The Eighth Part of the Village - S3-E3
Revealing mistake: When Sato arrives at the estate he exits the car then walks with his two guards towards Higgins, and in the wide shot as Higgins and Sato face each other for the first time, note all the small branches strategically placed on the grass to mark the four actors' proper positions for blocking the shot. (00:41:20)
Two Birds of a Feather - S3-E19
Revealing mistake: Sam takes off from Van Nuys on his Super Stearman. We'll see him in Waco do all sort of acrobatics...but when he is first shown in the air right after talking with Richard Roundtree, you get a glimpse of another cockpit where the real pilot is, strapped with the safety belt that pokes in frame. (00:20:30)
Revealing mistake: In the classic ending of the episode, there's an obvious use of a dummy who falls in unnatural, stiff motion. (00:45:35)
Revealing mistake: The criminals have to get back inside the house because the cars for their getaway are "waist deep in mud", but they show no sign of having been anywhere near them; their shoes and bell bottom jeans are spotless. (00:22:35)
Revealing mistake: The fight scene with Magnum and TC has several shots with the real Tom Selleck and Roger E. Mosley, but the wide angles have been shot with the usual leaner stunt doubles. Magnum's double's face can be seen distinctly as he swings for the first punch, and he will appear later in the episode, uncredited. (00:12:25)
Revealing mistake: After the credits, Magnum's friend is checking out of the Honolulu Herald, which is running an article with Magnum's photo but the usual gibberish filler text contained in other similar props. (00:03:00)
Forty Years from Sand Island - S3-E17
Revealing mistake: When Higgins' wheelchair starts taking off and he cries "I say, MAGNUM!" you can see rise from the grass a thin line used to safely halt the chair when off camera. (00:28:05)
Two Birds of a Feather - S3-E19
Revealing mistake: In the shot when the plane tips over the tidal pool rocks, look at the tail of the plane to see the cables used to send the model plane crashing. (00:09:20)
Two Birds of a Feather - S3-E19
Revealing mistake: When the airplane is shown from the front in flight (control tower saying "Squawk 0223 and ident"), the person standing in for Sato is wearing sunglasses, while Soon-Tek Oh is not. (00:42:50)
Two Birds of a Feather - S3-E19
Revealing mistake: The first shot of the bad guys asking to reroute from NY to Hawaii shows the plane with its license number mirrored. (00:42:15)
Two Birds of a Feather - S3-E19
Revealing mistake: Sam arrives back home and he's greeted by his happy son and dog that run towards him...only, you can see at the bottom of the frame that the dog swerves to avoid him, to go to his handler, and couldn't care less about him. (00:22:50)
Two Birds of a Feather - S3-E19
Revealing mistake: Higgins' spotlight gets turned off, not shattered by a bullet. (00:22:10)
Revealing mistake: The man who gets kicked in the face and chest by the two wicked ladies inside the building is not Tom Selleck. (00:26:45)
Forty Years from Sand Island - S3-E17
Revealing mistake: After the savage beating, the two other prisoners go check out what happened inside the restroom. The take of Kirin Nakamura lying face down begins with the actor stretching his finger before he has to play corpse for a while not moving a muscle. (00:04:25)
Forty Years from Sand Island - S3-E17
Revealing mistake: Magnum usurped Higgins' desk while he's at the hospital. He is checking out of the article about Enoka running for Senate. If you look at the first article on the left, it begins with "The facts regarding the situation remain the same, state the authorities", the famous filler text that appears in dozens of props made by Earl Hayes Press. (00:16:35)
Forty Years from Sand Island - S3-E17
Revealing mistake: When Magnum rolls slowly in pain after being hit by the first box, and then when he rolls quickly to 'avoid' the others, his lab coat appears to have protective padding; there's a rectangular shape sticking out. (00:21:25)
Revealing mistake: In the aerial shot of the helicopter signaling the death of Merlin, its registration numbers are mirrored. (00:45:15)
Revealing mistake: In the Birdemic-like scene when Magnum barely escapes with his life from a deadly parrot before Higgins squeals it into suicide, our hero has multiple bleeding from lacerations on his arms that disappear one shot later, leaving room to face laceration who disappear in the following scene. (00:45:15)
Basket Case - S3-E14
Revealing mistake: Magnum's team loses by some extraordinarily bad luck, since the whole laws of physics conspire against him; the ball hits the hoop following a counterclockwise motion without going in, but in the last shot, when it flies away, it is spinning clockwise. (00:45:10)
