God's Not Dead (2014)

A laughably bad propaganda film that tries to perpetuate the myth that Christians in America are the victims of widespread persecution while simultaneously implying that all atheists are terrible people.

I really don't understand the universal praise this movie gets. While the film's technical merits (stunts, cinematography, etc.) are top notch, it is completely devoid of story and character development. Max himself barely says or does anything (Furiosa is arguably the main character). The movie is essentially a two-hour car chase with a few small breaks in the action here and there. And when the movie makes no effort to develop its characters, I couldn't care less about what happens in any of the action scenes.

My personal favorite Indiana Jones movie. It's every bit as fun, tense and funny as "Raiders of the Lost Ark, " and Harrison Ford and Sean Connery have tremendous chemistry.

Probably the worst Jurassic Park movie yet. At least the third movie had the sense to have the characters go to a dinosaur-filled island for a rescue mission while tricking the main character into going against his best wishes. This film merely repeats the foolishness exhibited by the characters in the previous film, apparently being too dense to realise that creating dinosaurs is a bad idea.

Almost everything about this movie is mind-numbingly stupid and its justification for setting up a sequel is extremely contrived.

Overall an improvement over "Man of Steel, " having a justifiable dark tone and great additions to the cast such as Ben Affleck and Jeremy Irons. The film is certainly not without its flaws however, not the least of which is Jesse Eisenberg's cringe-worthy and miscast performance as Lex Luthor. Plus, the way the whole "Martha" scene is initiated is really clunky.

A rare comedy sequel that's better and funnier than the first film. It's fun to see how the film incorporates historical facts into the plot and jokes, even if they have to cheat a little.

A hilarious and clever love letter to basically the entire genre of horror films.

Hook (1991)

Believe it or not, this film is even better watching it as an adult than when I watched it as a kid. The themes of lost youth and the responsibilities of being a grown-up really hit home (especially after the passing of Robin Williams), and John Williams' score is underrated.

A major letdown. The most fascinating thing about the first film were the ideas it presented. This film wasn't really interested in exploring those further, choosing instead to focus on an overlong and somewhat boring fight between humans in mech-suits and the machines. The final confrontation between Neo and Agent Smith is good (again, goes on for a little too long) and the way that Neo defeats him is pretty clever, but it can't save the film overall.

Dexter (2006)

The final two seasons are pretty lackluster, although the final two episodes of season 7 are pretty good. Other than that, the show is highly addicting. Finding out how Dexter will stay one step ahead of his peers in law enforcement was always something to look forward to.

Home Improvement (1991)

Formulaic but consistently funny.

Three Amigos (1986)

An all-time classic. The leads have great chemistry, the jokes hold up, and there are many quotable lines.

Last Action Hero (1993)

A smart and hilarious meta action movie that was far ahead of its time, with an overlooked performance from Charles Dance.

The Grey (2011)

A compelling and introspective look at man's will to survive.

Happy Gilmore (1996)

Adam Sandler's best, funniest and most quotable movie.

A great film with equally great performances, and it's hard to decide whether it works more as a dark comedy or as a serious drama, because the film excels in both areas.

Phaneron

A wonderful love letter to classic monster movies, and the villain in the film, as played by Michael Shannon, manages to be equally menacing and hilarious in his own deadpan way.

Phaneron

My favorite "Die Hard' film. The action scenes are tense, Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson have great chemistry, and Jeremy Irons' Simon Gruber is every bit as great of a villain as Alan Rickman's Hans Gruber.

Man of Steel (2013)

Some great performances, but overall bland and joyless, with overlong action scenes to boot.

Interstellar (2014)

Very ambitious with some powerful and heavy scenes, along with a great score by Hans Zimmer. The film does go on for a little too long, however.
