Question: How come SG-1 or any other "SG" team don't bring a DHD from a different planet back to the SGC and then they could hook it up to dial faster?

Stargate SG-1 (1997)
Answer: As the previous answer, plus there'd be the problem of as soon as they disconnected the DHD from its Stargate, the Stargate would shut down as the DHD provides the power to open a wormhole (although under special circumstances such as a black hole power can be drawn from the dialled gate instead).

Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987)
Question: Whenever anyone wants to contact someone else from another part of the ship, they hit their badge and say (for example), "Picard to Engineering." In no episode ever is there an instance where we hear somebody call someone else who is not involved in the current scene. We should assume, therefore, that when communication like this is initiated, it is only heard by the recipient of the page. So the question is, how can the ship's communication system know ahead of time who the person is paging? In other words, if Picard says, "Picard to Engineering," what keeps sickbay from hearing his call? There can't be a time-delay (i.e., the computer does not make the page until it hears the entire page, and then directs it only to the intended recipient) because in many episodes we hear the reply right away. Can anyone explain this? Are we simply "lucky," in that we only hear pages made by or sent to people in the scene we're watching?
Chosen answer: Enterprise's computer directs the call to the aforementioned department. It is then answered by the ranking member of the department. For instance, if Engineering was contacted, and Geordi was in sickbay or off duty, the call would be answered by whoever was "officer of the watch" in Engineering. Mainly, it wouldn't do much for the show to say, "Picard to engineering", "This is engineering, go ahead." "Yes, I'd like to speak to Geordi about some more phaser power, please", "One moment, I'll transfer you."
There is a episode of Voyager where someone calls someone on their combadge and it gets rerouted to another station and someone else answers. Due to a communications error being fixed. The comm signal was rerouted.

Question: Do you think it depends to use your left or right foot for the pedals? Or is there a fixed rule to use either foot? (The accelerator pedal is shaped like a left foot.).
Answer: That's just decorative. The gas pedal is always on the right and using the left foot would be quite awkward.

Peter Pan (2003)
Question: Is there any reason that Mr. Darling and Captain Hook are played by the same actor other than to pay homage to past productions of Peter Pan (as pointed out in trivia)?
Chosen answer: It's a stage tradition. Mr. Darling and Captain Hook are ALWAYS played by the same actor.

The Matrix Revolutions (2003)
Question: Why did the Wachowskis kill Trinity in Reloaded, bring her back to life, and kill her again in this film? The Architect said no matter what Trinity was going to die, so Neo should have just gone straight to the Source in Reloaded and destroy it.
Answer: Neo had no concrete reasons to believe the Architect. He was madly in love (yeah, tell me you would have let your true love die if you knew you could save her!) with Trinity and unwilling to let her die without at least trying. And the directors must have thought it would play more tragically to save her only to lose her later.

Question: When Grant finds out that Billy stole the velociraptor eggs, the room they are in has broken windows. Why is this?
Answer: The Pteranadons broke them attacking the Site B crew before evacuation.

Question: Is the reanimation of dead people the purpose of the virus, or an unforeseen side effect? If it's a side effect, what was the original purpose of the T-Virus?
Answer: Actually the T-Virus was originally meant as a cure for a genetic disorder that Dr. Ashford and James Marcus daughters suffered from. The reanimation was a side effect and James Marcus was killed by Dr. Alexander Isaacs so he could take control of it and turn it into a bio-weapon.
Answer: The original virus was a "Fountain of Youth" type of thing. Reviving dead cells so the host would stay young. It was so powerful that it reanimated the dead.
Answer: Wait, wasn't the original virus meant to control the scientists daughters genetic disease, not an eternal life serum.

Question: Did Halle Berry and Billy Bob Thornton really have sex in the infamous scene?
Answer: As realistic as the sex scene is, it's very uncommon for actors to have sex for a film.
Chosen answer: Both married, on camera, in front of the entire film crew? I don't think so.

Stargate SG-1 (1997)
Question: What happened to Dr. Jackson? I know that he "ascended," but what does that mean/do? Do the actor plan to permanently return to the show, or is he no longer a part of the regular ensemble?
Answer: Daniel "ascended" meaning he became a being of pure energy on a higher plane of existence. This happened because Michael Shanks was unhappy with his parts and wanted to leave the show. After one season with Jonas Quinn (Corin Nemec) as his replacement, Mr. Shanks returned for (presumably) the rest of the series. In the series this was shown as Daniel violating some major rules of the "ascended" and getting "kicked out" and made human again as punishment.

Swordfish (2001)
Question: What actually happens at the end of this film? I know that JT escapes down a staircase and therefore is not killed, but why is there a body? You see Halle Berry get shot, but at the end of the film she is on the boat with Travolta. If he is a good guy, why did he kill all those people? Does Halle Berry actually work for DEA? If not then what is the wire for?
Answer: JT is exactly who he says he is. He leaves a body behind to fool the FBI/CIA into thinking he is dead. Jackman would have believed it too had he not seen him heading down the stairs and the surgically altered corpse. Berry was not hurt, the wire, the DEA story and her getting shot were all parts of a ploy for Jackman to trust and confide in her, making it easier for Travolta to make Jackman do what he wanted. Travolta didn't actually kill any hostages directly himself, (though he did put them in that situation, he is by no means Mr. Innocent) - had the police done what he asked, no one would have been hurt at all. So basically, he IS a good guy, but his methods are somewhat morally lacking.

Thunderball (1965)
Question: As I watched the end scene I wondered: how do James and Domino intend to return to terra firma? They were whisked out of the boat by the plane and are hanging on the end of a long cord so the plane can't land without them being dragged at high speed along the concrete.
Answer: Look up Skyhook online and you'll find out how it was done. The person hanging from the cable wold be pulled aboard by the plane's crew.
Answer: A helicopter could lower a line to them to attach themselves to. They could then cut the rope and be lowered to safety. A bit outlandish, but this is Bond we are talking about after all.

Question: The first time Sarah goes out clubbing with Chenille, they run into some other girls from their school. One of them is Nikki, who gets mean and says that she's 'not walking on eggshells just because someone brought the Brady Bunch to the N*gro club'. Chenille gets offended and yells "Nikki, you did not just call me a N*gro." How is the term N*gro offensive? Or were they just not allowed to say ni**err in this movie? (Perhaps to preserve the rating?) Someone please help - this has been driving me nuts.
Answer: "N*gro" was the PC term in the 60's. While by no means vulgar, it has mostly fallen out of use and some people are offended by it.

The Hunt for Red October (1990)
Question: In the scene in which Jack is asking himself how Ramius is going to get his men off the Red October, how does he figure out what Ramius is going to do?
Answer: Thinking out loud, Jack says, "how do you make men want to get off a nuclear submarine..." the word "nuclear" made him realize that the easiest way to make the crew WANT to leave the sub is to fake a reactor/radiation accident.

Question: What is the meaning of the penguin and Marla saying 'Sly' in the cave?
Answer: The penguin says "slide" and then slides on its belly. Marla repeats it later. I believe they are telling him to let go and be Tyler.
Answer: Penguin is a manifestation of the "happy place" in his head. He seeks comfort in others grieving and this is what is helping him feel again. As someone else stated "slide" is the statement that is uttered. Marla is invading his grieving time and this is a manifestation of it. He can't even get away from her in his meditation, so he ends up leaving it altogether.
