The Simpsons (1989)

Pygmoelian - S11-E16

Corrected entry: When Homer puts the family through an early morning fire drill and rushes them out to the car and drives away they are all in their respective sleeping clothes. However, when they pull up at the Duff Festival they are in their regular clothes, and knowing Homer he wouldn't think far enough ahead to bring a change of clothes for everyone.

Tobin OReilly

Correction: There is nothing to say Homer didn't put clothes in the car. He planned to make the trip to Duff day as quickly as possible. Homer even planned ahead to take the door latches off to ensure no one would escape, meaning this was no spur of the moment decision. There was also enough time between the time they left and arrived at Duff day to have put some clothes on in between.

Correction: Homer only references where the car was parked when the ambulance tried to park. As you mention, Homer goes through the pit stop and he would obviously need to park somewhere before returning to the stands. The hiking is irrelevant as he somehow got his car to the track and into the pitstop during the race.

Correction: What exactly is the mistake here? We are not shown what Lisa did or didn't notice when she was in Skinner's office and I cannot see what mistake there would be in either respect.

Correction: The authorities mention they had been tracking the paintings for quite some time. Being the location of the paintings had been hidden even from those who stole it (Grandpa Simpson & Mr Burns had to get the keys to find it), the authorities would have likely tracked them until they did recover the paintings. If the pair had been tipped off they likely would have not tried to recover the paintings and the authorities might never find them.

Correction: We don't know whether the plan was restarted or not. There was enough time in between the two episodes for the union to have taken the issue up with Mr Burns and demanded it back. Much like when the union went on strike to keep the dental plan and eventually won.

Correction: These people can sometimes sleep through anything. When Bart's elephant stormed off in the middle of the night they didn't notice the elephant or Bart were missing until the morning.

Correction: We don't know what happened after the initial part of the journey. As we see when they get out they are also dressed in normal clothes meaning we don't know whether the handles were put back on, whether Homer fixed the doors etc.

Lisa the Iconoclast - S7-E16

Corrected entry: Lisa says that Jebediah Springfield is indeed Han Sprungfeld because there's no record of Jebediah Springfield before 1795. Yet in "Whacking Day", Bart mentions that there is a historical record of Jebediah Springfield serving in the Battle of Ticonderoga in 1777.

Correction: Thats essentially the point. Much of Jebediah's records at times seems to be generally more made up than fact, as evidenced in the film at the start of the show in which he managed to tame a wild buffalo with his bare hands! Yet concedes it was already tamed he merely shot it. While Bart's history book might claim to say he served in the Battle of Ticonderoga, Lisa's books and the statement she found in his fife contradicts that point. In her book it claimed that in 1780 he fought George Washington. After this he wrote his confession on the piece of the painting of Washington he ripped off and stole. Then he hid the confession in his fife. Essentially the statement found from the George Washington painting told the real truth and his silver tongue backed up the statement.

The Simpsons (1989)

Correction: As pointed out in the episode, the sequence was only filmed to keep the secret of who was the shooter from being leaked by the staff of the show. As pointed out, the DNA evidence in the episode would have to be ignored which proves the creators were never concerned about continuity as the sequence would have been unusable. In addition as pointed out on the site, deleted scenes or alternate sequences cannot be considered mistakes to the final cut.

Show generally

Corrected entry: Marge's real hair color changes throughout the show. There are some episodes that show her hair is naturally blue, such as ones with flashbacks that show her as a child or younger teen with blue hair. Other episodes indicate that her hair is really brown, but she dyes it.

Correction: Obviously a character in a tv show can change their hair whenever they feel like it. While an example of what you are talking about would be easier to comment on, I can only recall Marge changing her hair colour once and that was on purpose.

Correction: Burns is more weak when it comes to strength, i.e. lifting or moving items even ones that are particularly light. Something like walking and dancing is not as much of a problem. He also has danced before. In the episode "Hunka Hunka Burns in Love" he managed to dance (with some assistance from an oxygen tank in his jacket pocket).

HOMR - S12-E9

Corrected entry: In this episode Dr. Hibbert says the crayon was never spotted because he always covered it with his thumb, but in episode 4-18, "So It's Come to This: A Simpson's Clip Show", when Homer is in the hospital, his head X-ray is placed up on the light box on the wall, and is visible with nothing blocking it, so the crayon should have been spotted then.

Correction: The joke in the scene is that there really is no way to explain why or how he would miss a large crayon in Homer's brain after all these years, numerous injuries and many x-rays. Even if he should have seen it, its a character mistake. As you pointed out there was no way he should have missed it but either he really did miss it everytime or is lying to cover up his mistake.

Black Widower - S3-E21

Corrected entry: When Selma is in the bath with a cigarette, she sinks under the water dragging the cigarette with her. However, if you look and listen very closely, the sound of the cigarette being extinguished happens very slightly before it actually makes contact with the water.

Correction: In the shot as she is just about to go under the water, you can see the cigarette start to glow a bit redder. This would mean Selma is inhaling as she is going under the water. As she would be inhaling, a small area below the lit area would start to get hotter and so would make sense that the sound of it being extinguished just a split second before the lit area goes under the water.

Correction: Looking at the shot inside the church there is nothing to indicate that this is the local church that most the townspeople go to. Everything about the church is different from the local church including the walls (which are blue not purple) and the glass paned windows. Being also there is no familiar faces in the church its more likely that this is a different church.

Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment - S2-E13

Corrected entry: When Homer is browsing the channels he says "seen it" to all of them. One of them is a non-violent Itchy & Scratchy episode as seen in "Itchy & Scratchy & Marge" (we don't see it but we can hear it). One says "Lemonade", and then Itchy (I think) instantly says "Please". But when you see the episode in "Itchy & Scratchy & Marge" there is a short break between their sayings. This was done on purpose to reduce time.

OL1V3R666

Correction: Like any television show, its prone to small edits by the network showing it to save time. Also since we don't see enough (or hear enough) of it we don't know they were showing the entire cartoon. It may have been a quick clip of the show like they do for news clips or tv ads.

Correction: Thats not a mistake, its just an example of how poorly run the mayor's office is. It could also be that the mayor's decision wouldn't go down well with the townspeople (as evidenced with the Simpsons). Keeping it secret until the law was passed would make it harder to have reversed.
