Goldeneye (1995)

Question: How did Alec survive being shot at the start only to return later in the film. It's something that I can't figure out, as James saw him get shot.

Ssiscool

Chosen answer: The real answer, which I believe was explained better in the game or in special features. Regardless, I did hear, is that Ourumov wasn't aiming directly at Alec's head, but to the side and shot the ground behind him. But made it look like he shot him in the head. Alec would have felt the bullet whiz by him.

Quantom X

That makes more sense.

Ssiscool

It has been a while since I watched the movie, and my copy is a VHS... but I believe if you watch very closely you can actually see the bullet hit the ground behind him with a tile breaking. I don't remember for sure if you can, but I seem to remember they did add that little effect.

Quantom X

Answer: But what about the Russian soldier who was nervous and fired at the gas tanks, only to be shot by Ourumov? Did he fake his death too?

That's a valid point. Ourumov never reloaded.

Ssiscool

Answer: He was shot with a blank cartridge. What that means is that the casing in the gun chamber didn't contain a live bullet; instead of killing him, the gun simply gave off a realistic flash that tricked Bond into thinking Alec had been shot. As explained later in the film, Alec's death was staged between himself and Ourumov.

Cubs Fan

Wouldn't James know it was a blank round? Lack of blood for example?

Ssiscool

Ourumov shot Alec and the Russian soldier with the same gun but, only the soldier was actually killed.

But that doesn't work, because even blanks can be deadly at close range.

MrMovieBuff

Answer: After running the marathon for Marshall with no training, he's allowed to ride the subway for free. While sat on the train, the muscles in his legs start to seize up after the marathon to the point it is painful to move his legs. This is why he can't move them. It's the same reason your body aches after a good session at the gym the day before.

Ssiscool

Answer: Barney ran a marathon without any training and over exerted his muscles. While he was able to walk after, later his leg muscles gave out and he couldn't move (or more likely stand). It is not uncommon when one works out too much to be sore the next day, even if they feel okay afterwards. Thus the saying "I'll feel that in the morning."

Ghost Rider (2007)

Answer: The movie doesn't show how long the effects of the Penance Stare last. I have Morbius #1, in which Ghost Rider uses his Penance Stare on Morbius, who recovers from it relatively quickly. I don't know definitively because I haven't read very many Ghost Rider comics, but the duration of the effects could vary depending on how much remorse the person already felt for their past sins, or how much their own super powers allow them to recover from it. From what I understand, the Penance Stare doesn't work on the Punisher, as he feels no remorse for the people he's killed. It also had no effect on Deadpool, as his greatest victim is himself and it actually caused Ghost Rider to revert to his human form when he tried it on Deadpool.

Phaneron

Answer: It depends on the person. The penance stare is used to torture the victim into reliving every bit of mean and sinful behaviour in their life time. So if the victim is older and committed more sinful acts, it will last longer than say a 20 year old who hasn't committed that many acts.

Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)

Question: What is the significance of the guy moving the button on the control panel at the Live Aid concert? He moved the "no" tape and slides the buttons and then puts the tape back.

Answer: There is no major significance other than he felt Queen deserved more volume. Queen was one of the biggest bands in the world at that time.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Question: Just wondering, does Jim Gordon realize in any of these two movies that Bruce Wayne is in reality the Batman? Because when Bruce and Gordon talk after Bruce crashes his Lamborghini, they talk as if they don't know each other.

Answer: No, there's no indication that Gordon has any idea.

Tailkinker

Answer: In the first movie, he became a recluse then disappeared for several years. They never stayed in contact with one another. Even after Bruce returned they only spoke when he was Batman. While Gordon was trying to fight crime and corruption, Bruce was playing the boozy Playboy millionaire.

This doesn't answer the original question.

Nerve (2016)

Question: Where does all the money come from? These people earn some serious cash from completing dares, but they never tell us where the money came from.

Mario Limbouris

Answer: From the watchers. They pay to watch for 24 hours. I can't remember how much off top of my head but that's where the money comes from. As people fail or bail the money is removed from their bank accounts and goes back into the main fund.

Answer: Harry, while on the bed, dangled his shoe over the edge, luring the book out from underneath. The book, attracted by the movement, lunged for the shoe, and that's when Harry jumped on top of it. It's similar to a cat chasing a small object tied to a string.

raywest

Answer: If you mean how he got it back under control, he lured it out from under his bed and then stepped on it. He was then able to put the binding back on. The book stops moving if the binding is around it.

lionhead

No I meant how did he lure it out. I don't get how that works.

The book isn't a very smart creature. No reason for attacking is given so it probably attacks anything that is in front of it, too close maybe, or anything that moves. Like a shoe.

lionhead

Like many animals that feels threatened, it emerged from its hiding place to attack its foe. In doing so, Harry was able to pounce and subdue the book.

Ssiscool

Answer: Both were breaking the rules. Nobody said conjuring a snake is more a violation then using other spells than the disarmament spell. Plus everybody kinda forgot it happened after they heard Harry speak parsel tongue.

lionhead

Answer: Because Snape whispered an incantation to Malfoy.

Question: What kind of dog is Lucky supposed to be, a mix breed or collie mix?

Joey221995

Answer: Lucky is a mongrel mix. A mix of 2 breeds. A quick search suggests a possible terrier and lab mix.

Final Destination (2000)

Question: How did the name "Clear" come about? She's the only character with a unique name in the entire franchise, not counting anyone who goes by some sort of nickname.

