Continuity mistake: When Monk and Brian face off with the bear, there are two tree stumps in between. When the camera is on the bear, he's close to the stumps and Monk and Brian are several feet away. In the reverse angle shot, though, Monk and Brian are close to the stumps and the bear is several feet away. (00:35:00)
Mr. Monk's Favorite Show - S8-E1
Revealing mistake: The car that explodes isn't sitting in a striped parking lot space. In fact, it's very obviously parked out in the middle of the lot's traffic lane, well away from any other vehicles, precisely because the special effects crew are about to blow it up.
Mr. Monk's Favorite Show - S8-E1
Continuity mistake: Near the end when Monk is doing his usual "Here's what happened" speech, he hands an envelope to the dad. A few minutes later he walks away from the dad, who still has the envelope in his hand. Immediately, the shot changes and Monk, who is not near the dad, has the envelope.
Continuity mistake: The shots don't match when Monk gets out of bed to go out and confront the UFO enthusiasts. The position of the bed covers changes noticeably between the close-up and the wider shot. (00:36:20)
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Monk enters the Sheriff's office, he is seen straightening out the shades on the front door, so that they are both even about half way down the window. When the Sheriff opens for the woman that was concerned about her relative, in the first shot the right window shade is now pulled all of the way down. Then, when the Sheriff closes the door, both of the shades are now even once again about half way down the window as before.
Continuity mistake: When the gunman is shooting at the Jeep, he hits and deflates the near side rear tyre. His only shot after this wounds the sheriff. Yet when Monk is walking next to the Jeep, both tyres on this side are flat. Then when Monk starts going for help, the two tyres on the other side are now flat.
Mr. Monk is Someone Else - S8-E4
Continuity mistake: After the FBI agent asks Monk to go undercover, Stottlemeyer puts his hands on Monk's and Natalie's shoulders and starts escorting them to the door. When the shot cuts to a wider angle, he does this over again. (00:06:05)
Mr. Monk is Someone Else - S8-E4
Continuity mistake: In the hotel, when Monk sits down next to Lola, the couch pillows change positions between shots. (00:15:10)
Mr. Monk is Someone Else - S8-E4
Continuity mistake: Season 8, Ep. 4, "Mr. Monk is Someone Else": When Lola leads Monk away in the dance club, the peanut dish on the bar behind Natalie moves several inches when the camera angle reverses. (00:19:05)
Mr. Monk is Someone Else - S8-E4
Continuity mistake: When Monk shoves Harold Krenshaw, there are two ships sitting in the harbor in the background. Later, when the FBI shows Monk photos of the incident taken from the exact same angle, the ships aren't there. (00:27:30)
Mr. Monk and the Voodoo Curse - S8-E7
Plot hole: The murderer planted the voodoo dolls after the accidents to make them look like victims and cover up her murder of her uncle, but none of that was necessary! She uses an untraceable poison on her elderly uncle to make it look like a heart attack. So if he'd died...they just would have figured it was a heart attack! No suspicion would have fallen on her anyway, the entire voodoo thing was just needlessly complicated and only exists for the episode's plot.
Mr. Monk and the Voodoo Curse - S8-E7
Continuity mistake: In this episode Natalie expresses she has a long deep fear of voodoo since Mitch was killed. But in the episode "Mr. Monk and the Wrong Man" (6-8), when Mr. Monk states that he thinks that the criminal is causing him pain using his tattoo with voodoo, Natalie responds to Monk saying "there is no such thing as voodoo."
Mr. Monk and the Voodoo Curse - S8-E7
Revealing mistake: In the scene where the desks in the office are re-arranged, you can see that all the computers are on but none of them connect to any power point. NB: You can vaguely see that one of the computers is supposedly on Youtube while another is on Google Maps.
Mr. Monk Goes to Group Therapy - S8-E8
Continuity mistake: When Monk and Natalie fall off the bike the bike wheels are on the path. In the next shot they are on grass and the front wheel is at an angle, in the scene where they finish rolling down the hill the bike wheel is now straight.
Happy Birthday, Mr. Monk - S8-E9
Continuity mistake: When Monk pulls all his drapes shut, there's a wide gap in the right hand set that's letting at least five inches of bright sunlight through. No one has touched them again, but when Natalie goes to open the drapes a few moments later, the gap has completely closed itself. (00:16:00)
Happy Birthday, Mr. Monk - S8-E9
Continuity mistake: After Cowboy Hank twirls his guns, his arms are raised. When it cuts to a shot from behind his back, his left gun is in its holster and his arms are still raised. He then holsters his right gun. (00:39:05)
Happy Birthday, Mr. Monk - S8-E9
Character mistake: Given how Monk is it seems unlikely he'd forget about being in a dumpster filled with garbage and be able to enjoy a birthday party, even if it's his own.
Continuity mistake: In the flashbacks of Sharona's uncle's fall, he's lying perpendicular to the steps, but in the photos of the incident we saw earlier, he was lying in line with them. In fact in the last flashback showing the murder his position changes again, turning from a 90 degree angle to be more like 45.
Continuity mistake: In "Mr. Monk and the Birds and the Bees" Natalie mentions she doesn't have a sister when Julie's "boyfriend" says the aunt hired him to break her and her real boyfriend up. Here she has a sister and a niece.
Suggested correction: Natalie doesn't have a sister in this episode. The woman seen is credited as "Aunt Teresa." They're most likely cousins. Children of cousins are often referred to as nieces/nephews. This would make Natalie "Aunt Natalie" to Anne Marie (and Teresa would be "Aunt Teresa" to Julie).
Continuity mistake: When Monk takes the dog to the park, they're standing on the curb by the grass when he goes to take the leash off. After he says "get ready", the shot changes and they're not by the curb anymore. They're back on in the next shot.
