Continuity mistake: The one shot that shows Max's car approaching and colliding with the rear of the landau coupe in the opening chase scene is reversed. The car has one door mirror on the driver's side (right) but here we see the mirror on the left, as is the car's driver. The blower's belt is on the right side when it should be on the left. (00:05:30)
Visible crew/equipment: When the dog rolls over after Max opens the dog food can, you can see the lower leg and foot of one of the crew wearing a thong/sandal on the rock to the left of the Gyrocaptain's head. The dog looks backwards in that direction towards the end of the shot and seems to be given a command to get up, so it may be the dog's handler staying close. (00:16:36)
Revealing mistake: After Max gets the rig inside the refinery compound, Pappagallo drives off Humungus' horde with a flamethrower. The moment he stops firing, one of the goons hits him in the leg with a crossbow bolt. The moment the bolt impacts, a guide wire can be seen. (00:52:20)
Revealing mistake: As the tanker approaches the camera in the final chase, you can see the stunt driver in an obvious, terrible wig in control. (01:17:30)
Visible crew/equipment: When Wez rips the door off the tanker you can see a crouched crew member next to Max. This has been disputed but it is there, watch underneath the steering wheel just after Wez starts shouting "Go! Go! Go!". (01:19:05)
Continuity mistake: When the warrior and his perch is pulled off the back of the tanker, there is an explosion as it crashes. You can see a white, square object that may be an explosive device go off like a flare and then explode. (01:19:20)
Continuity mistake: In the final chase scene, Lord Humungus' clothing keeps changing (in fact it's clear that the actor playing him is switching). He switches between bear arms, to wearing a sort of fur vest, to a full length sleeve shirt under the vest. (01:20:00 - 01:29:00)
Visible crew/equipment: In the famous stunt scene where the motorcycle driver flips end over end, you can see the blue pad the stunt driver is supposed to land on. Only in the Widescreen version. Not visible in the full frame version. (01:21:50)
Continuity mistake: When the rear window of the semi is smashed, you can see in the very next shot that the chain of Wez's ball mace is already hanging from the ceiling to Max's right, long before Wez even starts swinging it and leaves it hanging there after he is killed.
Revealing mistake: When the tanker crashes at the end the driver is clearly wearing a crash helmet.
Continuity mistake: After his crash, Max is hiding behind a rock. He draws his shotgun out, and you can see he has no glove on his right hand. Then the interceptor explodes, and he shields his face with his right hand, which now has a glove on it.
Continuity mistake: When Max sneaks up on the raider who's sitting at the wrecked dune buggy with the dying woman and man, look at the crossbow on the ground. At first it's unloaded. Then when the raider sees Max, he reaches for it and it's suddenly loaded and ready to fire.
Continuity mistake: When Max's interceptor rolls down the hill, on its last roll you can see one of the fuel doors pop open (which should actually set off the booby trap and cause the car to explode). When Toadie arrives to look at the tanks, both the doors are now closed.
Revealing mistake: When the gyro captain crashes, the rotor on the craft is already bent before it hits the ground.
Continuity mistake: Throughout the whole film, Max's interceptor has windshield wipers attached sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. Probably because they were using more than one interceptor for the movie.
Visible crew/equipment: In the final truck chase scene, Wez shoots Warrior Woman with a quad-barrel arrow gun. In the shot where the arrows impact on her, a guide wire for one of the arrows (red-tailed one) is visible.
Revealing mistake: When they leave the compound at the end, the gyro captain drops some petrol bombs on the ground as he flies over the bad guys. The ground is already wet with petrol where the bombs land.
Continuity mistake: When Pappagallo has agreed to let Max drive the escape truck and the tanker is prepared to go, Warrior Woman is seen in her perch on top. In the very next shot (distance change) she is seen in the background just climbing to the top of the tanker. (Pan and scan misses this detail.)
Other mistake: When Max is making his escape from the compound in the Interceptor, he turns on the blower to speed through the bad guys' camp. Here you can see everyone running at fast-forward speed.
Revealing mistake: When the gyro thing is in the air and that bloke grabs the snake you can clearly see that it is a rubber snake.
Answer: The car is either a FORD XA Falcon or Fiarmont Coupe, built in the early 1970s. The X series falcons were only availible in Australia, and you'll find most of the vechiles in these movies (the cars at least) are some hybrid of the Falcon. Here's a link to the car: http://www.madmaxmovies.com/cars/madmax2/RedXACoupe/index.html. and to the site in general: http://www.madmaxmovies.com/cars/madmax2/.
