Involvement - S5-E19
Revealing mistake: The former head nurse is supposed to be unconscious when she's picked up from the couch. Yet she puts her hand up on a shoulder when being carried out.
Revealing mistake: When Station 51 is dispatched to the bomb threat, just as they roll up on scene, in this specific POV the corner edges of the screen are blacked out due to the lens that was used, but when it cuts to other angles it's gone, then it reappears with that POV. We see it three times.
Revealing mistake: At the construction accident with the trapped man, when Engine 34 rolls up on scene we can see the red vinyl material adhered to the front of the engine, covering its real company number.
Revealing mistake: While 51's guys are on the roof of the construction accident, when Truck 8 rolls up on scene and then places its outriggers we can see the red vinyl material adhered to back of the engine, covering its real company number.
How Green Was My Thumb? - S3-E17
Revealing mistake: When Roy and Johnny are at the nurses' station with Dix, Roy decides to deliver the plant that was left for Mrs. Johnson so he and Johnny get into the elevator, and when Roy says, "Six," the floor indicator light on the control panel turns itself on before Johnny even presses the 6th floor button. That light would not turn on if someone up on the 6th floor pressed for the elevator.
Revealing mistake: When Engine 8 rolls up on scene at the warehouse fire, as it passes the camera in the overhead shot we can see the real company number 60 printed on the surface between the jumpseats.
The Wedsworth-Townsend Act - S1-E1
Revealing mistake: When Squad 10 is dispatched to "possible electrocution," just as the apparatus bay door opens and the squad rolls out, we can see a police officer holding back traffic for the filming of this shot.
Revealing mistake: When John is in the moving ambulance with the pregnant gunshot victim, Brackett asks him if he hears fetal heart tones, and when John removes the stethoscope from his ears he leans back and we can see out the window that the ambulance is quite stationery, despite the siren.
Revealing mistake: When Johnny, Marco, and Chet are all on top of Al, the big guy who has a chemically induced psychosis, while Roy injects Al with diazepam we can see the outline of the knee pad that Marco is wearing under his pants. As an aside it's funny to watch Chet's face hamming it up during this scene.
How Green Was My Thumb? - S3-E17
Revealing mistake: After Johnny jumps into the wine vat, when he and Roy pull the drowning man out of the vat we can see the rubber/latex suit the man is wearing under his clothes, when his shirt is lifted up.
Paper Work - S6-E11
Revealing mistake: After Roy and John meet the new supply nurse, when Squad 51 rolls back into the station the license plate number on the back of Engine 51 ends in 174, but the engine's plate number should read 999058. Engine 127's license plate number is 180174.
Family Ties - S6-E16
Revealing mistake: When the fire is started in the patient's room, which is caused by liquid shorting out the clock radio, at the end of the hallway we can see through the window's open shades and the view right outside the window is quite pretty, but in all of the exterior shots of Rampart there is no such view on any of its sides. It's a matte painting.
Welcome to Santa Rosa County - S6-E10
Revealing mistake: While in Santa Rosa County, after Roy and John rescue the two injured rock climbers, and also later after they rescue the burn victim from the lake, the Richards ambulance that transports the patients has license plate number "Z125631" which is pretty funny. That plate number should look familiar, as it's the same plate number on the ambulance in LA County, seen in many episodes such as "Rules of Order", "Unlikely Heirs", and "Not Available."
Revealing mistake: On the roof of the jail, Roy buckles his safety belt around his waist, with an extra belt for the prisoner hanging from it as well. When Roy removes the second belt from his own, we can see two carabiners that are now attached to his lifebelt, which go down into Roy's pants. Those carabiners are presumably attached to extra support under Roy's pants.
Revealing mistake: During the rescue of the two mountain climbers who are stuck on the side of a building, when Johnny and Roy are hanging from the lines which are attached to the lifebelts buckled around their waists, we can also see that attached to their lifebelts are carabiners, which are tucked inside their shirts. Those carabiners are presumably attached to extra support under their clothing. Johnny's is particularly visible, while Roy tries to cover his carabiners with his hand.
Revealing mistake: When Station 51 is dispatched to "plane that hit building," after they rescue the two aboard the plane, just before the explosion when the orange combustible drum is propelled into the air, we can see the stunt's projectile to get the drum airborne.
Revealing mistake: When Station 51 is dispatched to "accident with injuries," en route one of the camera angles is from the POV behind Roy and John, where the back of the squad is located. The problem is that there's bright sunlight on their backs as they’re driving, when it shouldn't be there. Artistic license is acceptable, but having so much sunlight where it should not be reveals that Squad 51 is not in its normal state.
Above and Beyond... Nearly - S5-E20
Revealing mistake: Dixie and Brackett rush onto the elevator with a crash cart to go up to the third floor, for a possible MI in the dental clinic. The camera's POV is from the elevator, and in one continuous shot, without cutting away, we see the ER hallway through the open doors, then the doors close and in a few moments the doors open on the third floor. Even though the set has changed a bit, we can tell it's still the ER hallway by things such as the same scuff marks on the floor, and we can also catch a glimpse of the paramedic status board on the wall, where the base station room is located.
Revealing mistake: At the end of the 'crashed plane in a tree' rescue, Tom falls upside down in front of Roy and John, who are standing on branches way high up in the tree. Then just as the scene ends and the screen fades out, we can still see Gary Crosby (Tom) having fun jumping hard up and down on that "tree branch" that he's now also standing on, and Randy Mantooth starts cracking up.
Revealing mistake: During Station 51's rescues on the foggy San Diego Freeway, when Chet is giving CPR to the little girl, it's just too obvious that he's not really giving CPR, unless her mouth is located on her cheek.
Answer: It is standard practice to wet down driveways so that they stand out in a long shot.
