Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Show generally

Continuity mistake: Since Dax's spots were stencilled on individually every day, the shapes and patterns have a tendency to change slightly from scene to scene in any given episode.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Unless you can cite a specific instance where the change is obvious (taking stills and minutely comparing the patterns doesn't count), this is much too vague to count as a mistake.

Dramatis Personae - S1-E18

Continuity mistake: At the end of the episode, Odo has sent everyone affected by the telepathic matrix to a cargo bay. Sisko and O'Brien remove their com badges, throwing them aside before heading to the bay. After everyone is cured, Sisko straightens back up and, in the closeup, you can see that he has a badge on. In the next closeup, it's gone again.

Dramatis Personae - S1-E18

Continuity mistake: When Kira is explaining to Jadzia in Quark's that she wants to get rid of Sisko, she is wearing her Bajoran earring in her right ear. When she picks Quark up by his collar a couple of shots later, the earring is gone.

Meridian - S3-E8

Continuity mistake: When Jadzia tells Benjamin she is going to do helioscismic measurements of the sun, the camera shifts in mid-sentence. In the first shot she is rubbing her hands in front of her, in the second shot, her hands are clasped behind her back. (00:15:20)

Homefront (1) - S4-E11

Continuity mistake: It's surprising that Joseph Sisko is still alive at this point in the series. In previous episodes, Ben seemed to imply his father was deceased. In "Emissary" and "Paradise", he said his father WAS a gourmet chef (which is still his current occupation in this episode). And in a conversation with Odo in "The Alternate", Ben told him of how his father had a severe illness that made him very weak and he was unable to help him in the end.

The Sons of Mogh - S4-E15

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the episode when arriving at the station, Worf's brother has normal human bottom teeth. Later in the episode, he is wearing Klingon bottom teeth cosmetics.

Trials and Tribble-ations - S5-E6

Continuity mistake: On the old Enterprise bridge, Sisko is shown at a bridge station, and the person next to him, close to Dax's position, is wearing a gold shirt. When Kirk comes onto the bridge, the person next to Dax now has a red shirt, which was the original crewman's shirt in TOS.

Movie Nut

By Inferno's Light - S5-E15

Continuity mistake: When Bashir goes to let Garak out of the crawlspace, he pulls the prying tool from under the end of the bunk mattress closest to him. But in the scene before a Romulan prisoner had put it under the opposite end of the mattress.

Grumpy Scot

A Simple Investigation - S5-E17

Continuity mistake: When Arissa is first interviewed in Odo's office, she displays a 'data port' that is embedded below and behind her left ear in her upper neck. Her hair is styled to make it visible, and the port seems to be there for the entire scene, tho almost completely obscured at times. The second time she's in Odo's office, her hair style is the same, making it very obvious the port has now vanished, and it's gone the entire scene. For the third visit to Odo's office, the port appears and disappears at random. Apparently this scene was comprised of shots from the two separate shoots that made up the first two office scenes. Children of Time - S5-E22

Continuity mistake: The episode includes Odo as one of the people who is still alive after "200 years." However, in later seasons, it is revealed that Odo was infected with the morphogenetic virus by Section 31 quite a while ago. And given that in those later seasons, he is deteriorating and dying, there is no possible way that the "Future Odo" from this episode could've survived 200 years since he likely wouldn't have survived more than a decade since this episode if they became trapped back in time.

Valiant - S6-E22

Continuity mistake: When the runabout is shot by the Dominion ship, Jake is sitting in the left seat, but when he is thrown off his chair by an explosion, he is on the right seat. (00:09:10)

Apollo

Valiant - S6-E22

Continuity mistake: In sickbay, when Nog walks over to Collins, he takes her hand and returns his gold Red Squad pin. In the closeup, Collins has a long, manicured thumbnail, but in the next shots facing Nog, Collins has short fingernails. (00:43:15)

Super Grover

Image in the Sand - S7-E1

Continuity mistake: Just before Ezri's first appearance (at Sisko's on Earth), notice the strap for the bag slung across Benjamin's father's shoulder. First it is twisted on his shoulder, then flat, then twisted, then flat again.

It's Only a Paper Moon - S7-E10

Continuity mistake: When every senior staff officer is in the conference room, watch Dax's rank pips. They change places from a shot to another, going (mentioning from left to right on her collar) from black-gold to gold-black and coming back to black-gold. (00:16:25)

Field of Fire - S7-E13

Continuity mistake: As the episode begins, Ilario was referred to as an Ensign by Bashir and Dax. When he was found murdered the next morning, Odo referred to him as Lieutenant Ilario.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Bashir refers to him as Lieutenant Junior Grade while making his toast. Ilario's rank insignia are that of a Lt (JG).

When Dax and Kira talk about getting him back to his quarters, Dax says it's not the fist time she's escorted a drunk Ensign home.

Penumbra (1) - S7-E17

Continuity mistake: Throughout this episode you will notice that Ezri Dax's pips change. One moment she has two full pips on her collar and at other times, only one is filled in while the other remains black.

Defiant

'Til Death Do Us Part (2) - S7-E18

Continuity mistake: When the Breen fling Dax into the cell after interrogating her, she (the stunt woman) lands front-down, facing her left side, with her left knee raised. (To clarify her body position, if she were vertical, it would appear her left foot was resting on the seat of a chair) The camera angle changes instantly so that we see Worf rush to her side as he kneels on one knee. But that knee is on the ground exactly where Dax's knee should still be. But it isn't, because both her legs are suddenly straight. (00:32:40)

Body Parts - S4-E25

Visible crew/equipment: During a pan-across of Quark's bar after it has been emptied out, the shadow of the camera is visible for a moment in the bottom right corner of the screen. (00:40:35)

Sisko: I'm not Picard.
Q: Indeed not. You're much easier to provoke.

Show generally

Question: I've noticed in some episodes the person playing Dr. Bashir is credited as Siddig El Fadil and in others he's Alexander Siddig. At what point in the series did he have the name change?

Answer: He changed his name after the third season because people were having difficulty pronouncing his last name."Alexander Siddig" is the name he typically goes by as his full birth name, "Siddig El Tahir El Fadil El Siddig Abderahman Mohammed Ahmed Abdel Karim El Mahdi", is far too verbose and complex for screen credits.
