Revealing mistake: When the warrior woman cuts the bikers throat who is trying to grab the woman through the side window of the van its obvious that the knife does not even touch the mans throat, its positioned at his chest and she doesn't even cut the clothing he's wearing.
Continuity mistake: After the Golden Youth is killed by the boomerang his forehead shows the wound right across his head, but when the gang leave the body is dragged round and the would to the forehead is missing.
Continuity mistake: In the opening scene where Max is behind the landau just about to crash it (by activating the supercharger), the interceptor's custom front-end is already destroyed. Then Max accelerates the car and the custom front-end is intact again, to finally be destroyed in the crash.
Factual error: There's no way the gyro helicopter could carry 2 men and four jerrycans of petrol across a desert. It is only built for one person and would never lift off. And where would they put the second person and petrol anyway?
Deliberate mistake: When Max opens the dog food, the lid should be all jagged because of the type of can opener he uses, but when dog and the gyro captain have the can the lid is cut smoothly. This was done so dog didn't get cut whilst eating out of the can.
Visible crew/equipment: In the initial chase of the semi, as we see the view from the Gyro copter viewpoint, just before the semi turns, the camera and operator are plainly visible in the buggy behind the motorcycle.
Plot hole: Max drives from the hillside to the crashed car to save the occupants but the guy with the crossbow doing up his boots somehow doesn't hear Max's V8 engine approaching, or hear Max get out and sneak up on him, this area would be quiet and Max must have parked nearby to get the injured man to his car.
Factual error: Mad Max turns on his engine blower with a switch. The blower in Max's car is driven by a belt attached to the engine itself. The only way to turn it off is to turn off the engine. It is possible to put the blower on an electric motor, but turning it off would simply shut off the oxygen and fuel, both of which are pretty important in an internal-combustion engine.
Suggested correction: Switch-controlled superchargers are real devices, for example the commonly used Toyota SC12 and SC14. They use an electrically controlled magnetic clutch to engage or disengage the pulley. When such devices are disengaged (off), a bypass valve on the air intake redirects air around the supercharger via some extra plumbing. Also, fuel doesn't go through the supercharger - it happens below the supercharger stack as normal (in the carburettor or via fuel injection directly in the cylinder head), so that part of the entry is also wrong. For the Interceptor in the movie, it's true that the Weiand supercharger isn't set up this way. It's all fake for convenience - just a hollow shell with a regular carburettor inside. The switchable effect is simulated through the use of a small water pump connected to the front of the blower drive shaft, driven by a tiny electric motor under the hood. But there is no technical limitation to having a real supercharger controlled with a switch, just like Toyota's SC14.
Revealing mistake: After he gets the jump on him, Max has the helicopter pilot, at the point of a gun, carrying a pole across his shoulders with a supposedly full jerry can hanging at each end. When he finally lets the pilot set the cans down, he drops them rather abruptly (something which might be expected for an exhausted person to do) and they bounce a little bit, and you hear the unmistakable sound of totally empty cans.
Audio problem: The four jerry cans of fuel Max is carrying are in fact plastic and made to carry water. They have screw on caps and smaller breather caps. When the jerry cans are dropped they make the sounds of metal ones.
Visible crew/equipment: In the final crash between the Humongous and Max, as the debris of the smaller vehicle flies around, you can see it's a stunt driver because of the helmet he wore.
Continuity mistake: When the Gyro Captain tells Max to lose the iron the camera pans around Max and there is white paint on his black shoulder pad. We cut to The Gyro Captain dancing and then cut back to Max - the white paint is gone and it looks like wet sand is in its place.
Continuity mistake: When Max carries the fuel cans one of them has a rolled up cloth in one acting as a bung, this disappears between shots, replaced with a cap. All the caps change shape between shots as well.
Continuity mistake: When Max catches up with The Gyro Captain and he flies him to the truck the 4 fuel cans are nowhere to be seen. These cans are instrumental in getting the truck back.
Continuity mistake: At the end of the opening chase Max gets out of his car and runs back to the crashed car, if you look at the sign on the left at the bottom there are two large rocks supporting the legs and one in the middle. From the front looking at Max the the two rocks have disappeared and the one in the middle has moved to the right leg.
Continuity mistake: When the cars leave the compound and are chased down, Max and the Gyro Captain watch the following events unfold from the hillside. Max takes the telescope from the Gyro Captain and looks at the compound, outside in front of the ditch is a pink four door sedan, but when Max walks to the entrance the sedan has been replaced by the black Landau from the opening chase and the other car has disappeared. Continuous scene so no time to swap cars.
Other mistake: The amount of vehicles leaving the compound at the end doesn't make sense and the amount of fuel they carry is far less than they could carry in the tanker. The amount of vehicles they use apart from the bus being used as the gate are never seen parked in the compound throughout the film, they just appear when needed.
Suggested correction: At the end there are seven vehicles (including the bus) leaving the compound. That's the same number seen right at the end. It's quite possible for six vehicles to have been inside the compound. Also, the being able to carry less fuel than in the tanker isn't a mistake; it's just a fact. They sacrificed all that extra fuel in order to be able to leave with any. That was the plan.
Continuity mistake: When Max turns the truck around at the end, Wes is nowhere to be seen, but he suddenly appears just before the head on bang. The gap between the front ram and the road is to narrow for him to be underneath.
Continuity mistake: At the end of the opening chase the Landau crashes into a road sign taking out the bottom arrow pointing to the right. When Max gets out of the interceptor and runs back the bottom arrow is back in place.
Continuity mistake: During the opening chase Max drives through some wreckage. If you look at the driver's side of the interceptor the side exhaust pipes are missing and there appears to be a metal bar there instead, running from the front wheel to the back.
Suggested correction: Spoken like a person with no hearing disability. Maybe the guy was deaf.
Or, with the number of very loud vehicles in Lord Humungus' group, the crossbow man probably figured Max's V-8 interceptor engine noise was the sound of a fellow wasteland raider and didn't warrant his attention.
