Other mistake: When we first see one of the Hellhounds at the clothes store that Cordelia works at, it jumps through the window, smashing the glass, and then attacks a customer who's wearing a tuxedo. But the Hellhound attacks the customer several seconds after it smashes through the window, giving the customer a chance to escape. But the customer just stands there unaware of the Hellhound, having not heard the window being smashed.
Continuity mistake: In 'Graduation Day, Part 1' when Giles stabs the Mayor, as he takes the foil out of his chest you can see a wound on his shirt. When the shot changes it has disappeared. I know the Mayor is invincible and his wound heal in seconds, but it still takes a second or two for his wounds to close up, they don't just disappear. (00:15:40)
Revealing mistake: In Graduation Day Part One, when Faith shoots Angel with the longbow, you can see the false point spring out as if it were on a hinge from inside his jacket. (00:22:47)
Continuity mistake: In Graduation Day Part 1, when Faith and Buffy are fighting, Faith throws Buffy into the wall near the TV, but the TV is intact. A few shots later, there is debris on the floor, glass and such, from the TV, and when it's shown again, the TV is unbroken. This happens a few times. In Graduation Day Part 2, when Faith and Buffy are talking in the apartment, the TV is broken again. (00:38:05)
Continuity mistake: In 'Graduation Day, Part 1' when Buffy and Faith are fighting Faith falls into a table, knocking all the comics on it onto the floor. In one or two later shots you can see (on the very edge of the screen) that there's still a comic on it. (00:38:20)
Visible crew/equipment: In the scene at Buffy's house, her mum comes into her room and says "Buffy, I'm home". As she says this a boom mic is visible above her head.
Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Buffy is packing Joyce's clothes into a suitcase you can see a mic moving at the top of the shot as they walk through the door.
Revealing mistake: Towards the end, when Buffy stabs Faith, there is no blood whatsoever.
Plot hole: Healing Angel requires draining the blood of a Slayer. Buffy tries to kill Faith in order to get some of her blood but Faith gets away after Buffy stabs her at the end of "Graduation Day Part 1." The amount of blood on the dagger that she used wouldn't be enough blood to heal Angel, but it'd be a start. So why didn't Buffy just use some of the blood on the dagger? In the very first shot of "Graduation Day Part 2" we see the dagger coated with the stuff.
Visible crew/equipment: When Buffy is going through the murdered Professor's office, Angel seems to trip through the doorway. To the top right above Angel's head a boom mike is visible twice.
Continuity mistake: When Wesley and Cordelia kiss, after a few seconds they freeze in place. Cordelia has her left arm around his waist, we see a shot of her face for about a second with her arm definitely angled downwards, then we cut to Wes' face and her hand's now on his neck. (00:25:20)
Plot hole: In 'Graduation Day pt 2' the Mayor has his vampires stand at the bottom of the steps leading out of the school to stop any escaping students. The thing is, all the parents managed to escape out the side exits. Since the Mayor was expecting all the students to try and run too, why didn't he have these exits covered? (00:33:15)
Continuity mistake: When Buffy wakes up in the hospital bed you can you can see the black strap of her tank top underneath the gown. Then when she gets out of bed on walk to Faith, and it shows her walking through the hall you can see a white spaghetti top through the gown.
Other mistake: At the end the library that was rigged with explosives blows up. But the school's main entrance and the clock tower blow up as well, even though they are not rigged with explosives.
Deliberate mistake: Every time the commandos are seen in the early episodes of this season (The Freshman and Fear, Itself) they wear ski masks to protect their identities. Starting in The Initiative, they stop doing this. The reason is that the audience needs to be able to identify the different commando characters, but it's still a discontinuity.
The Freshman - S4-E1
Visible crew/equipment: When Buffy and Xander are doing some research, check the left side of the screen in a wide shot, when Xander asks "how far back do the disappearances go?" You may need to turn the brightness up, but there's a boom mike bobbing around. (00:34:25)
The Freshman - S4-E1
Continuity mistake: When Buffy is fighting the vampires at the end of the episode, she grabs a tennis racket and smashes the brunette vampire over the head. She falls over the back of the couch and we hear the thud of her landing, however in the wide shot of the couch the vampire has just started to go over the back.
The Freshman - S4-E1
Continuity mistake: When Buffy is talking to Giles after his run, his towel moves from being on one shoulder to being across his back and over the other shoulder to being back on one shoulder.
Chosen answer: "So goes the nation" seems to have been used on many occasions, with various different US states in the "As .... goes" section. Most commonly it seems to be California that's considered to lead the way, but probably most other states have appeared in the lead role at some point or another. Other things have also been used - no less a person that Pope John Paul II said "As the family goes, so goes the nation...". The origin of the quote format is unclear - in US politics it goes back into the 19th century, when it was Maine that held the title spot, but, while no definitive origin is known, it seems highly likely that it goes back considerably further than that.
