Continuity mistake: When Osgood discovers Kate trussed up where the Zygons left her, when she pulls off the sheet covering her Kate's head is completely covered by a membrane-like mass. Moments later, after Osgood has begun working at Kate's hands to get her free, in the next shot with Kate's head in it her face is now uncovered. (00:46:15)

Continuity mistake: In the scene at the end in the Undergallery, when Ten walks up to the Gallifrey Falls painting, wondering what its actual title is, the door of his TARDIS, visible behind him, is open. In the next shot with the TARDISes visible, the door is shut. (01:10:55)
Chosen answer: 1) When Stephen Moffat took over he ignored a lot of what had been developed before (there is not in-universe answer). 2) It would have killed Rose, so the Doctor absorbed the energy. His body regenerated before the energy could do a significant amount of damage that would prevent regeneration.
