The Office (2005)

The Alliance - S1-E4

Corrected entry: After Roy catches Jim and Pam too close for his comfort, Jim reveals The Alliance joke. Then we see Dwight with the interview cam, while he has blonde hair. He had his normal hair just after the incident. There would be no reason for him to think that he needs to dye his hair at that point, since he had found out that Jim was messing with him.

Knever

Correction: Dwight had already applied the peroxide. It took time to bleach out.

Correction: After Jim explains himself, Dwight still gets his hair dyed, meaning he still believed that Jim was genuine with him.

Correction: These two are unrelated to each other. Marshall just mis-sends the text.

Pokemon (1998)

Correction: Poison type is effective against Grass type.

Right Place Right Time - S4-E22

Corrected entry: When the first error in Barney's list is discovered, they come to the conclusion that he's only slept with 198 women, so Marshall's previous figure of a 1.195913451538% success rate is slightly off. Marshall says that Barney's "only half a percent less gross than we thought." But using 198 girls in Marshall's equation results in a success rate of 1.18990461538%, which is nowhere near a difference of 0.5%.

Knever

Correction: 1.1959% minus half a percent is 1.1899%, ie. fitting exactly with what Marshall says. Subtracting 0.5 wouldn't be half a percent, as 0.5 is a large proportion of 1.1959 (42%, in fact).

Pokemon (1998)

Pokemon, I Choose You! - S1-E1

Corrected entry: Misty manages to pull Ash and Pikachu out of the water with a fishing rod. I know there's some suspension of belief required, but that's just a little too unbelievable. She's never known to be particularly strong, so pulling out something weighing roughly 120% of her own body weight so easily, causing them to literally fly through the air, is just crazy.

Knever

Correction: It's a visual gag in an action/comedy children's cartoon. It's no more a mistake than is the old bug-eyes gag in the classic Tex Avery cartoons.

Hocus Pocus (1993)

Corrected entry: When the witches are about to suck the life force from the girl at the beginning, you can see strands of energy moving towards the witches before they actually start inhaling.

Knever

Correction: They're not really breathing it in, in the literal sense, they're just absorbing her life energy into their own. It can be done just by thinking about it really hard, as was the case noted here. But the act of drawing breath helps them to focus their thoughts more effectively, speeding the process up considerably.

Community (2009)

Season 1 generally

Corrected entry: It doesn't make any sense that the Dean would simply replace Chang with an actual Spanish teacher. It's ridiculous to assume that they would have learned what they should have with a fake teacher, even if he was convincing. What really should have happened was what happened at the end of Season 3, where their credit was annulled and they'd have to retake the course.

Knever

Correction: This is not a plot hole. The dean hired a new Spanish teacher to assess if the class has sufficient knowledge to pass, hence the test they take. The only reason they really passed is because it is implied Pierce seduced her. Any school would at least attempt to get the students through the year without failing their language, or it would look even worse on the school.

Wanted (2008)

Corrected entry: Just after Wesley's first training with the Butcher, he's in the healing room. His left hand had been punctured by the knife, so it makes absolutely zero sense that his hand is not submerged along with the rest of his body.

Knever

Correction: The liquid in the healing room is not explained, nor does it need to be. As a result, the audience doesn't know what properties are involved with healing in the healing room. It's possible that just breathing vapors, or osmosis through skin while in the room can have a healing effect.

The Wonder Years (1988)

Birthday Boy - S2-E13

Corrected entry: We are shown a flashback to Kevin and Paul as toddlers. Paul is shown wearing glasses, but at that age, there is no possible way to tell if a toddler has eye problems, since eyes are still developing at that age. The only definitive eye problem that could be diagnosed is complete blindness, which Paul obviously is not. It could be argued that they only did that to differentiate Paul from Kevin, but that could easily have been accomplished in other ways, like simply having Kevin in his parent's lap and Paul in his parent's lap. Putting glasses on a baby relies on way too much suspension of belief.

Knever

Correction: This just isn't true - children even as young as under a year old wear glasses. Doctors dilate the pupils and analyze the light reflection to figure the prescription.

Corrected entry: When the DeLorean suddenly appeared in 1885, the Indians have absolutely no reaction at all. There is no possible way that they wouldn't have been the least bit spooked or confused, and we should have seen some semblance of this in their actions, but they just keep charging on like nothing happened. It'd be like a an alien spaceship appearing out of nowhere in Times Square and people not even batting an eyelash.

Knever

Correction: Even putting aside that not reacting the way you expect is not a mistake, they were more focused on being chased by the cavalry, and they may well have assumed the Delorean was another "white man" invention like the locomotive.

Would it not be a bit mysterious if the Americans had invented the car but still ride horses?

The Indians did not know that it was a car or what its purpose was. All they saw was a strange device obviously invented by the "white man."

Corrected entry: Just before the kid leaves and is robbed at his house, he shuts his book and gets into his shoes. He just slides into his shoes in a "cool" way, but it's not really possible the way he does it. It was done by having him take the shoes off and then reversing the shot.

Knever

Correction: How exactly is that impossible? I've done it before. It all depends on how broken in the shoes are. Given how poor he and his mother are, it seems likely he's had them for quite a while.

