown his new office with a sign on the door reading Dan Brown. When Dan comes into his office, he meets Carter and the door is open with the sign gone.
Correction: The sign wasn't on the door, but on the wall next to the door, so when the door is open, visitors will see who's office it is without entering.
Corrected entry: The opening quote wrongly states that Ray Kroc is the founder of McDonald's. Kroc was the entrepreneur who initiated the McDonald's franchising system, but he only did so after McDonald's had already been running for some time. The original McDonald's' site - and, indeed, the "fast food" service system - was founded and operated by the McDonald brothers.
Correction: McDonald's is a corporation. Ray Kroc was the founder of this corporation, regardless of the McDonald brothers' hamburger stand being open first. Therefore, the statement that Ray Kroc founded McDonald's is correct.
Corrected entry: The second time the tape challenge from Wade is viewed, his friend says something. The first time it is viewed, his friend just stood there and didn't say anything.
Correction: The first time it is viewed, you do not see the guy say anything, but if you listen carefully, you can hear that it is not Wade's voice.
Corrected entry: Lord Kelvin mentions evolution as if it is some abstract concept, but evolution was already quite a widespread theory at the time.
Correction: Indeed and since its introduction, people on both sides of the debate have held passionate opinions on it and been dimissive of the opposing view. His attitude to evolution is quite in keeping with the arrogance he displays throughout the film.
Corrected entry: When Helen and the kids are going back to the house after the weird guy just asked her out, you can see how her lips are not moving.
Correction: In the DVD version (I do not know the others) Helen is not showing her face when going back to the house, so you cannot see her lips. Later on, when she turns back, she is not saying anything.
Correction: Tom Hanks' character is a slick thief masquerading as an academic. The fact that he was able to slip this by Mrs. Munson without her catching it is indicative of his charm, and indicates to the audience that it was just a cover.
