Corrected entry: When Emily talks to Raquel at the bar Emily's eyes are blue. But in the rest of the film her eyes are brown.
Corrected entry: A security guard in a Las Vegas hotel goes to investigate a report of a disturbance in a suite, with no two-way radio, which is a key piece of equipment for security guards! When he knocks on the door, no one answers, so he uses his passkey to enter. He would not have been able to do so without notifying his supervisor. Unless he was the one and only security guard in the entire hotel, someone would have been appraised of his last known whereabouts.
Correction: I worked in the back of the house in a HUGE hotel in Las Vegas, and given my position I often worked closely with security. They rarely did what they were supposed to do, cutting corners when they assumed it wouldn't matter. Also, the assumption that they are always on camera (unless they are in a guest room obviously) gives them a false sense of security thinking if anything truly did happen, it would be immediately seen and tended to. Unfortunately the people in surveillance were rather lackadaisical about their jobs too.
Corrected entry: When Carin Fisher is murdered, Robin Williams runs to the hospital to empty his locker. This doesn't make sense, he was already forbidden to do his clown stuff at this hospital, and he was already doing his clown stuff at his Gesundheit-ranch.
Correction: It was true he was forbidden to do his clowning. But as seen through out the film Patch was not one to follow the rules. He may have had these things left over, or as keepsakes.
Corrected entry: At the end, the caption informs us about the couple, "they are still together". Yet the movie was released in 1998 and was set in the present day, meaning the caption has no significance behind the two of them "still" being together since there is no implied passage of time since the movie's ending.
Correction: Since the other captions refer to what the other characters did during and after College, we are meant to understand that a significant amount of time has passed since the events that are depicted.
Corrected entry: Misty is shown with one set of Pokémon in one shot and with some entirely different ones in another.
Correction: Please elaborate more. At this point in the series, Misty's lineup is Togepi, Staryu, Goldeen, and Psyduck. All of them appear in the mini-movie, but none of the Pokémon ever appear on-screen with their Trainers (aside from Pikachu). During the main feature, Misty calls Staryu to rescue her from the storm, then calls Psyduck out after arriving to New Island (Togepi hides in Misty's bag for most of the movie). If you're referring to any event after Mewtwo reveals his grand scheme, then that can be explained as the chaos getting out of hand and the Pokémon running for cover.
Corrected entry: When the Papillon engages the French corvettes, Hornblower stands behind each cannon and sights before giving the order to fire it. A 12 pounder naval gun has a vicious recoil, so he would only have done that once before being crushed by that recoil.
Correction: A large breeching cable was attached to the ships side, and limited the recoil distance. After the adoption of the flintlock firing devise the normal position of the gunner was behind the gun, with a long lanyard, of course.
Corrected entry: At the end when the American soldiers get ambushed in the creek, no platoon in their right mind would walk down a creek all exposed to enemy fire like that.
Correction: Wasn't the entire point of the scene the fact that their leader was a rookie, and making poor decisions, like having them walk through water, rather than the jungle?
Corrected entry: At the end, when Karen is talking to her dad in a voiceover while she's getting ready to leave her hotel room, she says she's not sure if they will bring Jack up on the homicides (plural). But if you go back, the only person he shoots is Kenneth, and that was to save the life of the maid.
Correction: Michigan has a felony-murder rule, which makes anyone caught committing certain felonies liable for the death of any and all persons who died while the felony was being committed, even if someone else (like a partner-in-crime) actually killed them. Thus, by committing a Home Invasion, Jack could have been charged with the murder of all three of the people who died while it was going on, namely, Snoopy, Kenneth and White Boy Bob.
Corrected entry: When Bill follows Cobb into the cafe, Cobb only orders coffee. However, when Bill orders just coffee, the waitress says it's lunch time, insisting that he order something else.
Correction: The waitress does not insist Bill order something else - she hints that she'd like him to order something more. She may have done the same with Cobb. As well, we see Cobb sitting down WITH his coffee - so he probably got it at the counter and carried it to the table. While Bill is weak and would do as he was asked, Cobb would have probably refused to order more.
Corrected entry: In the scene where Don Rafael Montero is visiting the prison to find Zorro, he holds a napkin in front of his mouth to avoid the smell and the possibility of contamination. When he turns to the man who we know is the real Zorro, he lifts Zorro's head up with the napkin and then a few moments later, he puts the napkin back to his own mouth. Wouldn't that basically be destroying the whole point of the using a napkin? Very unhigienic. (00:26:05)
Correction: No, the whole point with the handkerchief is, as you say, to avoid the smell of dozens of people who have been locked up for a long time. He is not very concerned with their germs, and very little of don Diego's smell rubs of on the handkerchief (at least, very little when compared to his surroundings!), so he can still use it to block out the stink.
