Character mistake: At the station after the release of the first suspect, Kelly does the good cop routine and apologizes for his Sergeant, saying he does not like a private eye telling him how to do his job. Magnum 99% of the time during the show corrects people saying "private eye" with "private investigator", but here, he does not. (00:16:20)

Plot hole: For two patrol officers (one of them being kinda green) in Honolulu, Kelly and Jordan sure seem to have the weight of the entire State on their shoulders; they also investigate extensively the murder case, and they, until a month before, "worked drugs in that area", which was a piece of jungle around Maui. It's like the department for this episode and this episode only has no detectives, and a couple of random beat cops are covering the archipelago with highly specialized duties.

Other mistake: When the bad guy pulls the gun on Magnum, the last twist is spoiled a minute too early if you notice the shadow of the actor on the right side, already standing by just out of frame. (00:46:40)

Revealing mistake: Magnum finds the trap the veteran put in the plantation. When he walks past it, the camera pans to the left following him, and hits and moves a branch with a very noticeable and unmistakeable effect, not simply the rustling of the wind. (00:25:45)

Visible crew/equipment: When Magnum opens the door of the beach shack, he does not seen anyone, but in the glass there's the reflection of someone standing, their silhouette clear behind the rack of set lights. (00:12:30)

Character mistake: At the end of the episode, the cop reads the culprit his right, twists his arm and exits stage left with him. But 'left' happens to be towards the ocean, away from the patrol car. He also leaves the gun behind, lying in the sand. Worst cop ever. (00:47:45)

Visible crew/equipment: After the drug runners' target practice, Magnum and his friends are assessing the damage to the chopper. During the scene, in particular when Rick tells him "You don't have a client!", the chopper's glasses reflect crewmembers. (00:35:00)

Visible crew/equipment: The Sarge and the rookie cop leave the bar, and Magnum, scorned, gets on the car to leave as well. In the left side mirror, clear as day, the reflection of a crew member's face. (00:32:15)

Continuity mistake: During the scene at the Kamehameha Club when Magnum enlists Rick and TC's help, the same woman with a navy and white swimsuit with a white belt walks by the surf first, then behind Rick, with a different guy each time in the span of a few seconds. (00:17:10 - 00:18:00)

Continuity mistake: Gary Something enters his own home on the beach and Magnum is on all fours with the two cops pointing the guns. The older one is holding the gun with just his right hand, but he is handling it with both in the next shot. (00:13:50)

Continuity mistake: Magnum is being searched by the young, nicer cop in the shack. His colleague is holding his gun with his arm loose, but he's got the thumb on the holster in the next shot. (00:13:05)

Continuity mistake: Magnum is lying on the grass with his towel before Higgins and the lads arrive. The light is different in the two main angles used, and the towel is also placed differently, as you can tell by the position of the tag, closer to his elbow, or further away. (00:05:20)

Continuity mistake: When Kacy is kissing Beardy McBeardo on the beach, her hand goes from under his arm to above it when he makes the gesture in both shots to toss her shoes in the sand. (00:04:45)

Continuity mistake: When Kacy emerges from the waves at the beginning of the episode, she is carrying on the beach a board with a red lightning bolt artwork. Both sides of the board were visible when she was surfing in the previous sequence, and the pattern matches neither. (00:01:45)

Continuity mistake: The bearded guy sits with Kacy at the surfer's bar; in the first shot with him seated, the cigarette has a noticeable rather long patch of ash, which in the rest of the scene is much shorter - with the cigarette being of the same length, too. (00:03:55)
