Character mistake: In the scene towards the end, when there has been a bomb threat in the building, Billy Bob Thornton uses a pay phone to call the operator. He asks for the airline's base operations in "Greensboro, South Carolina". Greensboro is in North Carolina.
Factual error: In the scene where the fire department responds to the fire, the engine is 42. Yet all the fireman's hats say 6. The engine company, station etc. would all be the same number so their helmets should have also been 42.
Continuity mistake: When Julie talks to Courtney at lunch, she's wearing a headband and the ends of her hair are flipped out. When she's waiting for the bus, the ends of her hair are curled under. Later on in the scene her ends are flipped out again.
Other mistake: In the scene on Christmas morning before the party Ann and Adell are talking on a phone with a cord, Ann is sitting on the bed on one side of the room holding the receiver with the cord leading to the side of the room across from them, next to the TV. But when it shows a shot of the TV, the same phone that Ann is talking on is hung up sitting next to the TV.
Factual error: When the police arrive at the Little house to take the "missing person" report, their car has a blue light on top. Police in New York display red lights.
Factual error: This film takes place on New Year's eve in the year 1981, yet between a couple of scenes, it shows the streets of New York filled with modern-day cars and taxis.
Continuity mistake: In the fox hunt scene Hippolyta is initially shown riding a horse with her dress firmly tucked under her. The following shot of her has the dress flying partially up around her waist and exposing a fair amount of flesh. The subsequent shots again have her dress firmly tucked under her.
Continuity mistake: Remember when Lisa Swanson had the Statue of Liberty on her head? Well, when they took a long shot of all the contestants the hat was gone.
Continuity mistake: When Martin shows Tim the alien gum, it's sealed under glass. But when Martin takes out the Venox 7 gum, the cover is gone with no time for it to have been taken off. (00:33:35)
Continuity mistake: When Maggie and Ike are talking outside at the luau, Ike's flower necklace is in a different place every other shot. (01:11:15)
Continuity mistake: When Molly ties Tanya's whip around a bar to let herself down from the air duct, you can see as she slides down that the whip is knotted at intervals. But a few moments later, when the severed hand draws the whip back up, you can see that there are no knots in it.
Factual error: After the weird little man steals Jamie Fox's car, he starts to pull out of the station. You hear an unmistakable tire squealing sound. Unfortunatly the gas station had a dirt ground. It's probably been pointed out a few thousand times that you can't squeal tires on dirt.
Continuity mistake: When Ernest asks Meenor if she would like to play football, Meenor lines up the football then kicks it through Ernest's window which has a poster on it - the ball forms a hole slightly left of the face in the picture. When Ernest's granddad comes to the window and puts his head in the hole, the hole has now changed to the centre of the face. (00:54:05)
Other mistake: At the start of the film where Detective Dooley and Jerry-Lee are getting ready for work, we see Dooley climbing out of the shower, but in the reflection in the mirror behind him, we see him emerging and can clearly see his under-pants which are bone-dry. (00:00:32)
Continuity mistake: When Richie is running down the stairs, there's no vomit on left hand, but when he asks for a handshake from the policeman, there is.
Revealing mistake: When Whiplash is in the cave and Dudley comes and checks it out, the cave falls in. You can see a black curtain fall down while the screen goes black.
Other mistake: When the agent shows the spiral for the pattern of the messages, the spiral goes through South America and America. But the agent, before, showed two messages that aren't in the pattern; one in England (Stonehenge), the other in Cairo, Egypt.
Continuity mistake: Approximately 9 minutes into the film there is a scene with 'Koop' talking to a customer in the record shop. The camera cuts back and forth between views from either side of the counter. Look carefully at the turntable on the counter and you will see that even while the turntable is not switched on, the deck is in different positions between camera cuts. This is easiest to notice by looking at the angle of the word 'deconstruction' on the blue slipmat. There is even one cut where the turntable's arm is sitting in the middle of the empty slipmat, and in the next cut (and the previous cut), it's on the armrest where it belongs.
Visible crew/equipment: When Lucille drives off to persue her acting career you see a mike boom reflected in small side window twice. (00:05:35)
