Continuity mistake: As Colonel Kurtz sits and reads articles to Captain Willard from Time magazine look very closely at the clasp of his dog tag necklace on the left of his neck. Throughout the shots he keeps both hands on the articles that he's reading yet the clasp on his necklace moves down his neck more than an inch without being touched. (02:50:55)

Continuity mistake: Hubert de Marais says to Captain Willard, "And this is something that you never understood, you American". The gentleman in the tan jacket to his left lowers his cigar towards the ashtray. In the next shot his hand is resting on the table with the cigar between his fingers then he puts it in the ashtray. Continuity mistake: As Kilgore's chopper lands it blows orange smoke over the men when we see their backs. In the next shot looking in the direction of the helicopter the smoke is nowhere near them. (00:26:45)

Continuity mistake: The gentleman in the tan jacket sitting next to Roxanne says, "Look an egg" and the glass in front of him fills up between shots. (02:07:20)

Continuity mistake: As Lance is on the top of the PBR Captain Willard says to himself, "He's close, he was real close" and they shuttle between shots of Lance and close-ups of Chief Phillips at the helm. The straw hanging down from the roof of the boat behind Chief Phillip's head is is hanging down differently in both of these shots. (02:21:05)

Continuity mistake: Just before the tiger attacks them there's a close-up of Captain Willard's face with a large leaf in front of him to his right. As the tiger lunges he runs several feet to his left. He gets out of the way by moving, but the next shot as he fires his rifle he's back in the same spot again. (00:58:50)

Continuity mistake: Captain Willard walks up to a soldier and asks him, "Where can I find the CO". At first he has his right hand on the soldier's left arm then in the next shot he's not touching him at all. (00:26:20)

Continuity mistake: As Chef and Captain Willard continue walking through the jungle looking for mangos Chef says, "Hell, I joined the Navy" and he's holding his gun out in front of him with both hands. In the next shot he's carrying it over his right shoulder. (00:57:00)

Continuity mistake: When the soldiers lower Clean's body into the grave they're all standing. In the next shot they're all crouching. (02:01:50)

Audio problem: As Chef says to Clean, "Should've given the f***er a silver star" after hearing his story about a Vietnamese lieutenant his vocal track cuts out for a few seconds then comes back. (01:13:45)

Continuity mistake: After the woman gives Captain Willard some water she tries to feed him rice from a spoon, which he doesn't eat. In the previous wide shot of the entire area there is no bowl of rice anywhere, there is only the pitcher of water at her feet and the rice bowl just appears. (02:53:55)

Continuity mistake: After the tiger attack Chief Phillips backs the boat out away from the shoreline and says, "Clean bring that 60 forward" well after the boat has cleared the tree that has been camouflaging it. In the next shot the tree is hitting Clean in the face. (00:59:20)

Continuity mistake: Chef and Miss May mess around in the helicopter as he says, "I can fly like the eagle". They start out facing the back of the helicopter then in the next shot they're facing the opposite direction. (01:31:40)

Continuity mistake: As they approach Kurtz' compound Captain Willard says, "Lance, keep your hands away from the guns" before he climbs to the top of the PBR. Look closely at his T-shirt, which is wet with sweat around the collar, then dry in the next shot. (02:27:30)

Audio problem: When Clean says that great line, "Well I'm next ma'am," to the Playboy bunny, he also says something else that was edited out. (01:32:50)

Continuity mistake: After Lance, Kilgore and his surfing buddies walk away we see three guys playing football and the one without a shirt has his hands up in the air waiting for a pass. In the next shot there are only two men and the shirtless guy is now throwing the football. (00:30:40)

Continuity mistake: Colonel Kilgore offers the wounded VC soldier a drink of water and his right elbow is leaning on his leg. In the next shot only his forearm is leaning on his leg. (00:29:45)

Continuity mistake: As Chef and Clean have a verbal fight after they leave the Medevac Lance is in the front of the boat putting on camouflage while holding a mirror in his right hand. In the next shot he's leaning on his right arm and holding the mirror in his left hand. (01:33:20)

Audio problem: After leaving the Do Lung Bridge Chef hands out the mail to Clean who says, "Is that it?" If you look closely at Clean's lips he also says, "Thanks," which was edited out. (01:49:30)

Continuity mistake: When Francis Ford Coppola appears in the movie as a TV director, he asks the captain to, "Just keep on going," and a small boy is playing on a black Agent Orange drum in the background. If you watch the labeling on the drum you can see that it's been moved between shots. (00:25:50)
