Italian Ice - S2-E15
Revealing mistake: In the interior shots of the chopper approaching the estate, the sky is completely unmoving. In this scene gotta give props to Lenny Montana, the mature bodyguard, who not only has the best Italian accent in the episode, but also acts the heck out of the situation holding on to the grab handle and pulling and scooting with his big body (although they are not a train or a stagecoach, so they wouldn't really move like that). Italian Ice - S2-E15
Revealing mistake: TC is flying his chopper to Robin Masters' residence, with the three Italian stooges aboard. The chopper's tail rotor is suddenly on the wrong side. (00:28:30)
Revealing mistake: Chased by the bad guy who shoots over 9 times, Magnum makes a sharp, almost "U" turn; the car slows down during the turn, enough for the viewer to appreciate how thoroughly unlike John Hillerman his stunt double is, with his head full of hair. (00:33:10)
Revealing mistake: When Magnum shoots the nun, the one who falls off is a stuntman who would pass off as Gargamel but not as Christopher Morley. (00:46:25)
Revealing mistake: The killer nun is making "his" escape; shoots dead one secret service guy who in the spirit of 80s network television shows not a drop of blood and is propelled through the air as if he was hit by a cannonball and not some little silenced pistol. (00:45:25)
Revealing mistake: Higgins is explaining the story of Bannister, which he conveniently happens to know all about. In Magnum's reaction shot, you can see that he starts giggling a moment before Higgins actually gets to the amusing part (that he was specialist at posing as a female). (00:17:50)
Revealing mistake: Throughout the episode, the makeup used to age Elisha Cook Jr. is not of the highest quality, and seems about to fall off his face in the dinner scene.
Revealing mistake: When Magnum is in the sniper's crosshair (and the following shots from that angle) you can already spot on the pillow the circular area around the detonation point of the charge that simulates a bullet - and even the little bulge of the charge itself. (00:23:35)
Revealing mistake: Looking at the reflection in TC's sunglasses and the relative staticity of the background it is quit evident that they are not flying around the building, but the chopper is landed somewhere with the cameraman doing some wiggling to shake things up a bit and give the impression of flight. (00:44:10)
Revealing mistake: When TC says "Sometimes I HATE being right" as he ends up in a shootout as he feared, the close-up is mirrored so he can be shown sitting closer to the camera. The hat's letters are backwards, of course. (00:45:30)
Revealing mistake: Magnum and the others are escaping from the cryo room; meanwhile the two baddies are by the door...but in a mirrored shot, with the letters (for instance the big "Corrosive" sign) seen in reverse. (00:43:45)
Revealing mistake: Magnum and Mrs. Ballard come out of the elevator supposedly at the same floor - the Penthouse - Virginia and the butler went to. But coming out of it, the number "4" is visible instead. (00:36:00)
Revealing mistake: Virginia before tripping the butler pushes the G button to send the elevator down. When the security guy is looking at the phony CPR scene in the monitor, the elevator is still at the floor, open doors and not moving. (00:34:40)
Revealing mistake: The security guy is checking Magnum as he appraises the cutlery and waits with his client for the rich man. And at the top of the frame of the security camera feed...the security camera that is supposedly filming. (00:14:40)
Revealing mistake: When Higgins rolls over the man that got shot in the struggle, the 'dead' person raises his evidently not-so-dead-yet right leg to avoid rolling back to the side. (00:25:00)
Revealing mistake: At the beginning of the episode, Magnum hangs up the phone and runs out of the guest house to heed Higgins' call and find the lawn swarming with ballerinas. As he comes out of the door, you can get a glimpse of the actual interior, which does not match the set used throughout the series. (00:06:00)
Revealing mistake: Characteristic set lights are reflected on the car windows when Kendall drives off in the last minutes of the episode. (00:46:15)
Revealing mistake: The romantic wrestling after dinner scene is shot day-for-night, with unnatural brightness and very pronounced shadows. (00:23:20)
The Taking of Dick McWilliams - S2-E9
Revealing mistake: In the close-ups during the fight with Mr. Nishimoto, Tom Selleck is giggling and having a good time while an old army buddy of his just died and he supposedly fights to save his widow from spilling her guts on the floor. (00:45:20)
The Taking of Dick McWilliams - S2-E9
Revealing mistake: As Mitsu's dad begins to do all sort of crazy karate roundhouse stuff, Tom Selleck transforms into his stunt double to better face the menace. You can see his face distinctly when he dodges. (00:45:20)
