Continuity mistake: After Popper gets the other penguins he opens the box and leaves it in the living room, but when the kid opens the door the box disappears.
Factual error: In the scene straight after the opening credits we are taken to Baker Street where construction work is being done. This work is identified by a sign with a logo as being for the underground line. The logo type face was developed by a Mr. Edward Johnston for London Underground from 1913 but the distinctive typeface used in the film was not in place until 1919. This is obviously long after the 1891 setting of the film.
Factual error: When Nate dies by the alien moon rocks, his helmet visor "explodes." The visor in the film shatters like glass, but the real visors on actual spacesuits are made of polycarbonate, a plastic that does not shatter but deforms.
Factual error: In one of the first major scenes where Matt Franklin and Tori Frederking are being introduced at the rental store - there is a shot where you can see the entrance of the store, and there is an electronic article surveillance detector on either side of the entrance to the store. This technology for use in a video rental store (for VHS tapes) did not exist in the 1980s.
Continuity mistake: When Johnny and Kate are having dinner in her apartment and Ambrose knocks on the door, Kate puts all the dinner away leaving a few candles on the table. The table is still like this when Kate and Ambrose leave the apartment, but when Johnny notices that the killer cleaner is in the apartment, the table is set up again.
Continuity mistake: When Alvin is making the big SOS sign, one shot shows the whole beach and Simon and Theodore are in the middle of the big letter O. In the next shot, they are at the O's edge.
Other mistake: On one of the SHIELD monitors, "perimeter" is spelled "perimiter".
Factual error: When Tom Cruise chases the villain in a parking lot in Mumbai, the "Parking" sign is written in Kannada (the scene was shot in the Sun Network station at Bangalore). Regional signs in Mumbai are in Hindi or Marathi (the state language of Maharashtra, of which Mumbai is the capital).
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Linda and Blu are on the computer, when Tulio "communicates" with Blu, the computer is way too much to the right. It reappears when Blu starts squawking.
Factual error: When a global map is shown, the location of Toronto is incorrect. What is labelled as Toronto is actually the location of Montreal. (01:08:05)
Continuity mistake: When Nicholas Cage comes out of the church, you see his reflection in the car's rearview mirror. His injured eye is his (left in the mirror image) right eye. Later, he is shown with an injured left eye.
Audio problem: This scene is repeated multiple times in the movie: usually when the main character enters the "source code" the scene begins by panning over a small pond showing a Canada goose taking flight. However the sound editor makes the mistake of dubbing in a recording of a hen mallard duck.
Other mistake: Grand-Santa has made 70 missions, and Santa (Malcolm) has just completed his 70th mission, totaling 140 years. Yet Grand-Santa is only 136 years old.
Suggested correction: Grandsanta's portrait is shown in the halls of the North Pole with the dates 1902-1941 (with Malcom having done 71 missions from 1941). Therefore he did 39 missions. That makes for a total of 109 years, meaning he was 27 when he took over from his own father.
Other mistake: When Greg is looking at the video of Rowley sitting on the foil ball, he notices it has only 4 views on YouTube. However, if you look closely, it has 24,963 comments - impossible if it's only been viewed 4 times.
Suggested correction: YouTube is broken. This kind of thing actually does happen in real life quite frequently. In fact, a video I was just watching had that problem.
Continuity mistake: When Edward and Bella are in the taxi in Brazil, he has his wedding ring on. In the shot when he kisses Bella in the street, the ring is suddenly gone.
Continuity mistake: Mitch's hair changes frequently when he is talking to his dad about the wedding.
Factual error: Barbossa addresses one of his officers as "lieutenant-commander". This rank was not introduced into the Royal Navy until 1914.
Suggested correction: These movies aren't set in a specific time.
Credit for the following goes to another member here, Super Grover, who actually answered a question about the dates the films are set a while ago. These dates are estimates. The intro of 'PotC: The Curse of the Black Pearl' takes place mid-1720s (roughly 1725), when Will and Elizabeth are around 11/12 yrs old. Then eight years later the duo are about 19-20 yrs old during the main part of 'The Curse of the Black Pearl', then around a year later are set to marry in 'PotC: Dead Man's Chest' followed by the consecutive 'At World's End', which take place around 1733 / 1734. The next movies 'PotC: On Stranger Tides' and 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' (after the intro) take place in the 1750s. Again, credit to Super Grover.
They're set in the 1700's. In "On Stranger Tides", King George wants Jack to find the Fountain of Youth before King Ferdinand, who reigned from 1746 - 1759.
Continuity mistake: When John sees his photos on Sarah's website, the lower row of photos shows him throwing a football. However, when Sarah took those photos earlier, she only took out her camera AFTER he threw the football, while John was already talking to Sam.
Factual error: When the bus slams into Brian's car at the start, Brian's car doesn't move an inch. Given the speed and weight of the bus, Brian's car should have been shunted a good distance. (00:01:45)
Plot hole: In the last car-chasing scene, the timekeeper had switched his car to chase them, then how could Justin Timberlake get the timekeeper's salary (a day's time) from a car that the timekeeper picked up from the streets?
Suggested correction: I think it is the car of another time keeper. Hence, it may have a time transfer system.
