The Unsinkable Molly Brown picture

Character mistake: The movie opens with the infant Molly Brown in a basket being swept down a raging river. She crashes and crawls up on the bank. No one else is around. But when the grown-up Molly tells her "pa" that she's going to Denver, she says, "Thank you for pulling me out of the flood."

Father of the Bride picture

Character mistake: A big deal is made about how to walk down the aisle. At home, George shows Matty it's left-together-right. Then at the church, Matty has it written on his hand, but it's right-together-left. Then Frank's assistant mentions it as right-left. But then as everybody is walking, they're strolling casually down the aisle as if in a park, with no regard to the whole issue.

A Christmas Story picture

Character mistake: Right after the firefighters have removed Flick's tongue from the flagpole, notice the police officer on the left (Flick's right). He is wearing his sidearm on his right but his Sam Browne cross strap is attached to his belt on his left. The whole point of the cross strap is to support the weight of the sidearm, so the officer is wearing it backwards.

Suggested correction: With exception of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Sam Browne belt shoulder strap is typically worn over the right shoulder and attached to the belt on the left side.

This is correct for military uniforms - once again, the Sam Browne is used to support the weight of a weapon (in the military, this would be an officer's sword, always worn on the left side). However, for police uniforms, the shoulder strap is worn over whichever is the non-dominant shoulder (usually the left). Once again, this is to support the weight of the duty weapon. If you look at agencies such as the Kansas Highway Patrol, New Mexico State Police, and various police honor guards throughout the U.S., you will see that the strap is worn primarily over the left shoulder, since most people are right-handed and therefore would wear a duty weapon on their right side.

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure picture

Character mistake: In the movie they grab Genghis Khan in 1209 which would have been correct, he ruled Mongolia from 1206 to 1227. In the presentation at the end they say in 1269 he did this and that, that would have been Kublai Khan's reighn of terror in Mongolia.

Suggested correction: Bill and Ted have proven not to be that smart. Easy for them to get those things confused.

lartaker1975

It was also an excuse for a callback to the "69, dude!" joke from earlier in the film; whether Bill and Ted intentionally got that detail wrong just for the sake of a joke is anyone's guess.

Character mistake: Pete says that Terry Bradshaw's corvette is a '75 stingray. It is actually a 1981 or 1982. 1975 corvettes had a rear window that was perpendicular to the ground. 1978 and newer had a sloping rear window.

Kim Possible picture

Character mistake: It's merely training, but her opponents are hostile and want to exclude her from playing, so it's funny then that they don't call Kim out for her actions being egregious fouls; she brings the ball trapping it between her feet in multiple cartwheels (you can't just hold the ball between your feet for prolonged amount of times and 'carry' it). You could also say she kicks the ball at an opponent's face on purpose, which is equally unsporting. (00:24:00)

Wall-E picture

Character mistake: Captain McCrea tells the passengers that it's the 700th anniversary of the Axiom's first flight. The Axiom has been in flight for 255,642 days. Actually, 700 years is 255,675 days. That figure includes the additional day in 175 leap years.

Suggested correction: Leap years only occur because of the earth's rotation around the sun. As the AXIOM is in space, there is no need to correct for the earth's rotation.

game.iq

First, rotation is the spin of the Earth (which cause day and night). Revolution is the earth orbiting the sun (which causes years). However, this correction is not valid on the premise you're trying to present. Many films set in space still use Earth time, so a day is 24-hours, even though they're in space and there is no sunrise and sunset (although it's stated the Axiom operates on a 25-hour day). So they would use Earth's year, which takes 365.256 days. Since the Axiom isn't orbiting the Sun, it wouldn't experience a year, so they're using something else. The fact that they're slightly off suggests it's a writing mistake and there's no evidence they use an arbitrary 365.203 day year.

Bishop73

That's still wrong. Even if their years were strictly 365 days, 700 years would be 255,500 days, not 255,642.

Superman picture

Character mistake: In the Air Force One scene, when lightning destroys one of the plane's engines, one of the pilots tells a co-pilot to inform Metropolis Airport that the president is on board the plane. The crew is unnecessarily repeating themselves: just a few moments before, they radioed in that "Air Force One" was on approach; the plane would only have that call sign if the president was on board.
