Ratatouille

Other mistake: When Remy and Emile are cooking the mushroom on the roof, notice that the part of the antenna Remy is actually turning is moving slower, and inconsistently than the end of the same antenna with the two prongs at the left end. (00:06:30)

Continuity mistake: When Remy and Emile are cooking the mushroom on the roof, notice that the mushroom is skewered on the antenna. When Remy and Emile are hit by lightning and sent careening off the roof, the mushroom is instantly on a stick in Remy's hand, instead of the antenna. It could've been sent flying by the lightning bolt, but even if it was, there was no stick in the previous shot for it to have ended up on. (00:07:50)

Continuity mistake: When Remy fixes the soup Linguini has ruined, Remy uses a large wooden spoon to stir the soup. When Remy is caught cooking by Linguini, he leaves the spoon in the soup. A few seconds later, the spoon is no longer in the soup and disappears. (00:24:50 - 00:25:30)

Ratatouille mistake picture

Continuity mistake: Right before Chef Skinner exits the kitchen, in an attempt to stop the soup from being delivered, there is no ladder to the right of the door. Then when he re-enters the kitchen, a ladder appears next to the door. (00:25:40)

Continuity mistake: When Linguini (being controlled by Remi) kisses Colette, the pepper spray she attempted to spray him with is shown right next to his face, but when the shot cuts, the spray is suddenly further away from his face. (01:05:40)

Casual Person

Audio problem: After the kitchen staff abandon Linguini because the truth of his success is revealed, Alfredo walks into and shuts the door to the kitchen's office. As the door closes the sound is noticeably delayed. [Fixed on Blu-Ray]. (01:31:25)

Continuity mistake: When Colette is riding her motorcycle through the traffic and is alerted to stop quickly, she is between lanes. As she is staring at Gusteau's Cookbook in a Bookstore window and the horns start to sound, she is in a lane holding up a line of vehicles. (01:31:37)

Continuity mistake: When Colette is fleeing Gusteau's after Linguini reveals Remy, she skids to a stop at a red light, sliding between two rows of several cars. However, a few moments later when the light turns green, there's a row of cars stuck behind her where there wasn't room for them to have been before. (01:31:55)

Continuity mistake: Right before Anton Ego eats the ratatouille, there is a shot of the right side of his face and his left hand holding a fork with the ratatouille on it. Very close to his left hand, in that same shot, is also a glass of wine, a lamp, and a small pot of flowers. Then right before the image zooms away from him into his flashback in the next shot, after eating the ratatouille, the shot shows a glass of wine and now a bottle of wine next to his left hand, while the lamp and pot of flowers moved closer to his right hand. (01:36:20)

Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the movie when the crazy lady goes after Remy and Emile with the shotgun, she fires three shots at them: two in the wall and one towards the ceiling when Emile is crossing the banister. After Emile crosses the banister, look at the ceiling around the chandelier in the next shot. There are 4 shotgun holes in the ceiling.

Deliberate mistake: Main headlines in newspapers appear translated for each country for the kids to understand it, but the rest of the news appear in English, despite the movie taking place in Paris. Also, most signs -such as the poisons in the window shop- have labels written in English.

Suggested correction: By that logic, it's a mistake that the characters speak English. It's an American movie set in France, and like you said, it's a kids' movie. Everything is in English for simplicity's sake.

Continuity mistake: In the beginning when the crazy shotgun lady is after Remy and Emile, she knocks over the umbrella canister when she pulls out her shotgun. Watch for that canister as the scene progresses. It goes from being knocked over to being upright and back to knocked over during the scene.

Continuity mistake: When Remy and Emile are cooking the mushroom, Remy has it skewered on the antenna on top of the house. The end of the antenna part that Remy is using has a piece on the end that sits perpendicular to the part Remy has the mushroom on. It would've been really hard for him to get the mushroom on there without it breaking, and in the shot it looks intact to me.

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film, Remy and Émile are at the old lady's house. The cooking show comes on TV. In one shot, the TV is facing straight forward, sitting perfectly parallel to the edge of the cupboard. In the next shot, the TV has moved to the left and is sitting at an angle. Watch its relation to the edge of the cupboard.

Continuity mistake: When Rémy crashes through the window, the cookbook appears to contain only about 10 heavy pages. They don't look like clumps of thinner pages, which might be the case if they were wet, but they aren't. The animators seem to have drawn the pages in a hurry since they aren't a plot point yet. Later in the sewer, when Rémy meets "Gusteau", even though the book has been soaked during the trip, it now is animated with hundreds of normal pages, and they are inexplicably dry.

Continuity mistake: Remy is reunited with his father in Paris. They are in a conversation at a little table. Remy's 'cup' moves closer to the edge of the table, towards our left, in several shots.

Question: When Remy is stuck in a cage, chef Gusteau tells Remy he never did. Remy never did what?

Answer: Remy tells the imaginary Gusteau that he's given up, and Gusteau replies that Remy is only as free as he imagines himself to be. Remy counters that he's "sick of pretending" to be a rat for his father and to be a human through Linguini. He then adds that he even pretends Gusteau actually exists, just so he can have somebody to talk to, and that all of Gusteau's responses are what he himself already knows to be true. So when Remy asks, "Why do I need to pretend?" that's when Gusteau tells him, "But you don't Remy. You never did." Which basically means Remy is both a rat, and an extraordinary cook.
