Day 4: 2:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. - S4-E8

Factual error: When Edgar proves that Mary-Ann Taylor framed Sarah to be the rat in CTU, he claims that she remotely took control of her computer by sending the signal over "a plain old AC power line." This is not possible, unless the computers were equipped with special hardware to separate the AC from the signal. If they were, this traffic would have been observed by James Heller's assistant.

Day 4: 2:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. - S4-E8

Continuity mistake: When Curtis Manning is chasing Mary-Ann Taylor out of CTU, you see Mary-Ann exiting through a solid grey door marked by an EXIT sign in a wall which looks like concrete. As she passes through the door, you can see sunlight on her from almost directly above. In the next shot Mary-Ann is seen exiting through a glass door in a wall of glass panels. Unless there is a section of CTU's roof missing, the room she exits from in the second shot is not the room she exits to a few seconds earlier in the first shot.

Day 4: 3:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. - S4-E9

Continuity mistake: In the previous episode, when Jack and Tony try to stop the helicopter, they drive off the road and hit the front bumper and lose their front license plate. This is also visible in this episode as Jack and Tony wait for backup and when they drive off there is still no license plate, but about 8 minutes later, when they arrive, the license plate is back on. Since the show is in real time and they arrived in the exact time they said they would, they couldn't have stopped to get it fixed or anything.

Day 4: 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. - S4-E12

Plot hole: When Conlon searches for Paul in the dark he holds his gun and the flashlight in his crossed hands. You can see how the light of the flashlight brightens the side of the gun. But the cone of light on the wall is a full round circle. (00:37:55)

Day 4: 7:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. - S4-E13

Character mistake: Near the start of the episode, Curtis asks how many square miles are affected by the blackout, and is told "approximately 8." A few minutes later, Sarah states that the blackout area is "everything within an 8 mile radius." These are vastly different amounts. An 8 mile radius would cover approximately 201 square miles. (00:02:25 - 00:06:55)

Day 4: 8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. - S4-E14

Character mistake: In the scene where Chloe uses traffic video to get the license plate number off the van that takes Jack and Dina Araz to Habib Marwan, Tony is seen calling the field teams with the plate number, saying that it's "Charlie-Victor Alpha-Three-Two-Two." But the plate reads "6CVA322" so he should've said, "Six-Charlie-Victor-Alpha-Three-Two-Two."

Day 4: 9:00 P.M.-10:00 P.M. - S4-E15

Plot hole: Dina Araz was executed at 8:57pmin the previous episode. At 9:01pm during this episode, the terrorists have already placed her body in the van, driven off with it, and abandoned it. Then someone had found the body, reported it in, and the information gotten to CTU. All in the course of four minutes. That is impossible, no matter how fast the terrorists were.

Day 4: 9:00 P.M.-10:00 P.M. - S4-E15

Continuity mistake: Chloe tells Michelle that she's confirmed Marwan's identity using voice tags from McLennan Forrester, but all of the computer records at MF were wiped out a few episodes earlier by the EMP, according to both the MF employees and CTU. The fact that they didn't get any information from the company except for the printouts Jack and Paul extracted was a major plot point a few hours ago, so even if a real EMP wouldn't do this, the fact that it's stated repeatedly in the show means it should hold true within the series; Chloe suddenly having information from them an hour or so later is discontinuous, and thus a mistake.

Day 4: 10:00 P.M.-11:00 P.M. - S4-E16

Character mistake: 23rd minute. Jack meets the female assassin in Anderson's apartment. She demands that he show his credentials. Jack says he's with CTU on a provisional basis and therefore he has no badge. The agent that came with Jack confirms that. Yet, in the 13th episode (minute 14) when he enters the sports shop with Audrey's husband, he shows his CTU badge to the owners in order to prove that he in fact is a federal agent.

Day 4: 11:00 P.M.-12:00 A.M. - S4-E17

Continuity mistake: When Jason and his wife are trying to escape from Marwan, they run through a corridor filled with water puddles. A few seconds later, one of Marwan's men goes through the same corridor to follow them, but none of the puddles had any ripples, which they should have considering the amount of water and time elapsed.

Day 4: 12:00 A.M.-1:00 A.M. - S4-E18

Factual error: In the opening scene of the episode, Marwan gives a cohort Lat/Long coordinates for a nuclear missile. The computer shows these coordinates as being in the Midwest, they are actually in Nevada. (37 14' N 115 21' W).

Day 4: 1:00 A.M.-2:00 A.M. - S4-E19

Plot hole: At 01:50 am, Chloe is told to go to Sabir's house. She arrives there approximately 5 minutes later, at 01:55:45. At 01:58, Jack is told that the closest tactical team is 15 minutes away from Sabir's residence. A few moments later, Jack mentions that the tactical team is 10 minutes apart from Chloe, meaning they bothered to send the team over there even though any officer currently at CTU HQ, including Jack, could get over there a lot sooner.

Day 4: 1:00 A.M.-2:00 A.M. - S4-E19

Continuity mistake: At the very end of Episode 18, Jack knocks out Joe Prado after breaking his thumb and getting information from him. At the very beginning of Episode 19, we see Prado already being treated for his injuries, with a hand splint, and nurses checking his head, within the CTU clinic. Even if you factor in the opening recap sequence at the beginning of every episode, that means that Joe Prado regained consciousness, Jack unhooked his handcuffs, and dragged him back to CTU in three minutes or less.

Day 6: 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM - S6-E1

Jack Bauer: Do you understand the difference between dying for something and dying for nothing? The only reason I fought so hard to stay alive in China was because I didn't want to die for nothing. Today, I can die for something.

Season 1 generally

Question: Was Nina recruited as a spy before she joined CTU or after? Also, as she wasn't working just for the Drazens, what was her primary mission?

Answer: According to Jack in season 5, Nina was "deep cover" before the pair ever met, so it's safe to assume she was recruited before she joined CTU. As for what her primary mission was, who knows? Perhaps it was to gather sensitive intel and pass it on to her superiors. Given that she worked for an intelligence agency, it's not a stretch. Or perhaps we may find out in season seven.
