Continuity mistake: Xiao Meng spent some time wrapping her father's (Professor Tao) left hand, going around his wrist/thumb and under his thumb (diagonally across his palm). When Tao was blown off the bridge and landed in the dirt, the bandage was NOT wrapped around his thumb (just around his wrist). (01:12:33 - 01:16:03)
Continuity mistake: In Central Park before meeting the toaster client, Peter Sarsgaard in the close-up has 2 tuning forks in his right hand and one in the left, but in the wider shot he has two in his left and one in his right as he picks up the mallet. (00:07:10)
Continuity mistake: When Ricky hits Union Jack with a garbage can lid, Union Jack rubs his nose, then lowers his hand as he says, "Fine." But then his hand is on his nose again. More shoddy continuity ensues; Ricky is told on the phone about another stunt, UJ is rubbing his neck, but the arm is down in the next shot. Yet another similar mistake occurs when Ricky asks for his approval after the groin shot; hand under the chin, then not, gesture repeated. (00:10:30)
Continuity mistake: Young Theo Decker is having his first dinner with the Barbours. Seeing that he's not eating much, Nicole Kidman asks him if he would like her to ask the maid Etta to make something else. On Theo's right, Andy is holding the fork with his right hand. As Theo answers "I'm not hungry", Andy's left hand suddenly is on the table too. (00:06:00)
Continuity mistake: In the prologue, the Nazis storm the Bresson residence. The elder Professor Bresson is sitting at his desk, back turned to them. There's an open fountain pen next to him, right by a paper sheet, but when Bresson answers rather defiantly to the bad guys, the paper sheet suddenly has disappeared. (00:02:15)
Continuity mistake: The lamp above the picture on the wall at the karate school/studio changes in appearance a few times. The first time Casey visited the school, the light bulb was covered by the lamp shade (which was aimed toward the picture); the bulb was not visible but it cast light onto the picture. When the picture was blurred behind Sensei, there was a round circle totally outside of the shade to represent the light bulb (which should have been inside the lamp shade and not visible). Continuity mistake: After the alien abduction, Emmet plans to lead a rescue mission and opens the gate asking "Who's coming with me?" During the sequence, the shadows change completely. At first he is not casting much of a shadow, then it reaches the metal doors, then it stops midway towards it. (00:20:55)
Continuity mistake: When Charlie throws Scott over the balcony, he crashes into the chandelier and it partially tears away from the ceiling. Sparks ensue, but the light remains fully functional. The camera switches to Scott on the floor then back to Charlie where the chandelier can be seen worth all but one light out. There is no visible difference in the room lighting. Later, when Charlie is chasing Scott and Annie with the shotgun, Charlie screams "Lights out!" and shoots a fully functional chandelier.
Continuity mistake: The girl and guy are in a hotel room and she kisses him good bye. You see her go out of the door and the door handle is on the left side and no chain hanging. Then when you see the door a few seconds later the door handle is on the right and the chain is latched.
Continuity mistake: When Katherine goes off script telling Tennant that she'll stay, she does it with the left palm on the desk, only to be shown in the reverse shot with her forearm and closed fist hovering. (01:09:40)
Continuity mistake: Dr. Mitchell's tie was sticking out below the back side of his shirt collar when he approached the front desk but not a few seconds later when he was turning to see Carson or when the receptionist was handing him a doctor's white coat. Dr. Mitchell's tie extended below the back collar again when he was putting on the white coat. (00:09:15)
Continuity mistake: Packets of Synchronic were placed on top of the garbage already in the can and were inconsistent from one shot to another. Also, the amount of crumbled papers under the Synchronic decreased. (It is also interesting that no new garbage was placed in the can on top of the Synchronic packets even though over one day had passed).
Continuity mistake: The clocks are not coordinated, affecting the time frame. Josh and Jen are decorating the Christmas tree at 8:08 PM. Josh goes to his room, "past his bedtime." Josh writes his list for Santa. At 7:15, Josh hears a car drive up, so he looks out the window. Dad meets mom in the driveway and says, "It's almost midnight." (00:05:29 - 00:07:58)
Continuity mistake: The amount of blood on 10-year-old Miguel's face and neck after his "jump in" is not consistent. Sometimes there is more (or less) blood on his cheeks and neck and sometimes it appears splattered compared to large areas diluted with blood. The intensity/color of the blood also changes - sometimes it is very red but other times it is paler. The cut on his left eyebrow apparently was not on the far left corner yet sometimes the blood started there; other times, the blood started almost to the middle of his eyebrow. Sometimes he has blood below his eyebrow. Despite all the blood on his face and neck (down to the sagging T-shirt), there is no blood on his white or light grey T-shirt. He also does not get any blood on his jacket. Miguel was repeatedly punched then kicked by several large, muscular adult gang members for 13 seconds (to become a member of the MS-13 gang) but is unrealistically able to get right up then go and pick up and carry his dog - with no limping or signs of pain. Continuity mistake: The dorky protagonist just bumped into the bike shop girl. She tells him "It's all good, man", to which he replies asking how's the bike. Behind him, a woman with a dog makes her appearance. Over 10 seconds of conversation pass, and the woman is still where she was, but in the shot that follows, when she says "I'm Cate, by the way", the woman warped past him, and is now behind her to the opposite end of the sidewalk. Continuity mistake: Zeke is in the kitchen with his daughter. He is checking out Dick's driving license; in the close-up he is holding it with his left hand, but in the following shot, as she asks him "Where'd you find it?" he is holding it in his right hand. (00:10:15)
Continuity mistake: Mario was chewing a mouthful, then lifted his drink to wash down the food, but when the camera shifted, he was back to chewing a mouthful. (00:01:59)
Continuity mistake: The way Linda holds her coffee cup changes numerous times, often instantly with front versus rear views. The handle switches (changes 90° or 180°) from facing towards her chest to her left knee to opposite her chest while holding the cup between her bent knees, which vary in distance apart.
