Batman Stands Pat (2) - S1-E14
Visible crew/equipment: Batman and Robin have been captured so they're led to Mad Hatter's hat factory. When Lisa arrives, a chalk mark can be seen where she stands, and a white tape mark on the floor for Mad Hatter. (00:19:30)
Batman Stands Pat (2) - S1-E14
Continuity mistake: At the end, as Bruce Wayne speaks to Magda, he's standing with his arms at his sides. When the shot cuts, his hands are suddenly clasped in front of him. (00:23:30)
Batman Stands Pat (2) - S1-E14
Other mistake: When Batman drop-kicks Mad Hatter into the vat of acid at the end of the fight, he does not have even one burn mark when he was pulled out.
Batman Stands Pat (2) - S1-E14
Revealing mistake: As Batman is about to use his batarang to Mad Hatter's hideout, right before getting caught by him and his henchmen towards the end of the episode, as he moves his cape back, the back part of his costume is open.
The Joker Goes to School (1) - S1-E15
Revealing mistake: Batman drives out of the batcave alone. The first bit of stock footage of the car leaving the cave does indeed show him alone in the batmobile. But the very next stock shot of the car speeding down the dirt road shows us Robin sitting in the passenger seat. (00:05:25)
The Joker Goes to School (1) - S1-E15
Continuity mistake: In the batcave, Batman's cape suffers a case of over-the-shoulder/off-the-shoulder blues, going from one to the other several times between takes. (00:19:10)
The Joker Goes to School (1) - S1-E15
Audio problem: As Susie deposits a dime in the coffee machine, the camera starts to pan down towards the opening where the cup will appear. You hear the cup then the quarters fall, but you can see the cup full of quarters is already in place before the sound is made.
The Joker Goes to School (1) - S1-E15
Continuity mistake: As Batman goes to cuff the Joker, the Joker holds up his right hand. In the close up, his left hand is raised.
He Meets His Match, the Grisly Ghoul (2) - S1-E16
Factual error: Dick Grayson's mini-camera, which is sitting on the bar, takes several shots of the villains from impossible angles several feet away from its location. And though he conspicuously places the camera in plain view, the crooks never notice it. (00:10:40)
He Meets His Match, the Grisly Ghoul (2) - S1-E16
Continuity mistake: In the bistro, Batman thwarts Joker's booby-trapped juke box by whipping out his bat shield. Afterward, he places the shield on the floor behind him. In the next shot, as he turns around, the shield has disappeared. He and Robin race off without retrieving it. (00:15:00)
He Meets His Match, the Grisly Ghoul (2) - S1-E16
Continuity mistake: When Batman surprises Joker and his henchmen in the gym, his shadow is on the wall behind them, his cape spread out and forming a menacing bat shape. But when the shot cuts to him and Robin, Batman's cape isn't spread. He's standing with his arms down. (00:20:40)
He Meets His Match, the Grisly Ghoul (2) - S1-E16
Other mistake: During the opening scene, right after Cesar Romero's guest star, Joker and Susie's faces freeze for a moment.
True or False-Face (1) - S1-E17
Visible crew/equipment: After Albert answers the Batphone it cuts to Bruce and Dick sitting at the table. We can see a chalk T-mark on the floor near Dick, and a white tape mark on the floor near Bruce. Then, when Harriet walks in another white tape mark becomes visible on the floor by her feet. (00:03:35)
True or False-Face (1) - S1-E17
Other mistake: When False Face lifts the wig off Blaze to reveal the crown that is on top of her head, you can see it is not there until the next shot of her.
Deliberate mistake: When Batman and Robin get free from the train tracks in the nick of time, the shot of the couple on the passing train is flipped; note things are backwards. (00:04:30)
Continuity mistake: When False Face escapes from the bank he has Blaze with him in the Town Panel truck, and she's handcuffed to the overhead pipe. Blaze is wearing a neutral color nail polish, but in the closeups of her cuffed hand her nail polish is salmon colored. (00:14:30)
Other mistake: While Batman and Robin are pursuing False Face, they stop the Batmobile beside a fence (across from "Bioscope"), and a sign that states "No Trespassing, Desilu Studios" (the show's studio location) is mounted on that fence. (00:15:00)
Visible crew/equipment: At the end Harriet surprises Bruce and Dick with a rehabilitated criminal, and when Blaze walks in we can see the shadow of the moving boom mic on the left side of the screen. (00:23:05)
The Purr-Fect Crime (1) - S1-E19
Visible crew/equipment: When Commissioner Gordon uses the Bat Phone and Alfred answers, it then cuts to Bruce and Dick playing crazy chess, and as the camera moves for its dolly shot, two of the crew's wood planks with marks become visible on the floor. (00:02:15)
The Purr-Fect Crime (1) - S1-E19
Continuity mistake: Catwoman dangles an unconscious Robin face-down on a tilting board over her tiger pit. He comes to, pulls his arms free and clutches the board's edges. In the next, closer shot, he's unconscious again, wakes up and repeats the grabbing-the-board motion. (00:07:30)
Answer: It's wasn't unusual for multiple actors to play one character on this show. The villains on the TV Batman were played by guest stars, not regular cast members. George Sanders, Otto Preminger, and Eli Wallach played the part at various times. They may simply have only wanted to play the part once or twice, or they were later tied up with other projects, making it necessary to cast someone else. Other characters, like Catwoman, were also played by more than one actress.
