Audio problem: Near the end of the movie the helicopter is flying into the area where the troops were held. The radio traffic isn't pilots or air traffic controllers, it's railroad dispatchers and trackside detectors.
Audio problem: When Ron and Harry are walking down the corridor towards Potions class, Ron says, "...Quidditch trials coming up, I need to practice," but his mouth is not moving and/or not in sync with that dialogue.
Audio problem: When John Rivers is installing his new audio equipment, he says to his son "So you can watch your favourite show and I can watch my favourite show". John's mouth movements don't match what he is saying.
Audio problem: When the trainer and Banks are fighting near the end where all the water jugs are, we here glass break when the trainer shoots that gun type weapon at the water jugs. But they are made out of plastic.
Audio problem: In the bar Marlowe says to Mars' thugs, "Yeah, Mrs. Rutledge wants to see me". But his lips doesn't match what he's saying. (01:10:55)
Audio problem: When the main character is talking to the American businessman near the end of the movie, when the businessman says "I mean did you do it real slow?" you can tell that his mouth does not match the words he is saying.
Audio problem: When Nell is helping Theo carry her bags to her room, Theo turns to Nell and says "well, everyone calls me Nell, don't you love it here?" Immediately, Theo then says "I love it." But her lips don't move, she's just smiling. (00:15:35)
Audio problem: When the Statue of Liberty's head strikes the top of a distant building before landing in the street, sight and sound are simultaneous. There should have been an audible lag in the sound due to the speed of sound being only about 1000 feet per second. The absence of this lag would be acceptable in most movies but is inconsistent with the amateur home movie theme of Cloverfield.
Audio problem: When Dr. Gordon is dialing 911, we hear one low tone then two higher tones. On touch-tones phones, 1, 4, and 7 are the lowest tones while 3, 6 and 9 are the highest. Gordon would have dialed a 1, 4 or 7 first and then a 3, 6 or 9 twice in succession. Possibly 1-9-9 for Emergency? (00:55:50)
Audio problem: When Jodie Foster first hears a ring at the front door, Steven says, "The police." and Jodie says, "You called the police?" He responds with, "Of course I did. You scared the s*** out of me." When he says, "You scared the s*** out of me.", his mouth movement does not match what we hear.
Audio problem: Luke and Alex are standing outside the restaurant. Close up on Luke as his mouth says, "Are we still going out tonight?" Yet we hear, "Are we still going out tomorrow?"
Audio problem: Near the end of the movie, when Ichabod gives the horseman his head back, in one shot, the horseman has his sword in one hand, and in the next shot he puts his head on with both hands; yet we do not hear any sound of him either dropping his sword or re-sheathing it.
Audio problem: When Charlie is driving the truck, you see her press the brake, but you hear the engine rev.
Audio problem: When Baldwin writes to John Quincy Adams begging for help, Adams crumples up the letter and drops it to the floor. As it comes to rest, you can see the word "threatened" written above the words "need you". But in the voice-over reading the letter out loud, the word "threatened" is never spoken.
Audio problem: In the theatrical cut only, there is a scene where Willow goes into Howie's room and wakes him in the morning. She is heard to say something like "Wake up Sergeant", but her lips do not move.
Audio problem: Right after Max and Tom watch the two fake snuff films, Max mentions the record company's lack of interest. At one point his lip movements don't seem to match his words. (00:50:35)
Audio problem: Near the beginning of the film Katie Eddowes tells Mary Kelley 'There's one over there'. As she walks past Martha Tabram and Annie Chapman, we hear some dialogue between them about not having very much luck that night. If you look at all three women, their mouths are not matching the dialogue. They appear to be saying something completely different.
Audio problem: When Paris goes to get her money from the hotel room and runs into Ed, in one shot Paris is talking, then it changes to Ed's face and Paris is still talking, but her mouth isn't moving. (00:45:55)
Audio problem: When Dahmanne walks away in a huff from Niemans, Dahmanne is in the foreground. Niemans is seen out of focus in the rear and his voice is heard on the soundtrack, trying to smooth Dahmanne's ruffled ego. However, Niemans' lips are not seen to be moving.
Audio problem: At the end of the movie when the helicopter is flying into the area where the army team was held, the radio transmissions you hear are not aircraft pilots or controllers. You are listening to railroad dispatchers and trackside detectors.
