Mr. Monk and the Naked Man - S6-E3

Continuity mistake: While Monk and co. question Vicky's roommate, two throw pillows behind her on the couch shift their orientations several times from shot to shot. The larger one also moves from the couch corner to a spot behind the woman's left arm and then back again. (00:14:00)

Mr. Monk and the Naked Man - S6-E3

Plot hole: SPOILER Arlene Boras swaps Peter Magneri's MRI scans for those of a healthy person in order to hide the fact that he has a potentially lethal aortic aneurysm. Clearly visible on the MRI scans she is holding are the dates and times of the examination - and the name of the patient. Swapping the records is pointless.

Mr. Monk and the Naked Man - S6-E3

Character mistake: SPOILER. Arlene Boras murders Vicki Deline in order to stop her telling Peter Magneri that he has an aortic aneurysm. Boras wants Magneri dead to clean up by short selling the stock in his company. Boras is a medical professional, and she would know that an aneurysm can burst if the patient is under stress or is shocked in some way. Allowing Deline to tell Magneri that he is in danger of dropping dead on the spot would kill him, which is exactly what she wants.

Mr. Monk and the Naked Man - S6-E3

Factual error: While the police are investigating the murder at the start of the episode, the police make numerous mistakes with the crime scene. First there is no sheet over the body and/or tent to cover the body. Being they are on a beach it would make sense to cover the body from any debris or sand disturbing the body. Second, the sun is shining brightly would not help with preserving the body for the coroner. Finally why have the police only cordoned off a small area around the body. Being a crime scene and potential evidence could be found it makes little sense why they wouldn't cordon off the beach or most of it from the public.

Mr. Monk and the Naked Man - S6-E3

Character mistake: SPOILER ALERT Monk accuses Arlene Boras of swapping Peter Magneri's X-rays in order to hide the fact that he has a potentially lethal aortic aneurysm. We see Magneri being examined and we see Boras handling his records, and they are not X-rays. Magneri was examined in an MRI scanner and Boras swaps the MRI scans - not X-rays.

Mr. Monk and the Birds and the Bees - S6-E5

Continuity mistake: In the mausoleum, the bald man asks Monk and Natalie what happened to the cremation urn name cards, and bends to pick one of them up from the floor. There are no cards on the table when he does this, but in the next shot, four cards have appeared on the table out of nowhere. A short time later, they've all disappeared again. Mr. Monk and the Buried Treasure - S6-E6

Continuity mistake: When Monk and Dr. Kroger are in the session and Monk asks Dr. Kroger where he got his watch, Dr. Kroger puts his arm on the arm of the chair and his hand across his mouth. From the back, he has his hand on his cheek, but from the front again it is back on his mouth.

Mr. Monk and the Buried Treasure - S6-E6

Continuity mistake: In the captain's office, Randy is holding his cup with both hands and he states that he has a Motorola phone in his pocket. He begins to turn to his left to expose his suit pocket jacket. In the very next shot, which is a wide angle of everyone, he is beginning his turn again so Natalie can retrieve the cell phone.

Mr. Monk and the Buried Treasure - S6-E6

Continuity mistake: At the end of the episode, when Dr. Kramer and Monk are talking, Dr. Kramer is hunched over listening to Monk. In the very next camera shot, with the camera pointing at Dr. Kramer, he is sitting straight up and just finishes crossing his arms. A couple of seconds later, it switches back to Monk and you can see Dr. Kramer hunched over again and arms uncrossed.

Show generally

Question: If Monk is afraid of germs, then why does he keep touching things that could possibly have germs on them like parking meters or books?

Answer: Notice also that in the opening credits scene when he is touching parking meters her also wipes his hand on his clothes each time he does it.

Answer: That's the thing about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It's not something rational. He just has to touch things like that. It's not something he can rationally think through. However, since part of his disorder includes an obsession with cleanliness, he also has an assistant walk around handing him wipes periodically. It's like when he gets a cold and uses both a humidifier (because that's what you use when you're congested) and a dehumidifier (to counteract the effects of the humidifier). He may spout rationalizations after he does something, but his compulsions exist outside of any rational thought whatever.
