Other mistake: Magnum and Vivian are not listening to the TV at loud volume (they have a quiet time watching and talking without raising their voice), but Higgins, all of a sudden hears it all the way from the main house and is greatly bothered by it.
Continuity mistake: During the surf ski race, Magnum is wearing sunglasses or not, and his paddle goes from white blades to red blades, back and forth several times. (00:42:15)
Continuity mistake: Magnum asks Higgins "In the meantime, you're just gonna sit there sipping brandy, being terribly British?" Higgins answers "Yes!", cut to Magnum, hands crossed, then cut to Higgins finishing his glass, and then, all of a sudden and with the clock ticking all the way through in continuity, Magnum too is sitting there with a glass of brandy in hand. Continuity mistake: When Magnum says "Ah forget it" while TC and Rick are toweling him, there's a racer behind them who hops all happy. Next shot and she's waving the towel she had around her neck. (00:43:40)
Continuity mistake: Magnum during the surf ski race wears two different hats; first we see his Tigers hat (white logo), but then he has the yellow logo Da Nang hat - which he lost in the ocean during the season opener when the two "turkeys" capsized his craft. (00:42:00)
Audio problem: When some black dude randomly does a kamikaze wrestling splash from the upper deck of the boat, his "Raaaawwrr!" warcry is dubbed in. (00:41:05)
Revealing mistake: When Higgins KOs the main villain, two mistakes happen; first of all, the one already down for the count is buried in drums in a different way than shown before, and second and funnier, the stuntman who takes the fall from the pier is either wearing a wig or has a natural poofy head of hair - in either case, it's dry hair and not the wet thinning hair of Terence Knapp crawling out of the ocean. Visible crew/equipment: One of the barrels involved in the stunt that flattens one of the bad guys rolls towards the camera and hits it rattling it. (00:40:55)
Revealing mistake: Higgins disposes of one of the evil dock workers by letting loose a lot of barrels, but it's very visible that the man falls on his own in the way of the barrels for that stratagem to work. (00:40:50)
Revealing mistake: A younger and more athletic stunt double for Higgins is visible in several shots of the climactic fight scene at the end of the episode; when he dodges the first punch after tossing the jewel appraiser in the water, when he gets slammed back-first against the crate, when he pulls the rope and so on. (00:40:15)
Factual error: The location designed for the drop is the crossing between Hotel Street and Liliha Street...which do not intersect, there's King Street in between the two, at most.
Revealing mistake: When the kidnappers drive-by ending up hitting with the car door, John Hillerman is replaced by a stunt double with hilariously fake moustaches, and Magnum is not Tom Selleck. (00:29:00)
Continuity mistake: Magnum speaks to Higgins in the study after the romantic dinner mix-up. The collar of his jacket is straight all the way up in wide shots, and loose in Tom Selleck's close-ups. (00:27:40)
Revealing mistake: Higgins puts on the table the newspaper clipping with the picture of Lady Wilkerson. The text underneath it speaks of a generic conference, and it's simple filler text he had no reason to keep. (00:15:45)
Continuity mistake: Magnum approaches Vivian and Higgins' table carrying an oar; during this wide shot the table has direct sunlight all over, but in other camera angles they are in the shade. (00:10:55)
Audio problem: The woman Higgins seems to have developed an insta-crush on is dragged by two guys in an alley. She is protesting with rather high-pitched shouts but her lips do not move. (00:07:50)
Continuity mistake: Higgins outside the British shop is stammering. He says "But I..." and a blonde with sunglasses and a hair clip quickly walks behind him - nobody was walking towards them from that direction in the establishing shot. When a wider angle is again presented, there she is; that woman is approaching from that same direction. (00:07:15)
Revealing mistake: In the prolonged close-up of the London Chronicle it's easy to spot the same two paragraphs repeated over and over in the main article. Someone at the prop department was particularly lazy - although they did put in some pretty funny gag, because at the very bottom you can see an ad for "500,000 slaves at 1£ each." Pretty sure that was not allowed on British newspapers in 1983. (00:05:45)
Visible crew/equipment: Magnum stops in front of the bar building on the beach of the King Kamehameha club asking his friends about his odds. They laugh him off, of course. In Tom Selleck's close-ups you can spot in the sunglasses TC's reflection far in distance with his yellow polo, but there's a man standing much closer that shouldn't be there. (00:04:10)
Audio problem: When Vivian tells Higgins "Will you visit me in England?" as the car takes her to the airport, a stock buzzing sound of an electric window is dubbed in, but look at Jane Merrow's shoulder; she's cranking the handle. Not quite the car for a Duchess. (00:46:10)
