Continuity mistake: When the reporter tells Dex this is his 500th case solved, there are extras in the background cheering. One of them to the right of shot is a man with ginger hair, moustache and beard. In one shot, he is wearing a light beige blazer, purple bow tie and white shirt, but in the next shot, when the reporter asks what is his secret, he is suddenly wearing a brown jacket, green bow tie and black shirt. Plot hole: When Dex is rescuing the baby kittens from the Fat Cat Burglar on the hot air balloon, whilst it is flying over the city, the four hairless hamster henchmen fly off the balloon and plummet down onto the street. Dex then saves the baby kittens and lands in the park, where two of the henchmen are shown landing in the park after plummeting. Three problems with this. 1) The henchmen fell before Dex saved the kittens and made his way down to the park, so how did they land on the ground long after Dex landed on the ground? 2) How did they land in the park if they plummeted from above a street? 3) How are there only two henchmen shown landing when four of them were shown falling all at once? (00:04:30)
Continuity mistake: When Dex says the secret is inside to the reporter, the hamster henchman lands on the ground behind him, but a couple of shots later, they have disappeared. (00:04:30)
Continuity mistake: As the crowd of people in the park begin to leave, in the wide angle shot, watch the background behind Dex. There is a large quantity of red flowers, a building to the left of shot in the far background and a forest further back than the flowers and the building. The shot cuts to Dex saying "The real secret is that I am scared out of my mind Dan" and the entire background changes. There are now trees that have suddenly appeared behind Dex in the background, the red flowers are now way further back than in the previous shot and a building has suddenly appeared on the right hand side of the shot, while the building to the left of shot shown in the previous angle has moved to another part of the park, as shown when Dan tells him he can do it with him to help him. Continuity mistake: When Dex shows Dan the four carrots ring he plans on giving to Sunshine, as Dan says "You got four carrots?", Dex's hand is around a couple of inches away from Dan. The shot then cuts to a closer angle of Dan and Dex's hand is nowhere in sight. (00:04:50)
Continuity mistake: When Dex asks Dan if Sunshine will like the four carrot ring, his shadow is seen behind him, but when he says everything has got to be perfect, his shadow has changed position. (00:04:55)
Continuity mistake: When Dan tells Dex he could give Sunshine a crackerjack ring and she'd still say yes, his shadow is behind him, but in the next shot, his shadow is more off to his right. (00:05:00)
Revealing mistake: When Sunshine is playing ball with the children, she is shown kicking a melon up and down. As the shot pans around, the melon can be seen passing in front of a kid standing towards the foreground. (00:05:40)
Continuity mistake: A kid playing with Sunshine kicks a melon towards Dan and it splatters leaving goop from the melon all over the ground around him. When Sunshine walks over to Dan a couple of seconds later, the goop from the melon has suddenly vanished from the ground. (00:05:45)
Audio problem: When one of the kids kicks a melon ball at Dan's face, the group of children playing can be heard laughing, but only one of the kids actually has their mouth open. The rest of the group are laughing with their mouths entirely closed. (00:05:50)
Continuity mistake: When Sunshine is talking with Dex, when she suggests a hot air balloon ride and then says "Oh no. You just did that", she finishes saying the line with her hands are on her hips, but in the next shot, her arms are suddenly extended. (00:06:40)
Audio problem: When Dex picks up Sunshine, she asks "Mr. Dogtective. Are you sweeping me of my feet?", but her lips don't move. (00:07:15)
Continuity mistake: When Dex takes Sunshine over to her dinner, Dex is carrying Sunshine and spinning her around. There is a shot from behind them where Maximilius says "All right. Your table's ready", where Dex stops spinning Sunshine around, but in the next shot, Dex finishes the last spin a second time. (00:07:20)
Continuity mistake: When Dex and Sunshine are having dinner in the park, as Dex says "I'll be fine. Have to be. To make sure nothing bad happens to you", there are various foods on the table in front of him, such as a bowl of apples, a pineapple, a banana split and a bunch of grapes. A couple of shots later, a sundae has suddenly appeared in front of Dex on the table out of nowhere. (00:08:15)
Continuity mistake: When Maximillius runs to Dex and Sunshine to warm them about Dan, Dex has the four carrot ring in his hand, but when Dan flies over them a couple seconds later, the ring has disappeared. (00:08:20)
Continuity mistake: At Dex and Sunshine's dinner in the park, when Dex says "Here goes", he begins to reach for his pocket to take the ring out, but in the next shot, the ring is suddenly in his hand, out of his pocket. (00:08:20)
Revealing mistake: When Dan is crashing his plane the first time, just as Maximillius shouts "He's gonna crash again", both he and Sunshine are looking upwards towards Dan. Dex is looking upwards in the same direction, but his eyes are facing a different direction than the direction Sunshine and Maximillius is looking. (00:08:30)
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Clipboard tells Mr. Leonard he wants to test the Brand X elixir, Mr. Leonard says "Brand X, huh", beginning to put his hands on his side, but in the next shot, his hands are suddenly off his side, slightly raised and clasped together. (00:10:50)
Revealing mistake: After Mr. Clipboard stomps on the bag of chips, Mr. Leonard begins to walk over to it saying that was a perfectly good bag of chips. In the far background, there is a sign in the background listing what is located in the aisle. The shot begins to pan in towards Leonard, and some of the animation on the sign in the background becomes erased, leaving some of the colour and detail on the sign incomplete. (00:11:35)
Continuity mistake: After Dan wakes up Dex, he tells him he misses Sunshine too, whilst looking down at the floor, but in the next shot he's looking at Dex. (00:12:35)
