Continuity mistake: When Rockford goes to see his friend the preacher to ask about a new fence in town, the wood box that the preacher opens has the word "donation" on it, with the bottom of the letters facing the hinged side of the box. In the box's closeup some changes include: the wood top is now different and the word "donation" faces the opposite way, with the top of the letters facing the hinged side. (00:38:40)

Visible crew/equipment: When Rockford and Karen drive up to the house where Lederer has been hiding, Rockford stops the car and explains that he doesn't want to spook him. During this brief stop, note there is something at the roof of Rockford's car along with the reflection of equipment, and in the two shots of Frick and Frack's car a crew member's reflection (looks like their hand) is visible on the window's chrome trim, on the right side of the screen. Continuity mistake: When Rockford and "Angelo" are at La Rue for lunch Angel is wearing a ring on his right pinky, but in the closeup of Angel mishandling the escargot tongs, the pinky ring vanishes and then it reappears. (00:07:50)
Revealing mistake: When Willie catches Rockford and Rocky trespassing on the posted land, as Willie says, "No season on varmints," this closeup and the following closeup are flipped shots, note his shirt buttons. (00:14:10)
Visible crew/equipment: After Rockford is released the first time, he's determined to find out why his name is in Sorvino's phone book. When he and Rocky stop at the phone booth, the reflection of the boom operator holding the boom pole (low to the ground) can be seen on the glass. (00:17:20)

Continuity mistake: While Rockford is at the Paddock Club restaurant with Al and Marcy, there's a filled salad plate and a place setting on the table in front of Rockford, but everything disappears in two different shots facing only Al and Marcy. Continuity mistake: While Rockford is staking out Stabila's house, in a closeup he jots down Nejman's license plate number, then Rockford places his notebook aside. In this closeup note the Chevrolet Impala emblem at the steering wheel center (looks like the 1968 Impala version), though Rockford drives a 1976 Pontiac Firebird Esprit with a different steering wheel.
