Corrected entry: Several times in the movie we see Peggy Sue's room is on the upstairs level, but when Charlies sneaks into her room in the middle of the night, he easily crawls through her open window at ground-level.
Corrected entry: At the beginning, when the two guys in the car are shooting signs, 2 holes appear in the Mesquite/Dallas sign, but only 1 shot is fired from the single-barrelled gun.
Correction: Just beacause he fired 1 shot at the sign and 2 marks were visible does not mean that he made the 2 marks. Someone else might of done it doing the same thing.
Corrected entry: When Howard frees Phil from the police car and they run away, it is night. They then discover the ultralight aircraft, however it is daytime before they make an escape. Wouldn't the police have noticed he was missing by then, and considering the yard where the aircraft was stored is next-door, wouldn't they have been discovered long before escaping?
Correction: Phil tells Howard that it'll be dawn soon, so it's not as if several hours has passed. Second, when one of the cop cars pulls up, one cop says "they just spotted the duck and the kid", so they did notice Phil was missing by then and were looking for him (they were looking for both, but didn't know they'd be together). Third, earlier it was mentioned that Howard was armed and dangerous, so if one of the cops spotted him, he would certainly call for backup. So they were spotted before escaping, but not apprehended without backup. But even though they were so close doesn't mean they'd be found quicker than expected, especially if they hid when they saw cops approaching.
Corrected entry: In the nightclub, Cats, after Duckie tells Iona that he's sorry, you see him wiping his lips with a napkin. Then the camera goes to Iona showing her downing her drink and putting her hand on one side of her face, but, when the camera shows her doing this, behind her, you see Duckie reaching for a napkin off of the table.
Correction: Maybe he just needed another napkin?
Corrected entry: In his first match-up with Grady Seasons, Vince is seen making the same shot two times during his games.
Correction: The cue ball moves in a slightly different way after making contact with the chosen ball, so it is two different shots.
Corrected entry: When Cassandra bets the bullies that Hoops can out shoot him in basketball, they take a light cover off a light to use as the basketball. Suddenly as they begin shooting, it changes to a basketball.
Correction: This is a common misconception. Ty removes the light cover so that they may "hang" Ack Ack on it. This is shown in the next scene as Ack Ack and his sweater are hung on the fixture like a jacket on a clothing hook.
Corrected entry: At the end, the cops are chasing Judge Reinhold and chase him from downtown L.A. to the Santa Monica pier. He escapes by driving the car into the water and letting the body of the Bedroom Killer, who'd died in his house, be "switched" for his. Only problem is, as soon as anyone did an autopsy, they would've been able to tell that he was dead before he hit the water, therefore not the guy the cops were chasing.
Correction: By the time that the cops discovered this, they would be long gone so it really doesn't matter.
Corrected entry: In the "Robbie's brace" attack scene, both of the bathroom doors slam shut and later the left door slams shut again.
Correction: There are three doors for the bathroom. When Robbie's Braces start to attack him, two doors are shown being shut. The door on his right side (which leads to the parents bedroom) and the door on his left side(Which leads to his and his sisters room) There is still a door open behind him which is the door that leads out to the hallway. This door can still be seen open in the mirror after the first two doors close. Then the hallway door slams shut when he tries escaping through it.
Corrected entry: This film was the only film most of the cast acted in, with the exception of Marc Smith (The Coach) who did a lot of other films.
Corrected entry: When the critters are in the house and the whole family is upstairs hiding, one of the critters recognises a familiar face and starts to talk to him. When the other creature doesn't respond the critter bites its head off. It's an E.T. doll.
Correction: That isnt a mistake.
Corrected entry: When Arnold is on his way to shoot up the mob, they are watching him shoot out the cameras in the elevator. After he shoots at the first camera we see it explode from another camera, but one camera would not be fixed on another camera.
Correction: It's entirely normal for a camera to focus on another more vulnerable camera to catch on film those that are destroying it.