LorgSkyegon

Correction: He appears in color in the "real world" too, even though he's the product of a black and white film. Also, the characters in silent films can hear each other so we, being in the film's world at the time, can hear his scream.

Lost (2004)

Show generally

Corrected entry: The numbers that appear everywhere in the show actually originated on a completely different TV show. Veronica Mars. A show about a teenage detective juggling school, boyfriends, and her father's investigation practice, where she helps out. In one of the episodes, Veronica takes a fortune cookie's fortune and puts it against her vanity mirror with the numbers showing - 4 8 15 16 23 42.

Knever

Correction: Both shows premiered in 2004. Lost used the numbers on the very first episode. "Donut Run", while the episode of Veronica Mars with the fortune cookie and the numbers premiered on January 25, 2006. The numbers were added as a nod to Lost, which was Veronica Mars' Wednesday competition.

Smart Guy (1997)

A Little Knowledge - S1-E6

Corrected entry: Yvette mentions that she got a job at a restaurant gutting chickens. She also mentions that she's getting $100 a week. If she were to work 40 hours a week, that would make her pay $2.50 an hour, which is so far below minimum wage it's unbelievable.

Knever

Correction: You're assuming she's working 40 hours a week. She may not be. She could be only working part time, and at 20 hours a week, that would be $5.15 an hour, or what the minimum wage was in Washington DC at that time. Also, some service industries, such as restaurants, were not required to pay minimum wage to employees with reasonable expectation of earning tips. In 2013, a server at a restaurant in the USA, who may receive tips, can earn as little as $2.13 an hour, as long as tips bring the wage up to or above $7.25 an hour. If a person makes more than $30 a month in tips, these minimum wages can apply. This is federal law, states can set their own rates.

rswarrior

Corrected entry: Hagrid says, when Harry's broom is acting strangely during the Quidditch match, that it's "powerful Dark Magic," and that a student couldn't do something like that. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Hermione uses a simple Confundus hex on Cormic McLaggen, which has a similar, albeit not as great, effect. Point is, while it may have been Dark Magic, it is still possible to do with hexes and jinxes.

Knever

Correction: The Confundus hex is being used on McLaggen, not the broomstick. Hagrid is pointing out that "powerful dark magic" is need to alter a broomstick to the extent it was in that Quidditch match. Broomsticks have powerful countercurses and counterhexes, whereas wizards have to perform the curse or imbue their clothing to have specific hexes or curses repelled, as displayed in HBP by the Weasleys' Shield clothing line.

Dumb and Dumber (1994)

Corrected entry: The goons' plan to infiltrate Harry and Lloyd in the van doesn't make sense. When Mental learns that the duo thinks that he's the Gas Man, he comes to the conclusion that they have been followed (by Harry and Lloyd) "for weeks." But then, he decides to confront them face-to-face, which makes no sense but to move the story along.

Knever

Correction: Mental theorized that "they must have been following us for weeks" but couldn't be sure. He decides to confront them face-to-face to see if they do recognize him. As the story plays out, Mental learns that not only do they not know who he is, but they don't even know the purpose of the briefcase. Hence the scene at the restaurant.

XIII

The Staircase Implementation - S3-E22

Corrected entry: When Sheldon tells Leonard about the time travel clause, he states "in precisely five seconds." Anybody who knows anything about time travel know that you need a definitive point in time, so without having that exact date and time written down somewhere, there's no way a future version of them could arrive at that unspecified time. Sheldon's too anal to ignore something like that.

Knever

Correction: The precise time would be slightly before the signing of the Roommate Agreement, which is about to happen, so it's a markable point in their histories/future histories.

Captain Defenestrator

Corrected entry: When Hagrid takes Harry to the Leaky Cauldron, he is met by Professor Quirell, who shakes his hand. This should not be possible, obviously, because of the damaging effect Harry's skin has on Voldemort, who is possessing Quirell at this point in time.

Knever

Correction: The book says Voldemort enters Quirell's head after the failed attempt to steal the stone from gringots. This part is before the failed attempt.

Little Minnesota - S4-E11

Corrected entry: There are two problems with the scene in which Heather enters the store with the briefcase. One is debatable, but one is not. All stores, for safety reasons (most notably, if a fire were to break out) should have doors that open outwards, away from the store. It's a law in most areas of the US. The other thing is that Ted says, "That's a "push," not a "pull."" That means that she attempted to pull it, but if it were a "push" door, there would be no handle to pull, meaning there is nothing there for anyone to pull on.

Knever

Correction: No they are both debatable. There is nothing wrong with having handles on both sides of the door. No mistake here. As for the 'safety' concern. You said 'most areas' of the USA have this rule. Can you tell me that every store in NYC abides by this rule? I would imagine there would be a lot of stores that don't, this store for example. No mistake here.

Sex Drive (2008)

Corrected entry: When Lance is having fun with the gas station girl, her boyfriend shows up and chases him outside. After running over him with his truck, when he asks Lance, among other things, "She touch your butt hole? his lips don't move. (00:46:15)

Knever

Correction: That line is only in the unrated version of the movie which has a disclaimer at the beginning that it is a "for fans only" version. Some of the dialogue is dubbed over or cut in where it doesn't actually belong.
