I am trying to remember the name of this film I saw years ago, but the title escapes me. I remember something takes over the minds of the students of a high school, one of the scenes i remember is that there is a certain powder that is deadly to the creatures so some friends in a circle snort the powder to prove they aren't one, but one female deceives them by having the skin of their nose close up and block their nostril. Plus I remember a janitor in this film who uses the lyrics "hey, teacher leave those kids alone" just before he saves them. Any ideas anyone? It's driving me insane.

District 9 (2009)
Question: Something I couldn't figure out. The black fluid (in the glass cylinder) made Wikus start turning into an alien. If the aliens were mainly interested in going back to their planet, why had they been developing a substance that could turn humans into aliens? How would this help them go home?

Ghostbusters (1984)
Question: When Venkman is on the phone with Egon, he says that he shot Dana/Zuul up with 300 cc of Thorazine. Since Thorazine is a powerful anti-psychotic drug, it's unlikely that Dana had some in her medicine cabinet. If she didn't already have some on hand, then where did Venkman get it? He said that he has a PhD in psychology, so is he able to prescribe medications for anyone?
Answer: They're all three doctors in that field, so it's not unlikely at all that they could acquire the medication. The question then becomes: why did he have it on him at the time?
Indeed, it's hilarious when you ask yourself that question, and the movie does not have any of the characters question that! Which would have been comedy gold. As the original poster said though; Venkman has a PhD in Psychology, so he can't prescribe the drug, and the other 2 are physicists, so no, I wouldn't say they are doctors in the field?
A Psychologist could have studied medicine. If you have a medical licence you can prescribe medicine to a patient. This doesn't automatically make a Venkman a psychiatrist, but he is more likely more trained in the actual clinical practise. Doesn't make it less unethical though and if anyone finds out he would have his license revoked immediately.

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)
Question: Being a huge fan of the Back to the Future movies, there has been something in this movie I've always wondered about. In this Austin Powers movie, Frau says that Scott is a test tube baby. However, The Spy Who Shagged Me reveals otherwise, and that Scott isn't a test tube baby. Can we assume that in the first movie, Frau knows that Scott isn't a test tube baby, and that she is lying so that Dr. Evil can continue the timeline unchanged? Or was Scott actually a test tube baby in the first movie, and in the second movie the timeline is changed so that he isn't a test tube baby? Hope I worded this right.
Answer: Frau was lying. Of course she would know that Scott wasn't a test tube baby: she carried him to term and delivered him! She kept this from Dr. Evil because she knew he would have no recollection of fathering Scott since he hadn't done it yet. That's a lot of pressure to put on a guy.

The Langoliers (1995)
Question: Is there a reason why when they're in the past they can't catch up with the present, but when they land a little into the future, the present can catch up with them? Are they not moving along on their own timeline? And if not, why are they not left in that moment and stand there to see the present come and go without taking them?
Answer: Think of time as a gear with only one tooth, and think of them as a gear with only one notch. In the past, the one tooth has forever passed their notch and they'll never be carried along in the flow of time again. In the future, the tooth comes along, snags their notch, and they're back in the flow of time.

Question: Why does the Comedian say, "I'm sorry, Mother," in the movie? He says this as he is dying and also when he visits Moloch. Could "Mother" be a reference to the two mothers of his children - the Asian one that he killed as well as Laurie's mom whom he raped? If this is not the case, then I just don't get it.

Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987)
Question: Something that's bugged me ever since becoming a Star Trek fan: Why do none of the ships featured in this or any other Star Trek series have seat-belts or some futuristic equivalent for their bridge crews? Practically every time, for example, the Enterprise comes under heavy attack, consoles and panels start exploding and crew members are thrown from their chairs and shown flying through the air. To me this seems a very obvious oversight.
Answer: The ships have inertial dampeners, they don't really need seatbelts. And consoles aren't really supposed to be exploding. When the do, would you really want to be lashed in place so your face and torso take the full force of it?
There is a deleted scene in Star Trek nemesis where Captain Picard captain's chair get a seat belt and he makes a comment about them.

