Aladdin (1992)

Question: Throughout the whole movie, why does Jasmine have such hostility toward Jafar? The scene where Aladdin was captured by the guards on Jafar's orders, she seems angry that Jafar had a stranger taken from the market place. In the scene of Jasmine's and Jafar's first appearance together, she confronts him angrily asking Jafar about the arrest. When his reply was justifiable she is still upset with him. And in the scene where the Sultan, Jafar, and Jasmine are all in the room discussing the incident, Jasmine says she wants to get rid of Jafar. (00:23:20 - 00:41:15)

Answer: Because Jasmine sees Jafar for what he is; a lying, manipulative, power-hungry villain.

Answer: Also, Jasmine reveals in that first scene that Aladdin's arrest wasn't justifiable. Jafar told her he had him arrested for kidnapping her, to which Jasmine reveals that he didn't kidnap her; she ran away. Then Jafar reveals that he had Aladdin executed, which can seemingly only be done upon approval from the sultan. Jasmine loathes him so much because he allowed for the death of an innocent boy without checking with anyone first.

Jafar didn't have to check with the sultan to execute someone before. The sultan came up with that rule to avoid future confusion.

American Beauty (1999)

Question: Who was responsible for Lester's murder? Many of his family and friends had a motive but at the time he was killed, they were all somewhere else.

Answer: Frank, Ricky's father, killed Lester. He thought Lester was gay, a secret he's been keeping about himself for a long time. When Lester spurned his kiss, he was humiliated and enraged.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Question: Spoiler: How did Bruce survive the explosion?

Chosen answer: It is revealed afterward that he had fixed the autopilot on his aircraft. At some point prior to the explosion he bailed out and the craft continued on without him, taking the bomb far enough away for him to survive the blast.

It's not clear that he actually survived We did see him in the end but Alfred could have been imagining that Bruce was there It's up to us to decide if that is the case or not But it's not confirmed that he survived.

The Dark Knight Series has not been one to play with elements of imagination, or really leave things up to audience interpretation. I will relent that Christopher Nolan has a knack for this in some of his other movies. But here, things have remained pretty clear cut throughout the trilogy. We see that Bruce fixed the autopilot on The Bat, he basically delivers a map of the Batcave to Blake. And Alfred, being of sound mind and body, sees Bruce in a cafe at the end. Bruce survived.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)

Question: Regarding Mad Eye Moody. 1: Why is he drinking a polyjuice potion in front of Harry in the classroom? 2: Why does it starts storming in the great hall when Mad Eye Moody enters? Does this has anything to do with it being the wrong Moody? 3: Was Barty Crouch killed by Moody? If yes, did Barty senior know it was his son?

Chosen answer: 1. Because nobody knows it's polyjuice potion, and it's not suspicious at all for Mad-Eye Moody to drink from his own flask. 2. It's a storytelling technique called foreshadowing. So while, in the movie's world, the storm has nothing to do with this Moody being an impostor, within the context of the film as a storytelling medium it does. 3. Yes, Barty Sr. was killed by Barty Jr. Barty Sr. was breaking down mentally from spending so long under the Imperius Curse. In his brief moments of sanity, he was able to connect the dots and figure out that what his son was up to.

Answer: Moody attacking the ceiling was also a way to showcase his paranoia.

Question: Is there ever an explanation given as to why the Aliens visited Earth in the first place?

Answer: Yes. They weren't intending to visit Earth at all, but their ship became crippled somehow and they were all slowly dying. They made their way to Earth looking for help.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)

Question: When Barbossa was explaining to Jack how the Pearl was taken and not lost. What does Barbossa mean when he says the sea beneath the Pearl began to roil?

Chosen answer: The sea got very choppy and wavy directly beneath the Black Pearl.

Question: WWhen the boggart changes into something in the classroom scene, can everybody see it then? Are all people seeing the same, or do they see the object that frightens them the most?

Chosen answer: The all see it the same; it turns into the thing that most frightens whoever has the boggart's attention at the time.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)

Question: Can somebody please tell me why there was a dog in the sky? I know it had something to do with the 'Grim'.

Chosen answer: That's it exactly. It's a bit of in-world foreshadowing. Divination isn't complete malarkey, as McGonagall makes it out to be; Trelawney just doesn't have a knack for it aside from Prophecy which she herself is ignorant of actually possessing. Whatever magic controls such things as tea leaves and the like caused the clouds to form into the shape of a Grim. Harry just misunderstood the warning.

Grease (1978)

Question: When everyone is at the Frosty Palace and Rizzo asks Danny if someone is snaking him. Danny says "Oh bite the weenie, Rizz." Then Rizzo says, "With relish. Now What does Rizzo mean by "With relish?"

Chosen answer: It's a double meaning. "With relish" means "with pleasure" but, since they're talking about a weenie, she is referencing the condiment as well.

The Skeleton Key (2005)

Question: If the children's souls were transferred into the servants and saw they were about to be hanged, why didn't one of them simply say something like "Mom, Dad it's me. Please don't do this!"

