As Sam Witwicky tries to find a job, the Autobots discover a fallen Autobot spaceship on the moon containing the former leader of the Autobots, Sentinel Prime. However, the Decepticons are also aware of this and are baiting the Autobots, tricking them into reviving Senitnel Prime so that he will activate a teleportaion device that will save Cybertron at the cost of the human race.

Continuity mistake: Carly's shoes appear to mysteriously alternate several times between black stiletto heels and black ballet flats in-between shots during the climactic action sequence. This is most noticeable during the collapsing building sequence as well as the scene in which Carly speaks to Megatron.
Optimus Prime: In any war, there are calms between storms. There will be days when we lose faith. Days when our allies turn against us. But the day will never come, that we forsake this planet, and its people.
Trivia: Early on in the movie, Sam is watching Star Trek with Leonard Nimoy, who also plays Sentinel Prime. Also, Wheelie's comments on the episode are relevant to Sentinel Prime. (Just replace the word Spock with Sentinel Prime).
