Mr. Monk Is on the Run (1) - S6-E15

Plot hole: *Spoilers* Monk and Stottlemeyer cook up an ingenious plan to make Monk appear dead, but how the fugitive Monk acquires his regular clothes (in place of Mitch's uniform), the bullet-proof vest and the gun is not addressed. The police are watching Monk's apartment, Disher is watching Natalie and Julie, and Sheriff Rollins is watching Stottlemeyer, leaving us to wonder just how they managed all this right under their fellow cops' noses. Suggested correction: Stottlemeyer is a police captain. The sheriff can't watch his every move, and there are still plenty of cops who are loyal enough to Stottlemeyer for him to get one of them to deliver them to Monk or leave the items somewhere for him to retrieve.

Captain Defenestrator

Nice theory, but there's absolutely no hint of it in the episode. The lack of any explanation creates a bit of a plot hole because it leaves us wondering.

Mr. Monk Is on the Run (1) - S6-E15

Continuity mistake: When Monk attempts to steal the truck at the gas station and grabs the sleeping driver's keys, he drives the truck in circles and then stops. When he stops, the truck is exactly parallel to the end of the concrete slab where the gas pumps are located. However, when the police arrive, the truck is now at a different angle with the back of the truck now being closer to the end of the concrete slab than the front. The gas station attendant would not have moved the truck himself as the police would have told him not to touch anything at the scene.

Mr. Monk Is on the Run (1) - S6-E15

Continuity mistake: When Natalie comes into her house and realizes Monk is there (because he's reorganized the refrigerator), the first camera shot after she closes the refrigerator door shows a Tupperware container with a blue lid just to the right of the refrigerator (facing it) that is slightly turned so that is is not parallel to the refrigerator's side, and then just to the right of the container is a blender with the top lid off. When Randy shows up moments later, there is a camera shot that shows that the Tupperware is now square with the refrigerator's side, and it appears to be a different Tupperware than the first shot, as it looks bigger and appears to have more stored inside of it and it does not appear to have a blue lid. Also, the blender now has the top lid on it. In a third shot, the blender has now moved to the right at least 12 inches, which is confirmed while Natalie is preparing the smoothie: it can be seen that it has moved from its previous position and the blue topped Tupperware has returned. Finally, when Natalie starts to prepare the smoothie, the top of the blender is off and it is not ever seen that she removed the lid herself.

Mr. Monk Is on the Run (1) - S6-E15

Plot hole: The D.A. says that ballistics show that the bullet came from Monk's gun. The simplest thing to do would be to look at the gun, they'd know that it hadn't been fired and was full. With Monk's OCD we know it was cleaned, and the sheriff came in right after, so Monk couldn't have reloaded it. Yet they overlook all of this.

Mr. Monk Is on the Run (1) - S6-E15

Continuity mistake: When Mr. Monk is first arrested by the Sheriff, his arms are fully extended for the entire time that he is lying face down on the floor and his head is turned to one side. However, later on, Mr. Monk explains on the phone to Captain Leland Stottlemeyer how the Sheriff framed him. While the Sheriff is changing the gun barrels during Mr. Monk's explanation, you now see Mr. Monk with both of his hands behind his head and his head is now face down on the ground.

Mr. Monk Is on the Run (2) - S6-E16

Plot hole: When Stottlemeyer is confronted by the Sheriff for not going to the morgue there are 2 plot holes in that one scene: first it is impossible for that article to be in the morning paper since the coast guard "just fished him out" last night. And secondly an article, especially a long article like the one about the body in the bay would contain a physical description of said body. That is the reason it does not make sense to even ask the captain why he did not go to check the body to see if it was Monk when the body was tattooed and had red hair. (00:13:30)

Suggested correction: The article being there that fast is a bit odd, the sheriff mentions a police alert had been put out and was why he went to the morgue. That was what he was confronting the captain about. Even without the article the point of why he didn't check is still a valid question.

Lummie

Do you really believe that the police alert did not include a description of said corpse being found for the missing person's unit to combine against their lists?

Mr. Monk Is on the Run (2) - S6-E16

Continuity mistake: When Monk is at the hotel, a teenage girl comes in to clean up the room. While they are conversing, the subject of mysteries comes up and she goes out and gets the newspaper and places it in front of Monk on the table. They then talk a little more about it and Monk gestures with his hands for her to take the newspaper away and she then picks up the newspaper off the table and exits the room with it. During this entire sequence, you can see that Monk does not ever touch the newspaper. Later on, at the car wash, Mr. Monk sees a newly-painted red SUV that used to be silver colored. When recalling that the teenage girl said that they were looking for a silver SUV, it now shows Monk pushing the newspaper across the table towards the teenage girl even though he never touched it in the original scene. Mr. Monk Is on the Run (2) - S6-E16

Continuity mistake: Monk kicks an oil drum across the floor toward Rawlins. In the master shot, it rolls half the distance and passes a black line on the concrete. The angle changes to a view from behind Monk and Natalie as the barrel keeps rolling and almost reaches Rawlins. But when the master shot returns, the barrel is again just passing the midway line on the floor. (00:25:00)

Mr. Monk Is on the Run (2) - S6-E16

Continuity mistake: When Mr. Monk is attempting to turn off the key to the Governor's car, his right hand is clutching the top middle portion of the front windshield. However, one of the next camera shots shows the windowshield only with no hand at the top. Then a couple of camera shots later, Mr. Monk's right hand is now on the top of the dashboard. At the end of the sequence, his right hand is clutching the top middle portion of the front windshield again. (00:36:30)

Suggested correction: When he says Adrian is trapped in a worse prison, you see him put his hands on the bar. They're not in his lap.

Mr. Monk Is on the Run (2) - S6-E16

Audio problem: Toward the end of the episode, Mr. Monk runs out to stop the Governor's car before it crosses the banner and blows up. The first time that he yells out that "There is a bomb", you can see that Mr. Monk's mouth is not moving to say those words.

Mr. Monk Is on the Run (2) - S6-E16

Continuity mistake: When Monk and Natalie are watching the video of Dale, Monk puts his hand behind the screen (like he's blocking the sun to see it better) and Natalie is holding it on the bottom. When the shot changes to the screen, there're no hands behind it.

Adrian Monk: Unless I'm wrong, which, you know, I'm not.

Mr. Monk and the Garbage Strike - S5-E2

Question: Why would it have been political suicide if it was discovered that Mayor Nicholson was secretly meeting with Cusack to end the garbage strike? If anything, if the people found out that they were meeting to find a way to end the garbage strike, wouldn't that have made everybody happy considering how much garbage was piling up all over the city?

Answer: The two men are trying to work out a secret deal between them without involving the union, which means the workers' interests aren't being represented and defeats the whole purpose of a union. The mayor would lose labor's support and Cusack's union troubles would just be starting.
