Continuity mistake: During the pursuit scene in St-Petersburg, two military trucks breaks a fence and fall in the water. The first one contains 2 passengers, but 3 are ejected from it and the second one contains 3 passengers and 2 are ejected from it. More strange, the one with 2 passenger was behind the one with 3 passengers some shots before. I don't see why they would chase between them. (01:18:40)
Continuity mistake: When the tank has driven down the tunnel, it emerges and destroys a good section of the building, including a window. When the trucks come through a few seconds later the damage is a lot less and the window has reappeared. (01:18:45)
Revealing mistake: During the tank chase, there is an overhead shot of the tank sliding round a corner. In this shot you can see scars in the road from a previous take. (01:19:40)
Continuity mistake: In the middle of the tank chase, you see that part of one tank's front left flap (or whatever you call the thing hanging in the very front of the tank between its tracks) went missing - an obvious result of ramming through buildings, etc. In all subsequent tank shots, though, you see the flap in perfect condition again. (01:19:45)
Revealing mistake: In the tank chase when the police cars and military jeeps crash on each other, just before the camera goes to view the tank, you can see the dummies in the police cars. (01:20:00)
Continuity mistake: In the tank chase scene, if you look at the cars, you will see that the same cars keep cropping up throughout the entire chase. (01:20:40)
Continuity mistake: As Bond drives over the jeeps and police cars one of the flaps on the tanks gets damaged. It is then back in one piece in the next shot. This is not to be confused with when one flap goes missing. (01:20:50)
Revealing mistake: When Oumarov tells his driver to go left just after Bond has obtained the statue on his tank, there is a shot of the tank with Bond stood up driving. However, it is not Pierce Brosnan. (01:21:00)
Continuity mistake: In the tank chase scene, when Orumov's car goes down the alley, the headlight and corner of the car are smashed. However, when the car emerges from the alley, the corner is intact. (01:21:08)
Continuity mistake: In the tank chase scene Ourmarov tells the driver to go left. The tank then turns left as well. Camera changes and the tank turns again. (01:21:20)
Revealing mistake: As Bond is chasing the car in the tank, as he makes a right turn, and the skid marks of a previous take are seen on the pavement. (01:22:05)
Revealing mistake: One of the cars that gets crushed by a tank has an obvious dummy in it. The camera lingers on it to show it bouncing rigidly up again after being run over. (01:23:29)
Continuity mistake: When James is chasing Natalia and Ouromov through St. Petersburg in the tank, James crashes through various walls and statues, but when he is looking down at Xenia, Ouromov, and Natalia as they get on the train, the tank is wiped clean with no sign of bricks, Perrier cans, or any other debris. (01:25:16)
Factual error: When Alec and Xenia escape from the train with a helicopter, that helicopter is a Robinson R22, piston engine powered. So we shouldn't hear a turbine noise but a sound like an car's engine. (01:27:00)
Revealing mistake: When the roof of the train opens so the helicopter can take off, it shakes a lot. It doesn't really look armored. (01:27:05)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Bond in the tank has caught up with the train [hard as that is to believe] they show Bond firing a shot at the train. After the shot is fired they show Bond jump out of the tank and run off screen. Approximately 4-10 seconds later they show Bond hiding by the sides of the tracks as the train crashes into the tank, but he appears to be roughly 200 yards or so down the track. I had no idea that Bond could run that fast. Bond also did not seem winded as he entered the cabin of the engine. (01:27:55)
Revealing mistake: When James Bond is cutting the floor of the train with his laser watch, there's a faint outline of some kind of explosives that creates the sparkles. (01:28:30)
Visible crew/equipment: When Wade delivers the plane, he hands Bond a bag from Q and looks around. When he does a light screen is reflected in his glasses. (01:31:40)
Continuity mistake: When Bond and Natalya fly over the artificial lake, a missile is fired from within the lake. Where did this missile come from? Once the lake has been drained and the dish emerges, there is no submarine stranded there, nor can you see a missile battery. (01:37:00)
Plot hole: In Cuba, Bond and Natalia are in a plane flying over a lake, attempting to find the Goldeneye control station. The station is hidden, and the Janus Group inside obviously does not want the operation discovered until it's time to go with their plan. They are hidden so well, Bond and Natalia are about to give up. Yet, the enemy fires a rocket at the plane to shoot it down, and sends Xenia in pursuit to finish them off. This does not logically make sense, as the rocket would be a dead giveaway that the base is actually there and lets Bond know it. That, and the rocket would be seen by the US government, letting them know that Janus is there. So even if the rocket succeeds in killing Bond, it would give the US government a precise target and would undermine Janus' entire operation. The logical thing to have done would let Bond leave empty handed. (01:37:00)
Suggested correction: Even if Janus believes he's shooting at Bond and thus alerting the US government, he doesn't believe the US government can act fast enough to stop him. Janus is fully convinced that the only way his plan can fail is through Bond, so giving away his location as a trade for Bond's head still isn't too far off. Also, Janus knows Bond well enough to believe that Bond would never leave empty-handed under any circumstances, so he'd better take the clear shot now than allow Bond to enter his base.