Corrected entry: When Mulan and the other girls go to see the matchmaker they are all wearing kimonos. A kimono is a traditional Japanese 'dress' composed of a lot of fabric and accessories including an obi whereas the Chinese would were a cheongsam which is a very simple 'dress' made of a minimal amount of fabric and no accessories.
Correction: This is not an error. Mulan wears a 'hanfu' - the traditional Chinese clothing which has been worn for thousands of years in China, and which influenced the Japanese kimono. The Chinese 'cheongsam' is actually a very modern Chinese costume.
Corrected entry: Hobbes types "February 11, 1966" into the search engine and is taken to the front page of the "Chronicle" newspaper. The date on the page is a bit hard to read, but it definitely says 'Wednesday'. In 1966, Feb 11 was a Friday. (00:22:40)
Corrected entry: After being convicted of a crime and escaping the prison bus, Ryan Harrison shouldn't have any money at all. (He bought the fishing gear later in the movie).
Correction: Harrison asked the fishing-gear clerk to give him a check to pay for the purchase. Beyond the fact that this movie is a grand comedy and therefore depends on comedic license, Harrison also had change to pay for his (prison) bus ride. Perhaps the critic is implying that such a convict should have empty bank accounts after defending himself?
Corrected entry: The pirate team is obviously very well-equipped and well-financed. They have obviously all worked together regularly before. Why then do they hire an unknown boat and crew to transport them? It seems more likely that they would buy a boat and use a crew that they knew they could trust, with the same attitude as the rest of them, not three people they had never met before, including an extremely flaky mechanic.
Correction: Buying a boat that was equipped well-enough would be problematic, because they would have to actually go through the paces of buying the boat and all the other necessary equipment, fill out paperwork, etc. Hiring a boat would actually require less work and less maintenence for them, and be more efficient.
Corrected entry: When Riggs and Murtaugh are talking about how much ammo they have, Murtaugh says he has 6. He then shoots 2 and say he has 4 left. Next time Riggs asks Murtaugh says he has 2 left. When Butters is shot, Murtaugh fires 2. So he should have 0 shots left. However he still has one more, because he shoots Wah Sing Ku's brother. So where did the 7th bullet come from?
Correction: Although difficult to see, in some shots Murtaugh is seen using his Smith & Wesson 5906 in addition to his Model 19. In one shot he's seen holding one of the Triad's Makarov PM's which he must've picked up (most notably scene when Butters gets wounded), so that explains why he seems to fire more than six shots.
Corrected entry: The angels in the film are supposed to be seen by absolutely nobody, unless they want them to. However, in several scenes such as those in the hospital and grocery store, both the angels' shadows and reflections in security mirrors can be seen.
Correction: This is a "point-of-view" issue. From the audience's POV, angels are visible, therefore their shadows and reflections would also be visible. In the scenes where the POV is that of a character in the movie, neither the angels nor their shadows/reflections are visible.
Corrected entry: Just something worth noticing. Cameron Diaz's flatmate says that after sex she eats a big banana split. In the end of the movie, when Cameron Diaz is in the living room, she shows up in the back with an old man. If you look closely, she's eating a banana split...
Correction: Not exactly trivia, she says that she's slept with the man and the banana split is in perfect view.
Corrected entry: When Isabel discovers Ben in the cupboard some fan must be blowing into his face because the opening of the doors wouldn't explain the wind that's blowing through his hair. (00:03:00)
Correction: Isabel is in a hurry and flings the doors open quickly which would cause a breeze.
Corrected entry: During the second baseball game, Simon's baseball jersey is nicely tucked in so that you can see only the top half of his number, 8. When the third pitch is thrown and while Simon is hitting the ball, all of Simon's number 8 is fully visible on his shirt.
Correction: In between pitches, Simon could have very possibly moved causing his shirt to become untucked, thereby showing more of the 8 on his jersey.
Corrected entry: Luke Wilson locks himself in the freezer. The doors of walk-in freezers and cool rooms can be opened from the inside. This is a safety feature designed precisely to prevent such cases.
Correction: It is a small business and easily the door could be broken. At the restaurant I work at, they never fix safety problems until a health inspection.
Correction: Emily is played by Gweneth Paltrow who has blue eyes. She was not wearing brown contacts, so when it may appear that her eyes are brown, it is merely the lighting causing her eyes to look darker than they actually are. They are blue throughout the entire film.
