Continuity mistake: When Kirk and Spock successfully activate a subsonic transmitter, it cuts to a closeup of a spade's metal blade breaking the soil ground, but in the next wide shot Sulu and DeSalle are using two spades made entirely of wood. (00:44:45)

Continuity mistake: Kirk and the others are beamed down to the planet, and when the Enterprise crew are led into Mudd's throne room by two Alice androids (the Alice series are 500 identical androids) they are wearing the usual metallic, backless, kitten heel slip-ons, but in the next shot android Alice at the left is now wearing altogether different shoes - cream color with ankle-straps. Continuity mistake: While Flavius guides Kirk, Spock, and McCoy to the city to find Merik, the foursome stop behind a group of trees. In the first wide shot, as Flavius explains they'll wait until dark, there are no red marks on the tree trunks, but in their closeups there are a few red marks (presumably from squibs), before the gunfire has even occurred. At the start of the second wide shot the tree trunks are still void of those marks, and when the police shoot at them that's when the red marks appear. (00:15:15)

Continuity mistake: While Kirk, Spock, and McCoy attempt to escape, Merik contacts Enterprise with the stolen communicator and the Proconsul stabs him, then when Merik tosses the communicator it lands in front of Kirk's feet in a closeup. The problem is that in the closeup Kirk is wearing his black uniform pants, but during this scene Kirk is wearing the light colored slave pants. Also interesting to note, when the sword landed on the floor in front of Spock's feet, the Vulcan is wearing black lace-up flat footwear instead of his black uniform boots. (00:46:35)

Continuity mistake: When Scotty, Kirk, and the others follow Spock's signal to the chamber with the Controller, they encounter Kara and she activates their pain bands. Spock's body has a pain band around his waist as the other men drop to the ground, but after McCoy tells Kirk, "Spock, no pain," the pain band is missing from Spock's body, then in the next shot it reappears when he goes after Kara's bracelet. Continuity mistake: When Kirk and his landing party beam down to the planet there are six shots of Morg, who have their right arms covered in fur in all those flipped shots, but when Morg attack the landing party it's their left arms covered in fur. Presumably, the first six shots were flipped for direction continuity. (00:13:15)

Continuity mistake: During the scene with the ore freighter, there are four closeups of Spock while he's bent over the scope at his station, and in the background behind Spock we can see Kirk and others on the bridge are gone. It also occurs in the earlier scene during the encounter with the two starships. (00:24:00)

Continuity mistake: When Kirk and Mara are in the transporter room for intraship beaming, Kirk is wearing his usual Starfleet boots with heels, but while Kirk and Kang are fighting Kirk is wearing flat bottom boots. (00:43:25)

Continuity mistake: When Kirk and McCoy join Spock and Galloway on Exeter's bridge, McCoy kneels down and uses his med tricorder with its strap crossed over his shoulder, but in McCoy's closeup the strap is gone, then next shot the strap is once again over McCoy's shoulder. (00:04:25)

Continuity mistake: After Kirk orders Uhura to reestablish contact with Aurelan's transmitter, when Uhura replies that they do not acknowledge her contact signal, Uhura's communications earpiece is not in her ear, but in the next shot it's suddenly back in her ear. (00:06:10)

Continuity mistake: When Kirk informs Galileo that all systems are clear for takeoff, in the shot from inside the shuttlebay as Galileo turns to launch, the shuttlecraft Columbus is also in the hangar deck, but when Galileo exits Enterprise the Columbus is gone in the exterior shot. (00:01:45)

Continuity mistake: When McCoy places the old tricycle down on the ground, the handlebars are facing the right with its wheels facing the left. When McCoy is attacked by the diseased Only, Kirk and Spock subdue him, and as he lies on the ground the tricycle flips over between shots, so the handlebars suddenly end up facing the left. Continuity mistake: When Kirk confronts Spock in his quarters, Kirk asks if it's something only his planet can do for him, then Kirk uses his left hand to grab hold of Spock's arm as he drops the stylus, but in the closeup it's Kirk's right hand holding Spock's arm up, and that stylus is also back in Spock's raised hand. Continuity mistake: When McCoy escorts Spock to the shuttlecraft hangar McCoy is wearing his short-sleeved medical tunic, but when Spock suggests that the doctor could wish him luck, in the next closeup McCoy is wearing his long-sleeved uniform. (00:29:40)

Continuity mistake: When Kirk, Uhura, and Chekov enter the transporter room Kirk is wearing his usual boots with heels, but while they're on Triskelion during some scenes Kirk's boots change to boots with flat rubber soles.

Continuity mistake: During the final match, while Kirk fights the lone Andorian thrall two things to notice. Kirk's collar of obedience opens up and drops between the two opponents, then when Kirk lifts and flips the Andorian thrall the back of Kirk's black pants are split open in the wide shot. Both the collar and pants are intact in following shots. (00:45:25)

Continuity mistake: After Maab gives Eleen back her life and forfeits his own life, when Keel throws the kleegat and hits Kras he drops the phaser in the closeup, but in the next long shot the phaser is back up in the Klingon's (stuntman) right hand. (00:45:50)

Continuity mistake: When Kirk's arrow hits Kras it protrudes from his leg, but in the next wideshot as Kras screams and stumbles the arrow is quite gone from his leg, but three shots later the arrow is back in his leg while he tries to pull it out. (00:43:40)

Continuity mistake: When Spock shows the others the machine which must be put "in the proximity of the Companion", in the closeup Spock's left arm is up on the machine and we see the chair opposite Spock is empty. However, in the next shot Spock's right arm is up by the machine and Kirk is sitting in that chair. (00:22:10)

Continuity mistake: When Kirk exits the turbolift he sits in the captain's chair, and Yeoman Smith stands behind him with barely any space between them, but in the shot facing the main viewscreen Smith is gone, and in the next shot she reappears right behind Kirk again. Smith continues to disappear and reappear in following shots. (00:04:00)
