Mr. Monk Is on the Run (2) - S6-E16
Revealing mistake: When Natalie visits Dale in prison you can tell that Dale is wearing a "fat suit". The suit on his arm is folding up on itself like a glove.
Mr. Monk and the Badge - S8-E14
Character mistake: When Monk is talking to the cops on the shooting range about the window washer's story, he says that the window washer said he was on the 7th story of the building. But in the press conference Monk saw in the bar, he said he was on the 6th story. Monk isn't likely to forget a detail like that, especially since it's the detail that's bothering him about the story. (00:19:25)
Mr. Monk Gets Hypnotized - S7-E8
Revealing mistake: There is an obvious stunt double when Monk is fighting with Sally Larkin for the piece of chewing gum: he is younger, more tanned, and possibly wearing a wig in order to emulate Tony Shalhoub's hair. (00:35:55 - 00:39:05)
Plot hole: How come Monk and Natalie didn't think it suspicious that Cassie Drake was killed in her house within less than twelve hours after they had found out she was responsible for killing her patient? Since Jake and Ramone were the only two people they had disclosed their findings to (apart from Stottlemeyer and Disher), they should have focused in on Jake much sooner. (00:24:00 - 00:27:00)
Mr. Monk Goes to a Rock Concert - S5-E8
Continuity mistake: There are two mistakes when Natalie runs up to Monk after he leaves the port-a-potty. First, notice that when Monk is replying to Natalie's first question, her thumb is sticking out, but it isn't when the shot cuts to a front shot of Natalie. Secondly, as Natalie is leading Monk away, her purse has gone from being over her shoulder to being over her elbow, and back when Monk and Natalie turn to see Stork's body fall out of the port-a-potty. (00:11:45 - 00:12:20)
Mr. Monk and the Genius - S7-E2
Continuity mistake: As soon as Monk finishes his summation to Patrick Kloster during the funeral parlor scene, he tells Natalie to call Stottlemeyer, and she walks away to get some privacy. Natalie is still in the background, a few feet away, when the two elderly mourners come in and Monk mistakes the woman in the coffin for the murder victim. Natalie is still visible behind the mourners for the first few shots, but then disappears, and suddenly is standing right beside Monk. (00:19:00 - 00:21:00)
Continuity mistake: Monk eats a sandwich with a slice of one of the square tomatoes on it, however, in "Mr. Monk Goes to the Asylum," tomatoes are one of his allergies.
Mr. Monk Goes to the Carnival - S1-E5
Continuity mistake: When Monk is in the review board hearing, in long shots, the wastebasket by the board members' table is empty. When one of the reviewers throws away a paper that misses the basket and lands right next to it, there are several papers already in it. In the next long shot and for the rest of the scene, the basket is empty again and the missed paper is at least two feet away. (00:06:15 - 00:07:40)
Continuity mistake: The location of Trudy's grave changes throughout the series. In "Mr. Monk and the Candidate," it's in a spot in the graveyard by a paved intersection. In "Mr. Monk and the Red-Headed Stranger," it's in the midst of a copse of trees. In "Mr. Monk and the Three Pies," it's just off the cemetery's main drive.
Other mistake: Mr. Monk is solving his 100th case, but in Season one Episode 3 Julie gives him 100 trophies, saying they rounded down from 104 to make an even number.
Mr. Monk Goes to the Carnival - S1-E5
Continuity mistake: When Kitty runs up to Gitomer, she is not wearing gloves. Later, when Monk gives his summation, careful viewing will show Kitty wearing a glove that's used to hold the knife.
Mr. Monk Gets Jury Duty - S4-E16
Factual error: When Natalie hears the jury's muffled screams inside the locked room she uses the fire extinguisher to tear off the door knob. But a locked door without a knob is actually only harder to open, because like that you cannot turn the mechanism even if it was unlocked.
Mr. Monk and the Really, Really Dead Guy - S5-E15
Factual error: Monk typing the address into his laptop would not affect the trace the agents are doing, it definitely wouldn't pop up on the agent's screen as the result of the trace.
Mr. Monk and the Red-Headed Stranger - S1-E12
Plot hole: When Monk explains to Miss. Mass how she had murdered Sonny, a flashback of the crime shows that she isn't wearing gloves when she leaves the note to get him to go to the alley. Had the cops checked the note for prints, they would have shown Miss. Mass' fingerprints on it and knew she was responsible for Sonny's death.
Suggested correction: Just because they lifted fingerprints off the note, there wouldn't be a way to identify them as belonging to Ms. Maas if her prints aren't in the system. As a witness (and ruled out as a suspect because they thought she was blind), they wouldn't have fingerprinted her just because the found unknown prints and wanted to rule her out.
What about gun residue on the hands?
Mr. Monk Goes Camping - S8-E12
Character mistake: The campers suspend their packs with food from a tree, while the two criminals watch from behind a tree. Criminal 1 asks, "What are they doing?" Criminal 2 responds, "They're getting their food off the ground, it keeps the bears away." But they only suspend the packs a few feet off the ground, still easily within reach of the criminals and certainly within reach of a bear.
Mr. Monk and the Very, Very Old Man - S2-E5
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Capt Stottlemeyer is vacuuming Monk's floor, you see the living room has wall-to-wall carpet. But just minutes later when they show the floor again, it is just a throw rug over hardwood floors. The room no longer has wall-to-wall carpet.
Suggested correction: It's never wall-to-wall carpeting. It's always a rug, and the Captain even calls it a rug. In the shot of the vacuum and the Captain's feet, you can see the hardwood floor behind him.
Earlier there was no rug at all. They were fighting about the coffee table and you could hear the scrapping noise of the coffee table on the bare floor.
Mr. Monk Takes Manhattan - S3-E1
Factual error: In the episode the victims were murdered with a .22 caliber firearm. However, a short shot of the crime scene focuses on an empty shell casing which comes from a larger caliber firearm, most likely a 9mm parabellum. (00:05:30)
Mr. Monk and the Rapper - S6-E2
Continuity mistake: After Monk tries to get out of the contract with Murderuss, he walks to Stottlemeyer with jewel necklaces around his neck. In the next shot (after Stottlemeyer asks "How did that happen?"), the necklaces have disappeared. (The golden teeth stay, though).
Mr. Monk and the Really, Really Dead Guy - S5-E15
Plot hole: In this episode, Monk doesn't know to open a cell phone to answer it, but in "Mr. Monk and the Kid", he used a cell phone with the ransom drop with no problems. (00:04:25 - 00:05:05)
Happy Birthday, Mr. Monk - S8-E9
Continuity mistake: When Monk pulls all his drapes shut, there's a wide gap in the right hand set that's letting at least five inches of bright sunlight through. No one has touched them again, but when Natalie goes to open the drapes a few moments later, the gap has completely closed itself. (00:16:00)