General questions
I'm looking for this movie. The plot is about a boy who is driving along at night when he sees a girl getting beaten up. He then pulls over and sticks up for the girl. And after a while he then is beaten to death by accident, then they all leave and he goes missing.,Then the movie follows him on as he becomes a ghost and is trying to tell everyone where his body is, but because he's a ghost he can't communicate. As this is going on, the girl he stuck up for is feeling depressed and trying her hardest to find his body but it seems for nothing. SPOILER: they find him in the dam.
Answer: The sounds quite a lot like "The Invisible", starring Justin Chatwin and Margarita Levieva.

Twilight (2008)
Question: Why doesn't anybody notice how hard and cold the skin of Carlisle is? He is a doctor after all, who touches his patients.
Chosen answer: He's a surgeon. His patients are usually unconscious when he's actually touching them. Not always, of course, but it's just his hands he's touching them with and he'd be sure to be very gentle so they wouldn't notice how hard they are. A doctor with cold hands is kind of a running joke, really.
In addition to the other reply he is a surgeon, so he is most likely wearing gloves.

Drag Me To Hell (2009)
Question: Was miss Ganush alive when she first attacked Christine, or was that the first manifestation and torment of the Lamia? The attack and it's effects seem highly consistent with what happens to Christine later on, and the frail old lady is just too powerful and durable for someone who dies a day or two later.

Spider-Man (2002)
Question: Does anyone know of any technical problems that happened during the shooting of the film, and how they were overcome? If so how do you know about these problems?
Chosen answer: I own a copy of a book, "Behind the Mask of Spider-Man" . It details nearly every aspect of the making of the movie. It'd probably be hard to find in stores now, but websites that sell books may still have it. I know Amazon does.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)
Question: In the scene where Beckett, Will, and Jones meet with Elizabeth, Jack, and Barbossa on the island, Elizabeth decides to exchange Will for Jack. Back on the Black Pearl, she tells Barbossa that they need to give Jack a chance. What does she mean by this? Also, why was Barbossa so eager to free Calypso, while Elizabeth and Will were so against it?
Chosen answer: She means for Barbossa to give Jack a chance to locate and retrieve Jones' key and chest aboard the Flying Dutchman. Barbossa is eager to free Calypso because she brought him back from the dead, and he owes her for that; also because only Calypso can keep Beckett from destroying every last pirate in the Caribbean. Elizabeth and Will weren't especially interested in whether or not Calypso was freed. They didn't invest their efforts into the plan because they had plans of their own which working to free Calypso interfered with.

Sozin's Comet (4): Avatar Aang - S3-E21
Question: What happened to Prince Zuko's mom?
Answer: She was banished by her husband, Ozai, for High Treason. She planned and played a significant role in Ozai's seizure of the throne from Fire Lord Azulon. Without her aide, Ozai would have been forced to kill his son, Zuko. Ozai's elder brother, Iroh, would have taken the thrown upon Azulon's death. It is assumed, though never specified, that either she or Ozai killed Azulon to ensure Ozai could be crowned Fire Lord before Iroh's return from the failed siege of Ba Sing Se. In the comics it is revealed that she met a spirit and changed her face and mind so she couldn't remember her kids. She also reunites with her old love and has daughter. When Zuko first meets her he doesn't know who she is, but in the end she asks for her face and memory back. Its also revealed she killed Azulon with a colorless and untraceable poison.

Nightmares and Daydreams - S3-E9
Question: In Aang's first dream, his hair, dress, and movements are supposed to resemble Naruto. In his second dream, he's looks like Vash from Trigun. However in the last dream (the one where Aang tells the Firelord that he is the one without pants), I can't quite place who he's supposed to look like. Any help?
Answer: Aang is meant to resemble Goku from Dragon Ball Z in the first nightmare. Though Naruto's and Goku's outfits are very similar, the hair is the clue here. In the final dream, Aang is a caricature of Jin from Samurai Champloo.