Answer: This isn't an answer but. To be fair, in the German version of the movie, Tod's name is kept the same because Tod in German is "death." I thought that was pretty unique and cool in itself.

That could be submitted as trivia.

Ssiscool

Answer: According to IMDb, "Clear" is the first name of the assistant to Glen Morgan and James Wong, the writers of the film.

School of Rock (2003)

Question: Perhaps a weird question but why did Patty call the cops when she found out Dewey was posing as Ned? Wasn't that ridiculous since it didn't really seem like too much of a crime - as Dewey said to Patty "it's not like I murdered anybody"?

Answer: It's fraud at the end of the day. And in doing so he has put the kids at risk, and possibly ruined Ned's reputation.

Ssiscool

Answer: Bernadette is surprised at the thought that Sheldon could get married. Going against everything she knows.

Prison Break (2005)

Season 1 generally

Question: I've probably missed something, but at one point Michael rescues Sarah from the very room that they are trying to access for the escape - why didn't they use that route to get there?

Answer: She wasn't in the infirmary, she was in Sick Bay, a different location in B Wing.

Answer: She wasn't in the infirmary, she was actually in the sick bay.

Answer: Because the path from underneath the Doc's room had a new pipe replaced. The pipe was too big and firm to tear off so they had to change their plans last minute.

This is incorrect, the original question asks why don't the Fox River Eight use the vents to get to the infirmary instead of climbing up from below the infirmary.

School of Rock (2003)

Question: Does the movie take place during autumn?

Answer: It's been a while since I've seen the movie but I seem to recall scenes with the air being cold. Since it's light pretty late I would guess September time.

Ssiscool

Question: What happened to the boy Jay pushed into the pool?

Answer: He is rescued and receives first aid. This is not shown but since none of them end up in serious trouble it's safe to assume he wasn't harmed.

Ssiscool

Question: This is about both the first and second film, and the Lion Guard. How did only one cub born occur about four times in a row (Simba, first cub of Simba whose name is unknown, Kiara and Kion). Why weren't there more than one born at once for this long amount of time?

Answer: Because this a fictional animated movie that bends reality in order to better serve the plot. Having too many lion cub characters being born would be confusing and clutter the story line.

raywest

Plus it could be assumed that not all of them survive.

Ssiscool

Maybe, but being this is a Disney movie, morbid facts like that are usually kept to a minimum.

raywest

Agreed. Which is why only 1 cub is ever seen.

Ssiscool

Question: I can't remember if this is covered in the books, but at the start of this movie, the Dursleys are seen packing up and leaving (because Harry has turned or is about to turn 17 so they can't protect him anymore), but since they've always not wanted to get involved with the magical world side of things (Petunia hating Lily for being a witch, Vernon not wanting Harry to be happy or going to Hogwarts etc), why would they just pack up and leave on Harry's word that they can't protect him anymore by living with him because of what will happen when he turns 17? Was it all explained to them in the letter Dumbledore left with baby Harry in the "Philosopher's Stone" about how Harry had to live with them until he was 17, and that Lily and James had been killed by this powerful person who they needed to protect Harry from or was it another way?

Answer: This is better explained in the books. The Durselys did not wish to leave their home, but the Ministry of Magic convinced them it was imperative that they vacate the house or else risk being killed by Voldemort. He would target them simply because they were Harry's relatives. The Ministry arranged to move and hide them until Voldemort could be defeated. Aunt Petunia hated the wizarding world, but she knew what Voldemort could do to her family once Harry's magical protection lapsed on his 17th birthday.

raywest

And as much as she hated the magical world, she knew the importance of following the instructions as Voldemort had killed her sister and left Harry without parents. She would do anything to protect Dudley as demonstrated in Order of the Phoenix.

Friends (1994)

Answer: Since Denise is never seen or heard by any of the other characters; since Phoebe abruptly stops mentioning her immediately after this episode; and since Phoebe is, to put it gently, a little weird, I think we can safely assume that yes, Denise was made up.

However Phoebe is also known to come out with random things that seem impossible but is true.

Ssiscool

I'd say that Denise being made up is a fair assumption, as Rachel lived with Phoebe long enough to the point where there was no issue with this mystery person returning.

Commando (1985)

Question: The villain's whole plan was to force John Matrix to kill some foreign president by holding his daughter hostage. So why at the beginning were they killing members of his unit? That seemed rather pointless to me.

Gavin Jackson

Answer: They didn't know where Matrix lived. They were killing Matrix's old unit because they knew if they did General Kirby would make physical contact with Matrix to warn him. They simply followed Kirby to Matrix's home.

BaconIsMyBFF

Answer: To flush him out into the open. By killing his unit it will make it more likely he will want revenge and come out into the open making him a target.

Ssiscool

Answer: It didn't look like she was untying his shoe laces to me. It looked more like she was pulling down Ron's sock to get a better look at his wounds.

She's just trying to asses his injuries.

Ssiscool

Maybe after they got out of the willow but I'm referring to when Harry and Sirius were talking.

Chosen answer: She could be untying them because one of his legs is broken and sometimes a broken limb can become swollen.

What does that have to do with Hermione untying the shoelaces?

Answer: I think she took off his shoe to get a better look at his leg. It can be kind of hard for someone to examine a wound if someone is wearing a shoe on their foot.

But she didn't take off his shoe.
