Revealing mistake: In the opening shot, when it pans towards Mr. Leonard and the old lady, the street lamp that is positioned to the right of Mr. Leonard's car begins to pass in front of the car even though it is placed on the other side of it. (00:00:20)
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Leonard is closing up Marketropolis, there is nothing behind his car, but when he begins to back out of the parking lot seconds later, a shopping cart has suddenly appeared behind his car. (00:00:20 - 00:01:05)
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Leonard is closing Marketropolis, he switches off the 'Marketropolis Market' sign, but when Mr. Leonard leaves the store, the sign is suddenly switched back on again. (00:00:30 - 00:01:05)
Audio problem: When the old lady tells Mr. Leonard not to work too late and replies that he is just closing up, he then says "Nothing much happens around here after dark", but his lips don't match the dialogue near the end of the sentence. (00:00:30)
Revealing mistake: The exact same shot of Mr. Leonard's car beginning to pull out of the store after closing Marketropolis is used three different times in the movie. The first time is one minute into the movie. The exact same shot is used 11 mins 55 secs into the movie after Brand X visits. The third time is 41 mins 55 secs into the movie after Dex and Dan get into the office. This shown by the car being parked in the exact same place, the car showing the exact same movements and the car hitting a trolley, all positioned in the same place, on each occasion. Plot hole: When the supermarket changes into the Marketropolis world for the first time, all of the inhabitants are able to come outside, but a large quantity of cars can be seen driving the streets. The market only changed into their world, and allowed them to come outside mere seconds earlier. This is too quick for the inhabitants to create this quantity of cars driving in the short span of time. (00:01:20)
Audio problem: When Vlad Chocool is first introduced, a bird bumps into him and Vlad yells "Watch where you're going. I'm flying here" at it, then gets hit by the Vlasic Pickles stork and yells "Would excuse me kill you? Oh great, now I forgot where I was going." His mouth doesn't match up the dialogue when he says this. (00:01:40)
Revealing mistake: In the establishing shots of the Marketropolis world, a group of people are practicing martial arts in front of the Kung Tofu palace. The people training are visibly the exact same character design duplicated over and over. (00:02:05)
Revealing mistake: When Dex is first introduced, he is standing on top of a hot air balloon with four hairless hamster henchmen and the Fat Cat Burglar surrounding him. When Dex first appears onscreen, the henchman wearing yellow behind him can be seen with his right leg floating above the hot air balloon surface. (00:02:50)
Character mistake: When Dex is rescuing the three baby kittens from the Fat Cat Burglar, he says to the burglar "I'm giving you one last chance to hand him over before I cash in your coupons for you." The Fat Cat Burglar is holding three kittens hostage, so in this context, Dex should have said "hand them over" and not "hand him over." (00:02:55)
Suggested correction: He says "hand ‘em over" (meaning "them"), not "him."
He says "hand him over", not "hand ‘em over." This is evident by the fact that there is a distinct H heard, plus there is also a distinct I heard after the H, showing that he says "hand him over" and not "hand ‘em over." It is possible the line "hand ‘em over" was written in the script, but that is not what is heard onscreen.
I watched the scene several times to verify prior to making the correction and I heard ‘em every time.
Continuity mistake: When Dex tells the Fat Cat Burglar he is giving him one last chance, the hamster in yellow behind him is standing mostly still with some upper body movements, but in the next shot, the hamster in yellow is suddenly spinning around in circles. (00:02:55)
Continuity mistake: When Dex confronts the Fat Cat Burglar, in the wide angle where he says "one last chance", the henchman in yellow behind him is standing on a white coloured section of the hot air balloon. In the next shot, the henchman is now suddenly standing between a purple section and white section of the hot air balloon. (00:02:55)
Continuity mistake: Just after the Fat Cat Burglar says "It is you, the great Dex Dogtective who's about to take a fall. Or should I say, be pushed", the shot cuts a wide angle where the hairless hamster henchmen are cornering Dex. Behind Dex is a henchman wearing red who is standing behind Dex on his left, but in the next shot, the henchman in red is suddenly standing behind Dex on his right. (00:03:05)
Continuity mistake: When the Fat Cat Burglar tells the hairless hamster henchmen to exterminate Dex, the shot cuts to Dex quickly gulping a raisin. In this shot, the henchman wearing red is standing directly behind Dex. In the next shot, the henchman in red is suddenly standing more to Dex's right. (00:03:15)
Revealing mistake: When Dex takes out the cheese when the hairless hamsters advance on him, the hamster in red doesn't appear to be looking at the cheese. His eye movements are pointing towards the hot air balloon below him, but his head is moving in sync where Dex is waving the cheese, suggesting that he is supposed to be looking at the cheese. (00:03:20)
Other mistake: After Dex lures the hairless hamster henchmen away from the hot air balloon with a piece of cheese, they leap off the balloon to try and reach the cheese and they plummet to the ground. When the final henchman is falling from the sky, Dex and the Fat Cat Burglar are visible in the far background, but they are paying no attention to any of the henchmen plummeting and are instead just looking at each other. Given the fact that the Fat Cat Burglar has just lost his henchmen and Dex needed to make sure they were out of the picture so he could rescue the baby kittens, there is no real reason that they would ignore the henchmen falling. (00:03:35)
Audio problem: When the hamster henchman fall from the hot air balloon, the Fat Cat Burglar supposedly says "My mother would be so ashamed" but it is apparent that when he gets to the M in ashamed, the line comes to an abrupt stop, despite their being no reason for him to stop speaking. It comes off like he's saying "ashame" rather than "ashamed." (00:03:40)
Audio problem: When Dex tells the Fat Cat Burglar he's going to send him to the cooler, the burglar says to Dex "I'm gonna kill you!" but his lips do not match up with the line. (00:03:50)
Plot hole: After Dex saves the baby kittens from the Fat Cat Burglar, he makes his descent to the park where a crowd is waiting for his arrival to celebrate his 500th consecutive case solved; the 500th case being Dex saving the kittens. The problem is, Dex only saved the kittens, and therefore only solved the 500th case, mere seconds before landing in the park, so there is no way the news of this could have broke in that short span of time, and nowhere near enough time for the crowd to be ready in the park for his arrival. The crowd leaves immediately after, so it is clear they were there for Dex and could have not been there for anything else. (00:04:20)
Continuity mistake: When Dex is being interviewed in the park, he is holding the basket of baby kittens that he rescued. He is never shown handing the basket to anybody else, but just seconds later, as everyone leaves and Dan arrives in the scene, the basket of baby kittens has suddenly vanished. (00:04:30)