Corrected entry: Knitting was not practiced yet in the Middle Ages. Undoing one's coat was not possible and so the trick to find a way through the maze could not have been performed.
Correction: This subject attracts a great deal of (inexplicable) controversy, but the oldest estimate for the origin of knitting places it in the Anatolian region of Turkey in the 6th or 7th Century, and the most recent around the 1200s in Egypt. Regardless, The Name of the Rose takes place hundreds of years after knitting became commonplace.
Corrected entry: When Eddie does the laundry, the news broadcaster says "Good evening I'm Maggie Walfernandez and these are tonights top stories" indicating it should be dark out. However in following shots daylight is coming through all the windows and the back door.
Correction: Even news programs beginning at 5:00 pm, reporting on the issues of the day, would refer to it as something like, "Tonight's top stories" or "This evening's top stories," and as such, there is still daylight at that time of day, and for quite awhile thereafter.
Corrected entry: During the championship game, with the Wildcats down 21-14, Bird completes a long pass to 32, however, when he catches it, there are three linemen downfield with him, which should have resulted in a penalty.
Correction: Referees miss obvious penalties all of the time.
Corrected entry: In the chase scene at the end, Mahoney jumps from his jet ski onto the guy in the red jacket who is driving the speedboat, the camara then jumps to a far away shot and shows Mahoney throwing the guy in the water, but the guy is now wearing a white jacket.
Correction: There are actually 2 guys on the boat that Mahoney jumps onto-the guy in the red shirt and then another guy in a white shirt. The guy in the white shirt is the one who he throws off, not the guy in the red.
Corrected entry: Mark overuses a drug designed to chemically tan, thus achieving the required darkness to pass as a black. Problem is, it would darken his palms, and would immediately trigger suspicions by any actual black..including Sarah Walker.
Correction: No, it would not. The palms of the hands and the soles of the feet do not tan - they do not have melanin secreting skin cells to produce a tanning effect.
Corrected entry: When Terri is trying to discover the code key she types in Jerry Hall's first name, but shes spells it with a 'i' instead of a 'y'.
Correction: She had to think hard to remember her name, so it's likely she didn't know how to spell it correctly.
Corrected entry: Tom Hanks is flying westbound across the Pacific with packages in his charge. After surviving a crash and four years on a desert island, he ends by delivering the one remaining intact package to an address in Texas. How did such a package start out by being flown westbound across the Pacific?
Correction: He's returning it to sender. We already know that it was that lady who sent the package since it had her wings on it. He just figures that after four years, the package would not be missed at its destination, but giving it to the sender with the note that the package had saved his life might actually mean something.
Corrected entry: At the climax of the film where Lucas enters the football game and attempts to catch a pass, he drops the football without ever getting control of it, which should make it an incomplete pass, but both teams treat the situation like it was a fumble and the play continues causing Lucas to get hurt. For it to be a catch, a player has to have complete control of the ball for at least a moment.
Correction: There are football fans, players, and coaches that I have seen argue this play both ways. It's a little tough since it's in slow motion and while in slow motion he did appear to completely catch the ball and have it for a moment. However, others maintain it only appeared that way and he really completely dropped it. Since viewers cannot agree, I dare say the coaches watching this game (for the movie) wouldn't be able to agree either, so it's not unlikely that the coaches wouldn't stop this play.
Corrected entry: Duke gives the girl he met at the bar a 5 dollar bill with a corner torn off. She gets killed while in the phone booth. The next morning Norman is cleaning the phone booth. Duke goes in the office and the 5 dollar bill is back in the cash register. Since he knows about Norman's past, he should find it odd! Or at least be wondering how it got back in the register.
Correction: He does. He raises this exact point with the journalist shortly after.
Correction: He isn't at ground level, he's walking on the roof. We first hear him climbing, then he steps across the part of the roof that's in front of her window, then he climbs in.
