Red Dwarf

Nanarchy - S7-E8

Revealing mistake: After the conversation the crew have about famous people with one arm, Lister gets up and his real arm is visible under his clothes behind his back. (00:04:40)

Emohawk - Polymorph II - S6-E4

Revealing mistake: When the Gelfs release the Emohawk, it is thrown into the air and it flies away. However, if you look at the third Gelf you can see the shadow of the Emohawk puppet as it falls to the floor. (00:17:30)

Dwarf

Legion - S6-E2

Revealing mistake: During the scene in the space station's dining room, when Craig Charles is making a speech explaining that they should escape, he stands up and pours himself a glass of Bucks Fizz. Craig fills the glass too soon (half way through the speach) and must realise, as he pours the drink back into the pitcher, and then begins filling his glass again. (00:20:20)

The Last Day - S3-E6

Revealing mistake: You can tell Robert Llewellyn is reading his lines when Kryten receives the computer chip. He is looking much lower than the chip in his hand and it was obviously quite a complicated piece of dialogue to remember. (00:12:35)

Quarantine - S5-E4

Revealing mistake: As pointed out by Danny John Jules on the DVD Commentary, during the 'Feckles, Heckles, Hackles, Schmeckles' argument, Cat pushes his face right against Kryten's, leaving a brown makeup smear on Kryten's forehead. The mark is gone in the next shot. (00:19:45)

Future Echoes - S1-E2

Revealing mistake: In the drive room when Lister kicks the vending machine after he finds out he's going to die, you can see the shadow of the machine wobbling as if it were lightweight. (00:20:20)

Backwards - S3-E1

Revealing mistake: At The End of the episode, the shot with the taxi has been reversed to show the number plate backwards. It has also changed everything else in the shot, most notably, the cat's outfit. In the next scene they have been flipped back to normal. (00:25:35)

Dwarf

Meltdown - S4-E6

Revealing mistake: In the chimney, the light appears when Lister lights his cigarette lighter. He turns the lighter off a moment later but the light is still there. (00:07:35)

Dwarf

Backwards - S3-E1

Revealing mistake: Near The End of the episode, Kryten and his employer are seen arguing in supposedly backwards English. However, when you watch the episode how the people of earth would see it on the second DVD, Kryten and his employer aren't speaking English, they are just speaking plain gobbeldy-gook, even although when you see the people of Earth talking on the DVD they speak correctly. Suggested correction: Ace is a hologram. Even though he is hard light, he cannot be harmed. Which is why he was able to jump on the grenade and not be harmed. So the gas spray wouldn't have harmed him either.

M-Corp - S12-E5

Plot hole: Cat wasn't manufactured by the Jupiter Mining Corporation and had no connection with them, being born three million years or so after they lost control of Red Dwarf. The takeover by M-Corp would mean nothing to him. Why, then, does he become invisible to Lister?

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Lister can only see M-Corp products and M-Corp employees. Cat is not an employee of JMC or M-Corp, so he disappears. Lister is the only member of the crew who is employed by M-Corp at this point.

Suggested correction: Cat was a descendant of the cat Lister brought aboard Red Dwarf. Would it be possible that the new owners might have stricter security controls, and Lister was sent to Stasis for a different reason?

Inventing Deux ex machina explanations for a plot hole doesn't make it any less of a plot hole. M-Corp erases all of the Jupiter Mining Corporation's equipment, personnel and infrastructure from Lister's life. In no way is Cat a part of that. He has no connection at all to the Jupiter Mining Corporation, and until he meets him in Episode 1 no connection to Lister, either.

If M-Corp only erased JMC equipment from Lister's life, then Kryten, who belongs to DivaDroid and not the JMC, wouldn't have disappeared either. He disappears as he doesn't belong to M-Corp, not because he belongs to the JMC. Cat has no connection to M-Corp, as he wasn't a part of the JMC (as you pointed out), and is therefore erased for Lister.

Nanarchy - S7-E8

Lister: What, they fixed your core program and then decided they'd be better off without you?
Holly: Yeah, it was shortly after they met me.

Trivia: The actor who plays the original Kryten, in 'Kryten', also turns up later as the voice of Talkie Toaster.

More trivia for Red Dwarf

Answer: Presumably he does, but it's never been used in any material related to the show. He is the only Cat left (as shown in Series 1), so even if he had once had a name, nobody would know it.

Moose

Answer: In the book, the Cat finds the concept of a name confusing, as he's convinced he's the center of the universe and the idea that someone wouldn't know who he was is baffling.
