Continuity mistake: When Max arrives at the compound he gets out of the interceptor and closes the door. When asked to turn around the door is open.
Continuity mistake: During the final chase, the tanker turns around and heads towards to setting sun, but in the overhead, the sunlight is coming from behind. Right as Wez is killed in the collision with the Humongous, it goes from late evening to early afternoon.
Factual error: It's impossible for the Gyro captain's helicopter to land in the compound the way it did. Those type of helicopters can't hover like normal ones and have to land on runways due to their speed. It can't just land on the ground directly.
Continuity mistake: When Max leaves the compound and is being pursued by Wez and Toadie, the ground is flat as far as the eye can see. When Max's car begins to roll, the ground is still flat. Suddenly Max winds up in a deep terrain which came from nowhere and wasn't seen in any previous shots.
Other mistake: Max had already driven his car a distance along the highway before he crashed. When the Gyro captain spots the smoke the next morning, it's coming from behind the hill which is way too close and suggests that Max crashed right after passing the knight riders.
Other mistake: As the pink Chevy is blasted with flame from above, all the fire is on the hood, and top of the car. But the explosion is from the tank under the car. The body and hood would have shielded the tank.
Continuity mistake: As Max and the Gyro captain watch the refinery, you see the Gyro captain go to pull out a handkerchief. From behind, he wipes his mouth and puts the handkerchief away. Back in front, he repeats the motions.
Continuity mistake: As Wez comes up on Max's left, he has no facial equipment on. After he is hit, as he veers off, he has a pair of goggles or shades on.
Continuity mistake: As Wez and his buddy ride up on Max's left, the companion has thin arms and a tattoo on his shoulder. After Wez is hit and veers left, you see the guy is a stunt man as his shoulder and arm are more muscular and has no tattoo.
Revealing mistake: As Max runs through the encampment, a car is run off by the semi. After it hits the back of the car being worked on, the wire pulling the car off the supports to crush the dummy's legs is visible.
Continuity mistake: After the announcement by the Humongous, the Feral Kid retrieves his bloodied boomerang. As he crawls through his tunnel, the amount of blood changes as he does so.
Continuity mistake: When Max opens the can of dog food he uses a can opener that would leave a jagged edge. He the throws it to Dog who starts to eat it, but the can and lid are now smooth around the edges.
Continuity mistake: When Max walks over to the auto gyro, from the overhead shot there is only one set of footprints in the sand leading away and the rest of the sand looks like it's been raked, then when the Gyro Captain appears the sand is covered in footprints.
Revealing mistake: As one of the raiders shoots Papagallo with an arrow, you can see the wire it went along to his thigh.
Visible crew/equipment: When the pink car is set on fire at the gate, there is an obvious cable pulling the car backwards as it blows up.
Visible crew/equipment: After Toady gets his fingers cut off by the boomerang, the goon with the blue tinted goggles has what appears to be the camera crew reflected in his left lens.
Visible crew/equipment: When the camera does a close up of a goon, it looks like the lighting panel is reflected in his left lens.
Continuity mistake: While watching the Humongous and his horde leave the compound, the Gyro Captain is wiping his mouth, and puts his hankie away. When the camera faces him, he repeats pulling out the hankie, and wipes his mouth again.
Continuity mistake: After the Warrior Woman is shot in the stomach, she starts to fall over the side. In the close up, the left corner of her mouth is clean. As she settles on the side, there's a trickle of blood going down toward the left side of her chin. Impossible, as the wind would have smeared it along the cheek.
Continuity mistake: As the paraplegic warrior pats at the flames on his legs, the arrow he was shot with is missing, and back in the close up of him looking at his now on-fire hands.
Answer: The car is either a FORD XA Falcon or Fiarmont Coupe, built in the early 1970s. The X series falcons were only availible in Australia, and you'll find most of the vechiles in these movies (the cars at least) are some hybrid of the Falcon. Here's a link to the car: http://www.madmaxmovies.com/cars/madmax2/RedXACoupe/index.html. and to the site in general: http://www.madmaxmovies.com/cars/madmax2/.
