Other mistake: During the airport reunion with father and son, there are several boxes of "Cole" brand pineapples...which are just Dole brand pineapples with masking tape put on to alter the letter D to a C. The tape came off one box revealing the original unaltered letter - you can also see it on the side of a box carried by an extra, Cole on the front, but Dole on the side. (00:43:05)
Revealing mistake: In one of the many cartoonish scenes involving Rick, he gets utterly stunned by the weak silly airplane-spin like movie Borgnine performs on him and after a chirping birds sound effect is played, he - or rather, his stuntman - does a Ric Flair faceflop. The stuntman is wearing tennis shoes with clean rubber soles. After his scene with Higgins, Magnum arrives with TC and Rick in a headlock - Rick falls in that shot, and he is wearing patent dress shoes with black soles. (00:27:20 - 00:29:40)
Revealing mistake: When Magnum stops the car right by Higgins who is tending to the plants, there's a close-up of the car tyres raising a lot of dust - or not, actually; it's as if the tyres were vacuuming the dust in! The footage is played backwards. (00:28:05)
Visible crew/equipment: Towards the end of the episode, Magnum gets back to his Ferrari and shuts the door. In the door, you can see the reflection of the crew and lights. (00:45:20)
Continuity mistake: When Higgins brings Earl at the airport, the same extras can be seen walking back and forth over and over - some instantaneously recognizable like the dark haired woman with the long azure patterned dress, or the woman with short hair, white top and khaki shorts, wearing a purple lei. (00:42:30)
Revealing mistake: When Earl punches Rick in the jaw, he's wearing his beanie hat. He (or rather, Mr. Borgnine's stunt double) uses his foot to flip him over, and he is not wearing a hat. When he releases Magnum from the 'Detroit death grip', we're back to a beanie-wearing Ernst Borgnine. (00:32:00)
Revealing mistake: When Earl is carrying TC across his shoulders, Roger E. Mosley is replaced by his stunt double - you can even see his face, and he's also wearing a different belt - Mosley's is of a reddish brown, the stunt person's is dark chocolate. (00:26:20)
Audio problem: Earl captivates Higgins with the story of his wrestling antics with an old army buddy of his who'd beat him on the ring with his peg leg. Higgins then exclaims something, but John Hillerman's lips move with no sound, only Tom Selleck's voice is heard. (00:17:55)
Continuity mistake: Once Higgins sends away Zeus and Apollo, Magnum looks down briefly at his own feet, which are one in front of the other. A close-up on Higgins happens then, and then another on Magnum, who only then is looking down at his feet and realizing he's standing on the prized soil, and in the following close-up steps away from it, having both feet together at the same level. (00:16:00)
Continuity mistake: During Earl's story about the dead sumo wrestler, Ernst Borgnine and Tom Selleck's hands have inconsistent positions between cuts. Magnum's hands hold the chopsticks at or well below the table level, and White Death's hand is closed first, then open. (00:09:20)
Revealing mistake: Mr. White Death intervenes to even the odds as Magnum and TC are getting beaten up. He grabs one guy right away and sends him flying against a wall - but the extra does not fancy headbutting a wall, and even if his character goes KO for the rest of the fight, it's obvious that he connects with the wall with both palms and the head stays inches away from it. (00:06:45)
Continuity mistake: Magnum chirps "Hey, we can talk about this!" as a guy grabs him from behind and Rick is on the ground holding a hand on his cheek. But in the close-up, Larry Manetti's hand is noticeably lower on the jaw. (00:06:20)
Revealing mistake: In the fight at the wrestling match joint, both Magnum and TC's stunt doubles are with their faces in plain view when the beatdown begins and Magnum with his arms blocked kicks the bad guys away. (00:06:25)
Continuity mistake: The first time we see Mr. White Death in the ring, he gets pushed into the corner by his opponent but he shoulder-tackles him to the ground. So when Rick talks to Harry, makes sense that both wrestlers are rolling on the canvas. Less sense though that after they cut to footage of the two wrestlers trading blow standing, Rick and Harry are still talking with the two big guys downed and tumbling around. (00:04:40)
Factual error: The episode opens with a caption "Miami, 1955." However, as Salvatore Marchese sits in the barber's chair, he picks up as his reading of choice a copy of the National Geographic...the April 1982 edition. (00:02:20)
Other mistake: The supposed teen prodigy at the beginning of the episode hits the balls shot by the machine sky-high and off her right. Her coach and mum though are thoroughly impressed. (00:01:30)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the episode, TC receives the bags and basket from Higgins' ladies; in the transition across the "Evelyn gets a teensy bit airsick." line, the two women behind Agatha have different hand positions - in particular the one with the maroon dress is adjusting her cleavage in the first shot, but has both hands supporting the camera in the next. The position of the bag and goggles on Agatha's arm change too, noticeably as the bag'strap is off/on the sleeve all of a sudden. (00:45:25)
Visible crew/equipment: Next to the helicopter, TC tells Higgins that it ain't over. From that point on, look at the chopper's door; the crew is reflected in the glass. (00:44:50)
Continuity mistake: When Higgins asks TC "Was I wrong to assume" at the end of the episode, TC's right arm is lowered, while it should be raised enough for him to keep his hand on the chopper door. (00:44:25)
Revealing mistake: At the beginning of the episode, the young tennis player hits a ball that smashes in many pieces. It does not produce the thick goopy juice that is squirted from a spot off camera in the next shot though, and the racket is entirely clean. (00:02:40)
