Corrected entry: Hermione is knitting hats to free the house elves of Hogwarts. but the elves don't belong to her, they belong to Dumbledore. So technically they can't be freed by students, only Dumbledore.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
Corrected entry: In the scene where Mrs. Figg is bringing Harry and Dudley home after the attack of the Dementors, she speaks about "the boy who was killed last year". Actually it is summer so Cedric died only a few weeks ago.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
Corrected entry: When Sam pushes Frodo out of the way of the Nazgul in Osgiliath, Sam comes in from the left-hand side of the screen, Frodo's right. But when we see the Hobbits tumbling down the stairs, they are falling to their lefts. Surely they should be falling to the right?

The Last Mimzy (2007)
Corrected entry: In the scene where Emma shows the baby-sitter her spinners, she throws them all down at once and they still work. In all the other scenes, she has to spin each one by itself so they work.
Correction: When she did it the very first time, she didn't know what the spinners did. She thought they were just toys, so she was playing with them one at a time. Then, when she showed her babysitter, she was in a hurry to show the woman what she thought would be a really impressive "trick." After that, she began to understand how important and fragile they were and decided to be more careful with them, instead of nonchalantly tossing them at the ground.

The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
Corrected entry: Throughout the film we see the caravan door being opened outwards (and at times being closed with force, which shows it does not swing inwards). However, in the scene at the end of the film when the caravan is blown up, we see a shot in which some matches have been attached to the bottom of the door and the striking piece of the match box stuck to the caravan floor, which means that when the door was opened the caravan would not actually have blown up.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)
Corrected entry: In the maelstrom scene where the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman are firing at each other, the ships are listing at nearly forty-five degrees, but they are firing at each other and scoring hits. In reality the cannons could not possibly be elevated this far.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Corrected entry: Eddie Brock's Bad Teeth. The symbiote is supposed to accentuate the host's bad characteristics. At the end of the movie, when Venom and Spiderman are fighting and just before Eddie Brock is killed, we see that he has bad teeth. When the symbiote pulls back from his face, we can see that his natural teeth are jagged and worn, hence it makes sense that the symbiote would accentuate this effect and give the Venom character vicious razor-sharp teeth like those of a shark. However, if you look at Eddie Brock in any previous scenes, he does not have bad teeth at all, in fact he has quite good teeth. Seems as if the bad teeth were an afterthought added midway through production.
Correction: It is never stated that the symbiote accentuates its hosts undesirable characteristics; only that it "amplifies aggression." Eddie's teeth are "bad" because the symbiote is a part of him, whereas it merely covered Peter; Eddie let it take him over completely. This is why the symbiote has it's natural appearance when Eddie appears as Venom, complete with it's own oral orifice.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Corrected entry: When Belloq and Dietrich are about to start interrogating Marion, Toht arrives and raises his scorched hand. He says "Hail Hitler", but it surely should be "Heil Hitler". There wouldn't be any need to speak in English, not even for the audience's benefit.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)
Corrected entry: In the first scene where everyone is about to be hang, isn't it a bit odd that they are all patiently queueing up to die? None of them seem in the least concerned or disturbed by what is going on. Also, when they get to the gallows, the nooses are at head height, meaning they drop about a foot when the trapdoors opens. Isn't the idea that you drop six feet or more so that your neck breaks? And another thing, there were about eight trapdoors, all of which were released by ONE man pulling ONE lever with ONE hand. Hmm.
Correction: They are despondent and facing armed men: what *should* they be doing? They die by suffocation because Lord Beckett is cruel. Yes, normally the condemned would drop far enough for their neck to break, but Beckett hates pirates so much that he wants these people to suffer before they die. As far as the trapdoors are concerned: a rope tied to each latch holding the door up, and then to the lever, would allow one man to open all eight or so doors at once.

Legally Blonde (2001)
Corrected entry: When Elle, David, and Enid all introduce themselves at the start of the film, Elle says, "Hi, I'm Elle Woods, and this is Bruiser Woods, and we're both Gemini vegetarians." However, feeding your dog a vegetarian diet would make it sick and it would eventually die a long, painful death.

Clockstoppers (2002)
Corrected entry: The premise of the story is that a watch speeds up the molecular structure of the wearer to the point where the rest of the world appears to be at a standstil, a state called 'hypertime'. In that state, the wearer moves through the world so fast that he appears to be invisible to other people. I would estimate that the speed at which someone would have to move to appear 'invisible' would be about the speed of a bullet. I suspect that someone moving through the air at such a speed would experience friction much like a meteor does when entering the earth's atmosphere and thus burn up, or at least they would create massive turbulence such as a supersonic jet creates.

American History X (1998)
Corrected entry: During the shower rape scene, after Derek is slammed against the wall and is falling downward, there is a very brief showing of the attacker's genitalia. You will notice that his external reproductive organ is not erect, which would not have been the case given he had just finished forcing penetration on Derek. The best thing for any director to do in this case would be to have left this completely out altogether.

The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
Corrected entry: When Will Smith is taking his son to daycare and they are talking about nicknames he made reference to Bonanza and Love Boat as shows that he watches during daycare. I don't believe those shows were on during the daytime in 1981. And it wasn't a daycare that ran during the night too otherwise Will Smith wouldn't have been so worried about his wife/girlfriend picking up their son before dinner.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
Corrected entry: In the film's opening it is stated that Frollo gave Quasimodo his name out of cruelty, and that it means "half full". Actually Quasimodo translates (roughly) into "in the manner of". In the book the name was given to the character because Frollo found him on Quasimodo Sunday.
Correction: Actually, it says "half-formed." "Quasi" means "as if," and "modo" means "a way of doing [anything]." Meaning, in this case, that Quasimodo looks as if he were only made in the way humans are made, not as though he is actually human. "Half-formed" actually describes this pretty well. Movie and book discrepancies are not valid mistakes at any rate.

Epic Movie (2007)
Corrected entry: In the battle scene, Peter pauses everyone and the kids attack. When Peter cuts down the line of warriors the one closest to you is obviously real and is moving.

Correction: Where's the mistake? It never says any of the elves were freed. Only that they found the attempt insulting.

If this is your answer, my follow-up question is: Hermione is extremely clever, so why would she be wasting her time knitting items to "free them" if she knows she cannot do so?
