The Simpsons

That '90s Show - S19-E11

Continuity mistake: This episode rewrites the entire backstory of Marge and Homer. For starters, Lisa and Bart were both not born yet, despite the fact that in the episode "Lisa's First Word," the '84 Summer Olympic games were being broadcast, and Bart and Lisa were both there. In this episode, Homer and Marge were just dating, but again in "Lisa's First Word," they were married and living in their Evergreen Terrace house. Additionally, Maggie was born in the episode "And Maggie Makes Three." Homer also lost all his hair in that episode, yet in this episode in the early 90's he still has a full head of hair.

Eeny Teeny Maya Moe - S20-E16

Continuity mistake: As Marge is feeding Maggie a grapefruit, Bart takes out his bongo drums and plays them. Watch as Bart plays - the shot zooms in from the back of Bart towards Maggie, and you can't see Marge in the scene sitting close to Maggie; the next shot shows her though.

Tree House of Horror V - S6-E6

Continuity mistake: At the end of 'The Shining, ' the family sits in the snow, Homer holding Willie's portable TV. Later, when they're frozen, Homer is holding nothing, although the TV's snow-topped antenna is still there. Additionally, Homer's left shoulder is missing. This is all due to the lack of correct colorization.

They Saved Lisa's Brain - S10-E22

Character mistake: The plural form of ignoramus is ignoramuses, not ignorami. The word "ignoramus," a Latin verb-form meaning "we do not know," has no Latin plural-noun form. Therefore, when used as an English noun it correctly pluralizes as "ignoramuses." Someone as smart as Lisa should know this.

Marge Gets a Job - S4-E7

Character mistake: Lisa states that Pierre and Marie Curie both died of radiation poisoning. This is incorrect, as only Marie died of radiation poisoning while her husband Pierre was killed by a horse and cart. (00:08:30)

This Little Wiggy - S9-E18

Continuity mistake: When the family are on the conveyer belt at the beginning the family are travelling along. In the next shot (the close up) they are travelling alot slower.

Homer's Enemy - S8-E23

Continuity mistake: Lenny says that Homer got his job by showing up when the nuclear plant was opened. In the episode "I Married Marge" (Season 4), the plant is already open when Homer interviews for a position, doesn't get it, then works at Gulp 'N' Blow.

The Cartridge Family - S9-E5

TV Announcer: The Continental Soccer Association is coming to Springfield. It's all here: fast kicking, low scoring. And ties? You bet.
Bart: Hey Dad, how come you've never taken us to see a soccer game?
Homer: I don't know.
TV Announcer: You'll see all your favorite soccer stars. Like Arriaga, Arriaga II, Barriaga, Aruglia, and Pizzozza.
Homer: Oh, I've never heard of those people.
TV Announcer: And they'll all be signing autographs.
Homer: Woohoo!
TV Announcer: This match will determine once and for all which nation is the greatest on Earth. Mexico or Portugal.

Tree House of Horror V - S6-E6

Question: Homer travels back in time and causes changes by what he does in the past, like stepping on a bug. I once saw a movie with the same basic plot: some people travel back in time and are told to be careful not to disturb anything, but when they return to their time everything has changed. In the end they discover it was because they stepped on a butterfly. Does anyone know the name of this movie?

Answer: I'm not sure if this is the one you're thinking of, but an episode of "Ray Bradbury Theatre," called "A Sound of Thunder," dealt with a similar matter: a group of hunters travel back in time to hunt dinosaurs, only to find things have changed when they get back because someone stepped on a butterfly.
