Continuity mistake: While Magnum is at the morgue he ends up being interviewed and filmed by Christine. There's a closeup of the TV set which is broadcasting Magnum's interview, then it cuts to a wide shot of the TV set as Higgins clicks the TV off in annoyance. The two TV sets in the closeup and wide shot are completely different.

Continuity mistake: When Magnum pushes the journalist's foot off the accelerator and steps on the brake, he's wearing white worn-out Converse sneakers with light purple socks and she's wearing tan stockings and pumps. Wen they walked up to the car, though, she was wearing open toed shoes with no stockings, and Magnum was wearing brown boat shoes earlier when he arrived at Mr. Dollinger's home. Revealing mistake: En route to the hut of the kahuna, TC is reading from a book. He reads "That is why curses or warning of death prayer" making exaggerated motions that undoubtedly establish that sentence being at the bottom of the page. Magnum then urges him to go on "That is why what?", and he resumes reading, but he's reading now (and again, makes very obvious he's reading and not just repeating from memory) from the opposite page. Continuity mistake: After the sugarcane fire fiasco, everyone is nervous. Magnum yells "Stop it!" to Higgins when he makes a bitter comeback to Rick. Kinda hilariously, Magnum yells that at a Higgins wearing a yellow-and-blue tie, but the Higgins that glances at him all sly is a red-and-blue-tied Higgins. (00:26:30)

Continuity mistake: After the unexpected death of the champion racer, the protagonists discuss in Rick's office. Higgins is wearing a blue blazer with the navy and beige tie he wore during the announcement and curse. Continuity mistake: When Christine Richards interviews TC and Magnum after the fire, the microphone she has in hand in the close-ups shows a gap in the series of "6" TV logos we see in the rest of the scene. It also shows the factory brand. (00:25:10)

Other mistake: When Magnum and TC get to Makua's house, there are several meters in the open between the shack and the sugarcane field. Makua the Kahuna makes it to the door surprising them, but after that, there's just no way two able-bodied guys wouldn't catch up on the short-legged chubby old man before he gets into the thick vegetation and thanks to the fire (none of it showing before) loses them. The scene would have been believable if the Kahuna delayed them in the shack through some trick, or the shack were in the middle of the cane field, but not with Magnum and TC bolting after him right away. Continuity mistake: In the scene inside the studio of a hypocondriac Rick, Magnum points out that the land is still undeveloped. In the following close-up, Rick casts a shadow on the couch he wasn't before. (00:26:45)
