Mad Max 2

Continuity mistake: When the rear window of the semi is smashed, you can see in the very next shot that the chain of Wez's ball mace is already hanging from the ceiling to Max's right, long before Wez even starts swinging it and leaves it hanging there after he is killed.

Continuity mistake: After his crash, Max is hiding behind a rock. He draws his shotgun out, and you can see he has no glove on his right hand. Then the interceptor explodes, and he shields his face with his right hand, which now has a glove on it.

Continuity mistake: When Max sneaks up on the raider who's sitting at the wrecked dune buggy with the dying woman and man, look at the crossbow on the ground. At first it's unloaded. Then when the raider sees Max, he reaches for it and it's suddenly loaded and ready to fire.

Continuity mistake: When Max's interceptor rolls down the hill, on its last roll you can see one of the fuel doors pop open (which should actually set off the booby trap and cause the car to explode). When Toadie arrives to look at the tanks, both the doors are now closed.

Continuity mistake: Throughout the whole film, Max's interceptor has windshield wipers attached sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. Probably because they were using more than one interceptor for the movie.

Continuity mistake: When Pappagallo has agreed to let Max drive the escape truck and the tanker is prepared to go, Warrior Woman is seen in her perch on top. In the very next shot (distance change) she is seen in the background just climbing to the top of the tanker. (Pan and scan misses this detail.)

Continuity mistake: The one shot that shows Max's car approaching and colliding with the rear of the landau coupe in the opening chase scene is reversed. The car has one door mirror on the driver's side (right) but here we see the mirror on the left, as is the car's driver. The blower's belt is on the right side when it should be on the left. Continuity mistake: After the Golden Youth is killed by the boomerang his forehead shows the wound right across his head, but when the gang leave the body is dragged round and the would to the forehead is missing.

Continuity mistake: In the opening scene where Max is behind the landau just about to crash it (by activating the supercharger), the interceptor's custom front-end is already destroyed. Then Max accelerates the car and the custom front-end is intact again, to finally be destroyed in the crash.

Victor De La Torre

Continuity mistake: When the Gyro Captain tells Max to lose the iron the camera pans around Max and there is white paint on his black shoulder pad. We cut to The Gyro Captain dancing and then cut back to Max - the white paint is gone and it looks like wet sand is in its place.

Continuity mistake: When Max carries the fuel cans one of them has a rolled up cloth in one acting as a bung, this disappears between shots, replaced with a cap. All the caps change shape between shots as well.

Continuity mistake: When Max catches up with The Gyro Captain and he flies him to the truck the 4 fuel cans are nowhere to be seen. These cans are instrumental in getting the truck back.

Continuity mistake: At the end of the opening chase Max gets out of his car and runs back to the crashed car, if you look at the sign on the left at the bottom there are two large rocks supporting the legs and one in the middle. From the front looking at Max the the two rocks have disappeared and the one in the middle has moved to the right leg.

Continuity mistake: When the cars leave the compound and are chased down, Max and the Gyro Captain watch the following events unfold from the hillside. Max takes the telescope from the Gyro Captain and looks at the compound, outside in front of the ditch is a pink four door sedan, but when Max walks to the entrance the sedan has been replaced by the black Landau from the opening chase and the other car has disappeared. Continuous scene so no time to swap cars.

Continuity mistake: When Max turns the truck around at the end, Wes is nowhere to be seen, but he suddenly appears just before the head on bang. The gap between the front ram and the road is to narrow for him to be underneath.

Continuity mistake: At the end of the opening chase the Landau crashes into a road sign taking out the bottom arrow pointing to the right. When Max gets out of the interceptor and runs back the bottom arrow is back in place.

Continuity mistake: During the opening chase Max drives through some wreckage. If you look at the driver's side of the interceptor the side exhaust pipes are missing and there appears to be a metal bar there instead, running from the front wheel to the back.

Continuity mistake: When Max arrives at the compound he gets out of the interceptor and closes the door. When asked to turn around the door is open.

Continuity mistake: During the final chase, the tanker turns around and heads towards to setting sun, but in the overhead, the sunlight is coming from behind. Right as Wez is killed in the collision with the Humongous, it goes from late evening to early afternoon.

Movie Nut

Continuity mistake: When Max leaves the compound and is being pursued by Wez and Toadie, the ground is flat as far as the eye can see. When Max's car begins to roll, the ground is still flat. Suddenly Max winds up in a deep terrain which came from nowhere and wasn't seen in any previous shots.

Visible crew/equipment: When Wez rips the door off the tanker you can see a crouched crew member next to Max. This has been disputed but it is there, watch underneath the steering wheel just after Wez starts shouting "Go! Go! Go!". (01:19:05)

Trivia: You might have to look close, but the Gyro Captain's copter is completely covered with pornographic pictures. It took many viewings for me to notice this. Apparently he's very sexually motivated, as later in the movie he complains that the only thing he really misses from the old world is lingerie, and the only reason he joins the escapees in the end is because he wants to be with the cute blond girl.

Suggested correction: Completely covered is an exaggeration. There is one picture on one of the rear fins. Also, that's an assumption about his motivation to join the escapees. It could just as easily be said that he's found people who accept him, and even make him their leader. That could be very welcome to someone who's been alone for so long.

Question: What type of car is the red Hummungus car with the bat on the hood that Max destroys during the chase?

Answer: The car is either a FORD XA Falcon or Fiarmont Coupe, built in the early 1970s. The X series falcons were only availible in Australia, and you'll find most of the vechiles in these movies (the cars at least) are some hybrid of the Falcon. Here's a link to the car: http://www.madmaxmovies.com/cars/madmax2/RedXACoupe/index.html. and to the site in general: http://www.madmaxmovies.com/cars/madmax2/.