Answer: In that particular scene with the servants and the kids, you'll notice that the servants' eyes are rolled back into their heads and they're shaking uncontrollably. I think this is because they were drugged. You'll also notice they never try to fight being hung, never cry out or anything. They just keep shaking with their eyes rolled upward.

They weren't drugged, they were in a possessed state.

Answer: Actually it's the opposite The servants (in the kids bodies) are watching the kids getting burned (in the servants bodies) they already switched bodies.

Chosen answer: They most assuredly did, but the adults were in a drunken frenzy and not inclined to take the time to listen to the unbelievable tale these two objects of extreme racism were trying to tell.

Saw (2004)

Question: Why does Dr. Gordan cut his leg while he didn't know that door was unlocked or not? This question is also for Eric in Saw -2.

Answer: Well, there's only one way to find out whether or not it's locked...

Answer: Because he had to kill Adam to escape. Only way to reach the gun was to get rid of his chain.

He could've used his shirt to get the phone.

Answer: I'm assuming they were both in a panic, as normal people would be in that situation and it was Gordon's last attempt to try and save his family.

Answer: That is a good point. Dr Gordon wasn't even at the handle of the door, so he couldn't push it the same way Zep could or Jigsaw could at the very end.

Question: If I've seen it correctly, you are supposed to save if you made a copy of the tape. But what would happen if you watch the tape again, do you have to make another copy then to prevent her coming out of the television?

Answer: No. The main character watches the tape several times looking for clues to solve the mystery, but only makes one copy and is still spared.

Question: How can Nicholas Cage seeing a guy shooting two people in the casino if it's not going to happen? I know that he stopped the guy because he would shoot two people, but wouldn't he see some different future then?

Chosen answer: He doesn't just see THE future, he sees all possible futures.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Question: My question involves the scene where Batman is standing on top of the rubble from the explosion mourning the loss of Rachel while the firefighters are seen behind him putting out the residual flames. Is Batman standing inside the building or outside? This may seem obvious, but I recently had a serious debate on this matter. I personally believe he is standing inside the building but would like clarification if possible. Thanks.

Answer: He's on the rubble, so he must be where the building's inside used to be.

Cube (1997)

Question: Is it revealed, in the Cube trilogy, the destiny to which Kazan is reserved when he walks into the bright light?

Answer: No, but given the nature of the organization behind the Cubes, it can be assumed he was either tracked down and executed or detained in order to place him back into that Cube or into another version.

Well due to his amazing luck and how most of the other people around treated him he may have been put back in The cube and this is not the first time he has escaped eventually they will get tired of him and leave he back on the streets alone covered in blood of his former friends.

Answer: In an alternate ending of the cube we discover that the cube was built on another planet so Kazan died.

Answer: If you watched Cube Zero, we see the same blinding white light when Owen makes it to the exit, but when he walks through it turns dark and he is chained up. He is then asked whether or not he believes in God. When he says "No," he is incinerated. Apparently, no one has ever said "Yes," so we don't know what happens if someone were to say "Yes." It is very likely that Kazan ended up in the same situation.

The Butterfly Effect (2004)

Question: In the scene where Evan visits an institutionalized Lenny locked in restraints, Lenny accuses him of having known on the day of the junkyard (where Lenny stabbed Tommy with a shard) that "something big was going to happen" and that Evan "should be where I am". How did Lenny know that Evan foresaw the "future" as it were, and that he changed the course of events which lead to his imprisonment?

Answer: Because of Evan's strange behavior that day. Lenny has had too much time to dwell and think about it, so he's created excuses in his mind and convinced himself of their truth. He just happens to be right.

The Break-Up (2006)

Question: When Addie sets Brooke up on a date with her husband Andrew's friend, Brooke is uninterested during the date. At one point Addie calls her to help her get out of the date and the first thing she says ism "Is this when I'm supposed to call?" How did Brooke and Addie plan this? Brooke was pretending to be intrigued by the guy's story about his job and listening intently therefore she couldn't have been communicating with Addie by texting during the date and they couldn't have planned it ahead of time.

Answer: It's a common ploy to help a friend out of a bad blind date. They didn't need to plan it.

Beetlejuice (1988)

Question: In the beginning only Lydia can see Adam and Barbra, but everyone can see Betelgeuse. How come the Deetze's can see Betelgeuse but not Adam and Barbra?

Chosen answer: He's got more experience interacting with the living. Adam and Barbara are capable of making themselves seen by the others, they just don't know how yet.

Answer: They could see him because Adam and Barbara's parlor display gave them reason to believe in supernatural entities.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)

Question: I heard that only one of all the prophecies is the correct one am I right? How is it they find it so fast?

Chosen answer: Yes, only one is the correct one, but they're all organized and marked (by subject, I believe) so it was relatively simple to track the proper one down.

Answer: Also remember that Neville saw the globe and it had Harry's name on it. They also knew what section it was in because of Harry's dreams. These are how they were found correctly.
