The Woman on the Beach - S2-E3

Continuity mistake: Lisa answers Magnum telling him she was nowhere near the potting shed; behind her, a woman with a purple dress is walking away. A while later, Magnum walks away too from all the Netherworld nonsense, and he just happens to pass by the same woman, who is again walking away from the club in the exact same spot and direction as before. The Woman on the Beach - S2-E3

Continuity mistake: Having a drink with Rick and Lisa at the end of the episode, she says "Because I didn't know where Sara was buried." Her right arm is on the table; in the next shot the hand is off it, and it keeps going back and forth, with the hand on or off the purse, that happens to shift as well. (00:46:35)

The Woman on the Beach - S2-E3

Revealing mistake: Lisa is hiding from Ellison inside the potting shed; the camera is following him, and you can see him move his head avoiding a big leaf that the camera itself pushes, showing its presence. (00:44:00)

The Woman on the Beach - S2-E3

Factual error: The opening sequence is set in "Summer 1945", and the librarian mentions as well the season; summer. The prop that Magnum is checking out though, has a headline identifying it as April 17, not quite summer. (00:17:55)

The Woman on the Beach - S2-E3

Continuity mistake: Rick spots the portrait of the mysterious woman on the beach (who apparently always wears the same clothes); the clock hands are at 12:10 when he stands and approaches it. In close-up it's twenty to 4. (00:16:10)

The Woman on the Beach - S2-E3

Continuity mistake: Rick asks Kemo the bartender for a cigarette. In the background, a man in black walks by a tiki torch. Cut to Kemo for a second as he hands him the cig, and when Rick is back in frame, the man in black is walking by another tiki torch that was several meters earlier in his path. (00:09:00)

The Woman on the Beach - S2-E3

Other mistake: First scene set in present day. Exterior shot of Rick's club. A sign says "King Kamehameha Club - Est.1905", In the previous season, episode 11 was focused on the club itself, and Magnum met the landlord, Mr. Sidney Dollinger, who explicitly said "I founded that club for the people.", and Magnum, regretting accusing him, mentions that he blamed "an 80-years-old man." Even assuming he was not precisely 80 in 1981, in 1905 he still would have been a pre-teen or barely a teenager, not the rich planter who founded Hawaii's most exclusive club donating a vast domain to it. The Woman on the Beach - S2-E3

Continuity mistake: The woman in white leans over the back of a chair and clears her throat to discreetly shoo away an officer with his belle. There's difference in lighting between close-ups and the rest, and the position of the loose end of her scarf changes as well. (00:02:45)

Dead Man's Channel - S2-E2

Other mistake: The episode opens with the Coast Guard finding the boat owned by Marion's father empty. It's a small sailboat. Later Magnum visits it with Marion, and the boat is a small double decker yacht that looks entirely different. (00:01:50 - 00:09:30)

Of Sound Mind - S3-E12

Higgins: How fiendishly deceptive of you, Magnum. I could have sworn I was hearing the emasculation of a large rodent. To my great surprise, I see the sounds are emanating from what I thought was a harmless musical instrument.
Magnum: Cute Higgins, real cute.
Higgins: Why Magnum? Why do this terrible thing?
Magnum: Higgins, I'll have you know I used to be very good. I was the second best sax player in my High School band!
Higgins: Well, how many sax players were there?!
Magnum: ...Anyway. I just saw this in a pawn shop window and thought I'd like to try and get my chops back.
Higgins: May I suggest that your "chops" are irretrievable.
Magnum: Higgins, did you come here just to abuse me!?

A.A.P.I. - S7-E5

Trivia: At the awards ceremony, three men seated at a table together resemble three detectives from 1970s TV shows. Detective Mike Stone (played by Karl Malden) from ABC's Streets of San Francisco; Detective Frank Columbo (played by Peter Falk) from NBC's Columbo; and Detective Theo Kojak (played by Telly Savalas) from CBS's Kojak.
