V for Vendetta (2005)

Corrected entry: John Hurt wears contact lenses to make his pupils look much bigger. You can see the edges of these coloured lenses when he's dead at the end of the movie.

Dr Wilson

Correction: So he wears contact lenses. So what? Contact lenses exist in the time frame of the film and people wear them for both corrective and cosmetic reasons. No reason at all why a character couldn't be seen to be wearing them.

Tailkinker

Corrected entry: In Cloud City, when Luke is shot at by the stormtroopers, you can see from the impacts that the walls are painted wood.

Dr Wilson

Correction: They're not on a ship, they're in the middle of a city. Why is it unreasonable that the walls would be made of wood?

Corrected entry: When C3P0 disturbs Leia and Han while they are kissing, there is something hanging from his armpit, wires or some mechanism, as if he was damaged. It's not there later.

Dr Wilson

Correction: So he had a loose part and fixed it later. How is that a mistake?

Corrected entry: During the battle on the forest moon of Endor, an imperial AT-ST shoots at two Ewoks but they start to fall before the explosion.

Dr Wilson

Correction: That's because they're diving out of the way.

Taxi 2 (2000)

Corrected entry: In the hangar, Émilien is angry at the other policemen and pushes their beer cans and playing cards onto the ground. They are back on the table the shot later. (00:40:05)

Dr Wilson

Correction: He only gets the front right policeman's beer cans and the cards laying on the table. It's the other two policemen's cans and the cards they're holding in the next shot.

Taxi 2 (2000)

Corrected entry: When the police motorcycle are falling, one of the policemen is actually pulling them with a rope. (00:21:10)

Dr Wilson

Correction: It's not a rope and he's not pulling the bikes over. It's just the cord from his motorbike's telephone and he's ineffectually trying to pull on it to STOP the bike(s) from falling over.

Oliver Hunter

Corrected entry: Some things in the chamber of Russ change from the scene where you see the grandfather in the bed and Clarke passing through the floor. (00:29:05 - 00:33:05)

Dr Wilson

Correction: That's not very specific. Does the bed change positions? Are there different posters on the walls? Is the wallpaper a different color? At least give one example of something that changes between the two shots.

Twotall

The scene itself is specific enough. When multiple things move around, it's easier to say "some things change position", especially when it's obvious. While an example would make it easier, it's not necessary in all cases. Corrections should only be made when the scene has been observed so you can validate or invalidate the mistake. If you've watched the scene and didn't see anything change, then you could suggest an example be given.

Bishop73

No but there's a hole in the ceiling from clot going through it and then the scene where they're in bed which is after that the ceilings were peered as a poster up another mistake in the movie.

Corrected entry: Watch in slow-motion when Eddie's dog passes through the door to chase the squirrel. The door is actually broken before.

Dr Wilson

Correction: As per the rules of this site, watching in slow-mo does not qualify this as a valid mistake.

Mister Ed

Corrected entry: In the shot after the sharks pulls out Hans Blix's head, the hand of an puppeteer is visible on the upper right corner of the screen, beside Kim Jong Il. Wires are deliberately visible in the film, but pupeteers are not. (00:38:14)

Dr Wilson

Correction: That wasn't a hand of a puppeteer it was one of the sharks, the scene was being shot from inside the tank.

The Time Machine (2002)

Corrected entry: When Alexander goes to the year 802,701, the level of water had dropped about 30 metres. As that the climate seems to be tropical, the polar ice would have melted down and the water level would be higher than what it is in today's New York.

Dr Wilson

Correction: Being that the Moon was destroyed hundreds of thousands of years prior to that time, that could have had a major effect on the planet. In addition to the fact that tides would pretty much disappear, there is also a theory saying that without the Moon, the Earth's tilt can gradually be altered over time which would change the position of the poles. Also, 800,000 years worth of continental drift might have moved the former New York further from the poles than where is now.

Batman (1989)

Correction: He is probably startled because the Joker previously told Bob that he was "his number one guy", and now he is pointing a gun at him.

wizard_of_gore

Correction: Obviously, because as the race goes on he gets more and more dirt on his face. That's common logic.

Goldeneye (1995)

Corrected entry: M states that electromagnetic pulse effects of an atomic bomb exploding in high atmosphere was discovered after Hiroshima's bombing. It's not true. It was discovered after high altitude tests over Hawaii in 1953.

Dr Wilson

Correction: She never mentions how long after Hiroshima that EMP was discovered. She probably mentions Hiroshima because it was the first use of a nuclear bomb.

Frankenstein (1931)

Corrected entry: Baron Frankenstein says that his son's lab is in an old abandoned windmill. It is actually in a watchtower.

Dr Wilson

Correction: The actually Baron says the lab is in a watchtower, not a windmill. The windmill appears at the end of the film.

When the Baron is speaking to Victor and Elizabeth at about the 26 minute mark, he says: "Why does he go messing around in an old ruined windmill - when he has a decent house, a bath, good food and drink, and a darn pretty girl to come back to. Huh, will you tell me that?" So this is a valid mistake.

Corrected entry: When Darth Sidious talks to Darth Maul on the balcony, it is the same as Senator Palpatine's apartments.

Dr Wilson

Correction: That is not in the least bit surprising seeing as Darth Sidious and Palpatine are one and the same. Furthermore, this is not even valid trivia in that it is pointing out something which is obvious to anyone who watches the movie.

Corrected entry: During the fight between Anakin and Count Dooku, there's at least one shot where a lightsaber's shadow is visible on the floor. You see a shadow because they use a stick during the filming and later add the special effect.

Dr Wilson

Correction: Throughout the series of films, there are numerous shots where a lightsabre blade is seen to cast a shadow. As we don't know anything about the energy used to create the blade, we cannot say that it shouldn't cast a shadow, not least at the blades aren't translucent, meaning they definitely block light in some way.

Tailkinker

Correction: That's not snow, it's powdered sugar.

The Pianist (2002)

Corrected entry: When Szpilman escapes from the hospital because the German soldiers are burning the building with flamthrower, he open the window twice and the window changes between shots.

Dr Wilson

Correction: Szpilman actually opens two separate sets of windows. The first is a set of cloudy windows, the second a set of clear windows. The first camera angle is looking from the side as he opens the first set, then it moves behind Szpilman as he opens the next set. If you look closely, you can see the cloudy windows continue to swing after the camera changes.

Corrected entry: When the co-pilot calls the control tower after the flying saucer has passed in front of the airplane, he says "May Day, May Day, standby Burbank tower." According to protocol, pilots actually have to say "May Day" three times. (00:05:15)

Dr Wilson

Correction: People get nervous, people make mistakes.

Star Wars (1977)

Corrected entry: While they are escaping from the detention block, Leia says something like "Into the garbage chute, flyboy," but Han is still wearing the stormtrooper uniform, so there's no way that she could have known he was a pilot.

Dr Wilson

Correction: She could have also been using "Flyboy" sarcastically in the sense that Han was attempting to rescue her without a good plan (on the fly, so to speak).
